My husband and I enthusiastically recommend Les Dirks of Latah Custom Woodworks for your cabinet or furniture project. We met Les several years ago when he helped us in the remodel of our bathroom of our log home in Moscow just before we put it on the market. Log homes are a challenge to work with because of the lack of studs which makes everything visible and Les custom made a vanity and medicine cabinet out of hickory as well as milling a façade of cedar logs to camouflage an unsightly pipe. After moving to Spokane, we invited him to come give us a bid on replacing the cabinets in the kitchen of our one level retirement home in the South Perry District. We told Les what we wanted to see in the space, and he worked with us to achieve that. Other special custom additions in the bid included soft close hinges all around, Brazilian cherry cutting board, routing on the back of all of the cabinet shelves so I can store platters vertically, and a top panel on the cabinets so I can display special items on top of the cabinets." We chose hickory again, and with the help of pictures in magazines and on the web to guide our planning, he built beautifully functional and expanded kitchen cabinets in a Great Room setting. We chose to have Les use High Definition WilsonArt 'River Gemstone' for our counter cover and to have him use the same material for the backsplashes and we kept the original tile behind the free standing gas stove. Note the contrast of the stainless steel/black and the counter with the light walls and the light cabinets. He installed LED under-counter lights with motion sensors and finished the cabinets as he would a fine piece of custom furniture. Les is a meticulous and impeccable craftsman and absolutely honest. He very thoughtfully built and installed the cabinets in stages so we would have a functioning kitchen as long as possible.
Description of Work: He built new kitchen cabinets.
