This independent handyman/contractor used poor judgment in all of the projects he did for us. For example, choosing to use poor quality framing lumber that will now need extensive wood filler & patching before painting. The oak door he built was lovely but unusable due to his using warped lumber. To which he responded initially by saying "darn wood" and then by telling us how we should try to remedy it. The other plywood access door he built did not function properly (too tight) & was secured to the surrounding area w 1x4 rough lumber & glue as one might do for a similar project in a garage or shed, not in your home. The oak threshold was beautiful when he completed it but he forgot to account for the difference in floor height in the adjoining room, which was why the old one needed to be replaced. He came back and fixed it but charged us for his time and add'l supplies even though he'd been clearly asked ahead of time to cut the oak with that end in mind. He did not take any notes when shown the jobs or during subsequent instruction and consequently did them differently than he was asked to. He might possibly be an adequate person for very basic remodel work, w/ supervision, but he does not realize his limitations nor show good work ethic as far as taking credit for his mistakes or trying to remedy them when they occurred. If you hire this person you can count on being in the position to pay him to fix what he does incorrectly and also being asked for payment and reimbursement on a daily basis - overall, a completely frustrating experience.
Description of Work: Enlarged openings and replaced 2 sets of slab doors; created openings and access doors for 2 new small storage areas within kitchen cupboards & replaced a broken oak threshold.
