It was very embarressing to find out that the problem was nothing more than all of the bulbs being out at the same time. The fixture did not have a short of any type, it just happened that all of the bulbs went at the same time. They spent all of the time necessary to find out if there was any other problems and they were quite professional while they were in the house. I would most certainly use them again.
Description of Work: Light fixture not working for unknown reason. C&K Electric came and did a wonderful job tracking all of the connections to try and figure the problem. It turned out to be that all of the bulbs were blown out at the same time. Go figure

C and K were efficient, neat, and very cooperative. A few times they waited for me to make decisions without explaining what they were waiting for, but once I figured that out I started being more proactive. After that they educated me when I didn't have enough information to make decisions about placement of outlets and switches and about types of lights. They also asked me before doing any extra changes (like the ceiling fan wall switch), and kept me informed of the problems that they found. They had to remove a lot of sheet rock, so I can see that the wiring they put in is very tidy and organized. Also, they didn't leave a big mess behind. They appear to have an excellent relationship with the city building department and kept me informed about inspections that were done along the way. I was shocked by the amount of the final bill, but it was very detailed and when I went over it, I knew it was carefully and accurately prepared. I am pleased to have a house that will not have electrical problems for many years to come. I would definitely recommend them to friends and will call upon them should I need any further electrical work.
Description of Work: I bought an older home and wanted to add lights in one room and remodel the kitchen. It didn't sound like such a big job, but it required bringing the service up to code, which meant moving the circuit breaker box. I checked with the city building department to verify that all that work was needed, and they assured me it was. Then, once C & K began the work they discovered some extremely serious problems--including some wires with badly charred insulation; it was nothing short of a miracle that the house hadn't burned down. The result was that I had to have the house grounded and substantially rewired. C & K also installed small, high-efficiency electrical heaters to replace very old and inefficient gas wall heaters, put canister lights in the ceiling of my new kitchen, fixed some very awkward switches, wired in smoke detectors, and put the living room ceiling fan on a wall switch so that I don't need a pull cord in the middle of the living room. Since I'm less than 5' tall, I'd have needed to extend the fan's cord to a length where it would be in everyone else's way, but I never would have thought of the wall switch myself. The house will be much more comfortable and convenient because of their thoughtful work.
