I brought my Laptop to this repair shop, because the machine told me that new internal cooling fan was needed. Once the correct part was obtained, I called a few days later, and was told that the laptop would not boot up. This was blamed on the Hard Drive although it was not tested to verify. This was on a Friday, and throughout the rest of the afternoon, I tried to find out what was going on, but no one answered the phone. The weekend was very stressful, because I had no idea what was going on. I finally received a call from The manager apologizing, and promising a discount. I reminded him that the only thing wrong with the Laptop was the cooling fan, and that means a mistake was made. The drive was cloned, and Windows was reinstalled, which took a full day. This made me late for a revision for a file that was to a Lender Client. I had to go to the shop and borrow a computer to temporarily load my software, and get a revised file to my client. I also found out that when my hardware was wiped to reload Windows, I lost use of a vital part a program that I didn't want upgraded. That was a huge loss, along with years of vital bookmarks, a valuable legacy software program, and passwords. This hard drive was refreshed without asking for my permission. When I finally got it back, it was 5 times slower in starting up, and the DVD drive would freeze up the machine. I brought it back, and when the DVD drive/player was removed, the machine worked fine. The manager wanted to take it apart, too see if a more careful reassembly might line things up better. I dropped it off on a Tuesday, checked by text, and email, but no answer. I drove back into town to at least get some information transferred to an external drive. I was told by the owner that his manager couldn't find my DVD drive, which was in the same suit case as the laptop. While I was doing a data transfer from a cloned drive, I decided to check my laptop out before I left. Much to my horror, when it started there was a boot failure message. I asked the owner to put the cloned hard drive in the machine, which gave the same result. He agreed that there was another, bigger issue. He thought I should replace the laptop, and I was not going to buy anything from there. The likely part that was not working was the motherboard, and I asked them to get the part number for me, so I could get one ordered and expedited. At this point, I was one week away from absolutely needing my laptop, as the entire time I was dealing with this nightmare, I was recovering from surgery on my hand. Today, January 29th, I needed to have that part number in the morning, but I suspected that there would be no effort made to take the laptop apart, and when I came in before noon, it was still sitting in it's suitcase. I said that I needed it, and I left with it. I then was forced to order a replacement online, so that it would come by the end of the week. There is not even basic communication, no proper testing, and what I consider offensive indifference to the plight that they created. If there was even a decent effort to get my laptop repaired, especially considering that it was running fine when I brought it in, I would have worked with them on the cost of the part that is causing the issue. Whatever reason that the computer will no longer work is more than likely their doing. They did not make any kind of reasonable effort to help make it right. My laptop is sitting until it can be shipped to Western Washington, where a trusted teenager will get it back up, and running. This fiasco has cost me well over $600 and counting, on lost time, because my software that has been customized over 10 years is back to the beginning, and the legacy software that was attached to it, had to be replaced, and it a nightmare to operate. Then there is the cost of replacing the computer, so that I can work. Stay away.
