Overhead Door Co of Eastern ID

We purchased four 10 x 10 garage doors from Discount Doors Company, aka Overhead Door Company of Eastern Idaho in 2008. The installation of the doors was done on schedule and the quality of the doors themselves has been acceptable, except for the weather stripping. The design of the weather stripping is oddly poor and has probably replaced with a new one. Rather than a large tube pointing down that would spread in both directions from the door when closed, thereby maintaining contact with the floor along any irregularities, the mount is such that, rather than rather than the stripping bulging against the floor as it should, it holds the tubing at an angle to the floor so that the tubing simply flops to one side and there is no contact pressure. For a time the resilience of the tubing worked after a fashion, but then grew stiff and needed to be replaced. Nothing could be done about the design. I was going to replace the weather strip tubing, but found a second design flaw; the tubing edges are in an open sided tube in the metal mount that seems to have been crimped, preventing it from sliding out the end for replacement. But for that, Home Depot sells a variety of garage door weather stripping that would work. That was a few years ago and I called Discount Doors Company/Overhead Doors of Eastern Idaho intending to purchase what I assumed would be a proprietary weather stripping kit. The woman who answered didn't know about a parts request, so hollered to a man who hollered back saying that there was nothing available. That was it. No help, no conversation, no suggestions, just nope, not available. They could not have been more indifferent to the need of a customer. I've put up with the problem for too long and simply must find a solution, so I recently called again, thinking that since they sold a lot of these doors, in the interest of good customer service, the owner or someone would have found a solution, but was met with the same nope and indifference. Have I told people I've known who were building a garage about my experience? You bet and will continue to do so.

Repairman showed up on schedule at the time we agreed to the day before. Because of the type of spring that was installed years ago, he needed to return to the shop for the necessary parts, but came back within the hour. Work took about an hour to remove and replace the broken opener. Repairman was courteous and explained why the model of sprin I had was "antique" and not been used for over a decade. He also did a general cleaning of moving parts.

I called on a Friday to set up an appointment. I was told that someone would call me and schedule the appointment. On Monday, I received a call at 10:45 a.m. and was told that they could be at my house be between 1 and 1:30 that afternoon. I let them know that would be good and if they could be closer to 1:30 even better. At 2:00 I called to see if there was a problem due to no one showing up. The owner was very rude and said that his worker said he called me and I did not answer so they will not be here until 3:30. I said that no one has called me sense 10:45 this morning and that is not correct. He told me if that is how I am going to be, he does not want to do business with me. I was very upset that an owner of a company would talk to a customer this way and that one of their employees would lie. if a business owner would talk to me like this, then how would they treat your personal property. Very disappointed in this company and would not recommend them.

Showed up unexpectedly, but timing worked great. Got to work and finished quickly. Didn't get irritated by me asking a lot of questions and didn't mind explaining what was being done (I really appreciate that).

I called and they were the only company able to come within a few days. What am I supposed to do with a garage door that can't close? They came in a few hours. The guy had the problem diagnosed before I even opened the garage door (the tracks were out of alignment, which he could tell from the paint scratches). Both doors were aligned and oiled within a few minutes. Very reasonably priced for the work done too.

It went perfectly! I am beyond satisfied with the job. They were punctual, even got the job done 3 days ahead of anticipated date. The new door looks wonderful, functions perfectly, and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. The quoted price is exactly what it cost, the installer showed me how to operate the opener, and hauled the old door away. I have a side door that also needs replaced, and Bryce was very upfront with me in saying it was outside his area of expertise, and gave the number of another person who specializes in doors. I appreciate his honesty and help in connecting with the right person for that job.

They called first thing Monday morning after I had left a message over the weekend and were out that day to repair the springs. The work was done very quickly and the technician even pointed out that we needed to add some lag bolts since the installer had failed to do so. Would recommend to anyone!

Replace garage door

My garage door was making funny noises and slow to open and close since I fixed something myself. The tech showed up and inspected the door, did some minor repair and then lubed everything and showed me how to do in in the future. He was a little late getting here, but he just fit me in between other appointments the same day I called.

A friend suggested that I consider Discount Doors Company after a failed attempt with another local company. My wife and I looked up their website and found a door combination that we liked. I contacted these folks and they were friendly, professional, and went over the pro's and con's of our desired combination to ensure we would be satisfied with the door we chose. They said the door combination we wanted would require them to order it. They also provided us with an estimated date for the door come in, they said they would order it, call us for an appointment for installation, and sent us an email with the confirmation of options and cost. They did not ask us for a deposit. It should be noted that the cost was $10 less than the folks I attempted to get a door replacement from earlier. On the date they estimated, they called us and provided us a choice on dates and times for installation. They arrived 15 minutes early and discussed with us what they were going to do. It just so happened that the winds in the area were reaching 40 mph and higher gusts. We were concerned over safety of the worker but we were reassured that they had a handle on it. They removed the old door and opener, which were done with the right safety equipment and by clearly a very skilled worker. This individual assembled almost the whole door on the ground and was able to put the assemblies in place and make the appropriate adjustments for operation of the door. The whole thing was done within 2 hours, clean up of the area was excellent, and the door operates smoothly. They provided us options on payment. All in all, I'd recommend these guys to anyone if they wanted a hassle free door installation or replacement.

I live in Kansas City but have a second home in Southeastern Idaho. It is a used home that I recently purchased. I needed the garage doors serviced. I found this company on Angie's List and called them. They were easy to deal with, and performed very well. They met my property caretaker at the home on a prearranged date, and did the work very satisfactorily, then sent me the bill in Kansas City. I intend to use them again for any garage door work I need at my Idaho house.

Discount Doors was by far the best price after calling around. They were courteous on the phone. They quoted us a price and told us they could do it the next day. They were then able to fit us into their schedule that same day and got the job done.

It was good, same day service. quality work. the door hasn't worked better in years.
