KODIAK RIDGE FINE HOMES LLC

Our initial pricing package with Kodiak (an authorized Lindal Cedar Home dealer) was given to us in June of 2007. Building was to have begun in September, 2007. The actual building did not begin until November 2007 and then stopped in January because of weather. We store our boat below where the construction was taking place. Kodiak removed our boat from its storage and left it outside during the entire winter even though all they had to do was push a button to have the boat moved back into the boathouse. The company did not return to building until March at which point we discovered our boat and it's damage which amounted to almost $4000. Work has been sporadic over the last 6 months and as of September 2008 is still not complete. There have been ongoing cost overruns which we have never received a change order for our approval. Kodiak, also, did not have knowledge of the building codes in the area which resulted in work having to be redone when the project was in violation of the county requirements. In our frustration,we have recently withheld about $20,000 in our effort to encourage Kodiak to complete the work and instead of working with us, Kodiak has encouraged subcontractors to put a lien on our property. We have heard from a number of the subcontractors that the bid Kodiak gave us for work to be completed was less than what the sub was actually billing for their work. Our summer at the lake was ruined by sporadic work on the boathouse, construction debris scattered over the property and the ongoing frustration getting this small project completed. This was our first experience with building anything and it has been a horrible!
