"Thank you your review, we appreciate the opportunity to do business with you. Thank you again, Jenni McGuire Customer Care Representative"
The response was quick, and I was scheduled for the following day. The electrician showed up early (called first to okay it), quoted the job and while other work is needed, he didn't push me into anything more than what I wanted at the time. He was able to finish the job without me being present, and take payment by phone, which is a huge plus, as I work long hours and it is difficult for me to get away.
"We at, Mainstream Electric appreciate the opportunity and thank you for the business and positive review. It was our pleasure. Jenni McGuire Customer Care Representative"

I would only use them again only if I got a firm itemized cost up front.
The electricians were neat, clean, friendly, and knowledgeable.
I liked them and hope this won't get them in trouble!!!
"Thank you for your review it is appreciated. I apologize that I took so long for us to respond. Your satisfaction and our reputation are of great importance to us. After review of the work performed our records show that our electrician completed the 1st project on the 9/24 and a 2nd set of projects a week later on 9/29. Our electrician quoted you prices up front and in writing on 2 separate occasions for the work that was completed at your home. As far as there only being 1 hour to do the project our records show that combined time between the 2 days was almost 6 hours with drive time. I wish we could do electrical work for what the materials cost at Ace or Fred Meyer but we can't. If we did then we would not be in business very long. There is a lot more pricing an electrical job than meets the eye. It's not as simple as how much did the material cost and how long did it take you? Here's a list of cost that you may not have considered : Uniforms, Vacation Pay, Holiday Pay, Employee Insurance, FICA and Medicare, SUTA & FUTA, Unemployment, 401K Payroll, Tools, Shop Rent, Shop Supplies, Gas & Electric, Trash Service, Phones, Fuel, Vehicle Insurance, Business Licenses, Liability Insurance, Accounting, Legal Fees, Office Supplies, and much more... We are not ashamed to mention that we are in business to make a profit. It is our aim to provide our employees with the best compensation package in our local industry. We strive to provide you, the customer with drug free, well trained, honest, courteous, and well mannered technicians, who will treat your home with respect it deserves, and is an expert in electrical installations. We are fully aware that you could have hired another electrician to make repairs for less money or maybe even a handyman for half again what you would have paid them and you may have been very satisfied with the repair. But do these types of companies take care of their employees? Are they able to keep them working year round? Is this person licensed, bonded and insured? Are they drug free? Would you trust these people in your home? I hope this explanation will convince you of the value of our services. Sincerely, Jenni McGuire Customer Care Representative"

"Thanks for submitting your review I’m sure it’s hard to find time when you spend so much time in Seattle working. At Mainstream Electric we are always striving to provide the best service possible. Contracting is not an easy business. I believe that most companies do their best to give the best price that they can. With that being said there are many reasons why a price can vary from contractor to contractor. Time of year and how busy a company is at a particular time can reflect a difference in price. Some Companies lower their prices in slow times just to keep employees working. I’m glad to say that we are as busy now as we were in December 2013 when we completed your job.( If you know of any drug free, clean cut, hard working electricians please send them our way we are in need of 5 more to get through the summer and fall months.) Not many companies are growing right now but we are. The low bid strategy is another way jobs are estimated. The low price wins and because it was just an estimate if the job doesn’t go smoothly or they missed something in the estimate it’s no problem to ask for more money. Estimates are just guesses. If you didn’t receive a written quote from bidding contractors it’s just a guess! Most contractors use this method because they find it hard to get any work otherwise. Their low price could be temporary and it’s all they have going for them at the time. Here at Mainstream Electric we have made it our practice to give a guaranteed quote for any job that we do up front and in writing. We do this so you know exactly how much the job is going be before any work is started. We stick by our price once the contract is accepted and signed. Our quote is good for 90 days so there is no pressure to have the work done that day but we are prepared to start if that’s what our customer needs and want us to do. It’s up to you. Your project did go well for us and took us less time than we originally thought so we did give a small refund after you called voicing concern that other companies were cheaper. If the project had taken us longer, was more difficult than we originally thought, or you could see that we would lose money on the project would you have offered to pay more? Most people will usually say no and we would not have accepted it even if you offered. We wouldn’t have accepted because we entered into a contract with you and we live up to our promises by doing the right thing. We make no excuses when we make a mistake on a quote or a project we just take care of it. We are not always the cheapest but I am very proud to say that we offer a full benefit package to all of our employees to include health, dental and vision insurance which we pay 100% of the employee’s premium. We also provide paid vacation, paid holidays, and a retirement package with matching. We could probably lower our prices some but I would have to make it off the backs of my employees by taking away their benefits and I’m just not willing to do that. We are in business to stay in business for our amazing employees and continued care of the world’s best existing and future customers. Thanks for your review Todd Damschen, CEO"
10/5/14: having read Todd Dameschen's response, I stand by my account AND respect an employer who treats his employees as he reports. They do deserve it and not enough employers do ( or are able to do) this. All workers deserve health care, sick leave, and vacation, along with a decent wage.
