They seem professional and trustworthy... But I paid for a two year warranty, and less than one year later, the roof leaks like a sieve. TIM LACY pretended like he was coming out to fix it, but then refused to respond to my calls and texts for FIVE DAYS. I finally had to hire another roofing company, and it cost me $300 bucks. TIM LACY's REPUTATION IS ONLY WORTH $300 BUCKS! DON'T HIRE HIM!

At first, it was great. The job seemed adequate and Tim was professional, punctual and polite. I had a 15 year written warranty for the shingle part of the roof and a 10 year written warranty for the flattop part. A few years down the road, April of 2015, I had water coming in my laundry room, ruining the floor and I had black mold seeping through one wall. When I brought a contractor over, I was told that the roof on that part of the house should have been treated as a flattop roof, not a shingle roof, as it had less of an incline than the flattop part that was installed. I contacted Tim and he came over and said "We will take care of it - I will send a crew over next week". I then left him a message that I had some questions for him before he sent a crew over, as we didn't discuss the wall and floor. After that, it was almost impossible to communicate with him. It turned into a one-sided (his) shouting match at one time - him claiming he didn't even do the work when in fact he did. I got him to realize he did do the work at which time he apologized and said he would get back with me. This was after my attorney sent him a letter. When he didn't get back with me, I called him and he said "At this point, I don't give a sh#* about your roof" and started acting like he didn't do the work again. I am taking him to small claims court if the work isn't done by a specified time and he will lose. I might be a woman, but I am a smart one and a persistent one...

In February, 2013, I called and asked Tim Lacy of Flattop Roofing to tell me if he could fix a leak in a roof on a building I own. He said he would give me an estimate. After reviewing the roof, he said I probably needed a new roof but said that he could stop the leak and was in his words was "arrogant about his work". He went out and did the repair. He gave me a receipt stating that I would have a one year warranty. I went out to the property after the work was done to find a big mess on the porch of the back unit. I called Tim and asked him why he left the mess. He said he did me a favor by cleaning off my roof. I said, you didn't do me a favor because now I have to pay someone to haul away all the debris. He started yelling at me, using profanity, so I hung up on him. Fast forward to January 2014, less than one year later, the roof is leaking again, in the same place inside. I texted him to ask him if he was going to honor his warranty. He said if I answered my phone we could discuss it. I wrote back that there wasn't anything to discuss, I needed him to go verify that it wasn't leaking in the same place. He left me two messages, one calling me cheap for not replacing the roof and the next saying I was stupid for thinking he would warranty the whole roof. I left him a message and said he was completely unprofessional. He was the dumb one actually because if the roof needed a different place repaired, I would have probably rehired him. I have since had another roofer out to look at the repair work that Tim did and he said that it is, in fact, leaking where Tim fixed it. In Tim's message to me, he said he didn't need to waste his time and gas to go out and look because he knows it's not leaking where he fixed it. So basically, what I rec'd for my payment of $723. was disrespect and verbal abuse from a plebeian and a mess to clear away and a roof that still leaks. I feel that he should have at least honored his warranty by going out to make sure it was not leaking where he specifically fixed it, or alternately, if he couldn't do a decent job, he should have not done the work at all. Please steer clear of this rude, angry, hostile proletariat of a man.

Response from Flattop Roofing & Construction, Inc
WOW. Well I must say as the President of Flattop Roofing Inc. I am shocked that Miss [member name removed] is not more in touch with the reality of her situation and her roof condition. This building has 7 layers of roofing on it and is completely expired. Unfortunately in our field (Roofing), you cannot always repair every roof. Some need complete replacement like Miss [member name removed] roof. This is one of the worst I have saw in all my years of roofing. She is very tight with her money and does not want to spend the required amount to correctly fix it. That is the inevitability of this situation unfortunately Miss [member name removed]. You need to remove the existing roof (Legally) and replace it with a new roof. Until that takes place, you will continue to have issues. I appreciate you posting the Invoice on your complaint and showing that there is (No) Warranty on repairs to such roofs that are that bad of shape. Like I stated on the Invoice, we did all we could and I felt like we stopped the leak in question which we did. It is a given that more have showed up. I am truly sorry for your inconvenience and the fact that you will actually have to spend some money to fix it right. I wish you the best of luck not only with your roof, but in life. God Bless, Sincerely, Tim Lacy, President
