I got several estimates from landscapers and it came down to two landscape companies. I reached out to Chad to get clarification on a water feature we wanted and to make sure he would be able to do the electrical for the water feature, as the other company would have to sub out the electrical. He assured me he would be able to handle the electrical part of the job. He asked what he had to do to get my business. His quote was higher than the other landscaper, but I liked that he would be able to handle the electrical portion of the job, so we went with him. He gave us a start date of April 24th, weather permitting. We did have some heavy rain, so I figured the job would be delayed. Two days before he was due to start our job, I reached out to him to confirm he was going to start. He sounded surprised I called him and forgot he was due to start our job. I had scheduled fencing, install of a storage shed and install of a mini split to coincide with our landscaping. When I reminded Chad about this, he said he forgot and would come out and at minimum grade our property so the fencing could proceed. Well, he arrived and took a look at our property and said it needed very little grading. He left and gave me another start date. As a result of his postponed start date, I had to reschedule the storage shed and mini split install. The 2nd start date came and, again, he never called to confirm he would be starting. AGAIN, I had to contact him. So we get a 3rd start date and again he can't start. He slipped up and mentioned he got additional work added to jobs he was currently working on, so he would be delayed. Communicating this would have allowed me to alter my plans and hire another company. When I asked him when he could start, he said 2-3 days later. He initially told me the job would take 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to complete. This time, he said it would take 3-4 weeks. I told him he put me in a bad spot and I should probably look at going with another company. He responded, "yeah I think that's good idea." I ended up using the other landscaping company (Landscape Services Company LSC Jason Barinsky) and they were able to finish the job in 2 weeks. They showed up when they promised and did an outstanding job!!! They looked at our property and noticed the property needed significant grading. Chad told me what I wanted to hear to get the job and didn't follow through with his promises. His lack of communication and failure to keep a schedule he promised is very unprofessional and a horrible way of doing business. He did not hesitate to walk away from doing the job, which again, is very unprofessional.
