NATHANS PAINTING

Nathan's painting charged us a lot of money for a very poor quality paint job. It looked terrible the day they finished it, and it has only gotten worse. It is now failing after less than a year and I have to hire another company to fix their work.

Nathan was responsive and put together a good written bid, but his bid was the highest of several I received.

I thought the estimate was very reasonable for the work, especially considering how much was detailed, hand painting. Nathan was very responsive to any requests for information and offered suggestions to improve the job, and the crew he sent was professional, friendly and polite, and cleaned up EVERYTHING when they were done. Nathan had done some interior painting for me over 15 years ago, and I was very happy he was available for this job.

The painting job was excellent. He hired over 20 young men who work for him, but he was here and supervised them. He checked and rechecked their work and had them check at each other’s work as well. He did the final spraying of the house, which is rather larger. He was perfectly accommodating with all six colors that I wanted on the house. He didn’t object to them at all. I gave him the colors I wanted and he went ahead and got the paint done and got the work done. They came and started work in the morning, they tried not to be loud until 7-ish or something like that. They put in long days. It’s difficult to manage that many young men on the job but I thought he did an excellent job of it. And they had no trouble going up and down ladders. The only problem I had was the kids, even with supervision, they put their ladders up in the flowerbeds. But again, that was not something that we had discussed and I didn’t complain about it even when I saw it happening. So, there were some plants that were damaged by the kids walking through the flower beds and putting their ladders there. Although, it would have been somewhat difficult to have avoided that. But again, if I had made a point of it, I think they would have probably reined that in a little bit. When they painted the doors, they took off the weather stripping around the doors so that they could get the paint on the edges and everything, without interfering. They took down the heat tape on the roof, so that they could paint the gutters. They put everything back from where they had taken it down from afterwards. So, all that kind of thing was good. There were a few repairs that we had to make to the water system afterwards, where there were hoses that came up and things; but since I had not mentioned that and I didn’t complained to Nathan about it, I’m not going to count that against the work that was done. The painting itself was very well done. They also had us to a walk-around afterwards, a couple of times, to see if there was anything that we felt hadn’t been done correctly. I would give him high marks on that. He was not cheap but if you pay for service and you get it, I’m not going to complain about that. He used a very high quality premium paint and I felt it was worth it and I think my husband did as well. It was a reasonable price. I wouldn’t complain about the job that he did. He was very professional.

We got a detailed explanation of the service to be provided when Nathan came to do the estimate. Nathan is very personable and I felt comfortable with him to provide the service requested. When we made the decision to have Nathan do the job he responded promptly and we were worked immediately into the schedule. The prep work was very thorough on our previously ill-treated house (the house was a rental for two years prior to our buying it.) The work was done in a timely manner and the quality is great. I would highly recommend Nathan's Painting to anyone needing their home painted.

We had a fantastic experience. When we called for an estimate, he returned our phone call the same day and came out shortly thereafter. Sadly, that's a rarity in Moscow. Chalk up a point for Nathan's Painting: he responds to customers. He showed up on time for the estimate appointment, and he mentioned lots of details - he would pull back the dirt from the foundation to be sure the cement foundation wouldn't show (because he'd paint lower than people would see) and other things like that. Punctuality: they were on time and usually early. Most days, work started at 6:15 or 6:30 in the morning and usually continued until 8:30 at night. When the house was pressure washed, Nathan had Joey do it gently so it wouldn't gouge the wood. Chalk up another point for Nathan's Painting: looking out for our house. Joey (very hard working!) and occasionally other crew spent four full days scraping, caulking, and priming the house to prepare it for painting, then taping off windows and doors. FOUR DAYS - amazing attention to detail! Since we work in education, we were around for much of the work, and they really were working meticulously. Another four and a half days (including weekend days) were spent painting the house and trim. It was sprayed on, two coats, and they went back and painted the underside of the pieces of siding by hand instead of just saying it was good enough the way it was. The final day, we walked around the house, pointing out any spots we thought needed touching up (there weren't many). We LOVE our house, and we've gotten so many compliments on it! We really can't thank Nathan's Painting enough: they were professional, punctual, and highly skilled, and they take pride in their work. They only use the highest quality paint because their name goes behind their work. If you need exterior or interior work, look no further than Nathan's Painting. Someone else may give you a lower bid, but I don't believe there's a better painter around.
