Slender Paving

Having waited weeks for a local paving company to set a date for my driveway a representative from Slender paving knocked on my door and asked if I would be interested in having my driveway blacktopped so I asked for a quote. They came in several hundred dollars above what the local company had bid it for and I said that I would go with the other company. He asked what the bid was and when he was told agreed to do it for the same amount. Promising that they could do it the next day I agreed. A few specific requests, which were part of the bid from the other company (e.g. wings on the entrance), we agreed upon the price and work to be completed. As they were finishing the paving I noticed that there were no "wings" as were requested and physically had been drawn in the dirt with my foot. I was told it would be taken care of and as I had to leave to take care of some business in town I left assuming it would be done as requested - MISTAKE. When I came back the representative came to collect the check I went out and showed him what was not done as requested and he simply said "sorry" and took the check. To add insult to injury, prior to starting the job, he had asked me if I have a 1/2" deep socket they could use to replace all the planks on there trailer which was rotted (just another clue I ignored) and when I asked if I could have it back, he said "could we still use it for a little longer as we are still working on the trailer?" He must have read the look on my face and said "I will go get it for you." Over all the driveway is blacktopped but the wing was not completed and the sides are not done very evenly - having never blacktopped I assume this was normal - but having done concrete work for many years I doubt it to be so. Another concern was that they stated they were out of Meridian, Idaho but all my research on reviews showed them only out of Phoenix, Arizona, all though most of the reviews were fairly good. Lesson learned; go with your local provider and not some roving company. Kind of reminds me of the old barn painters growing up down south. Job looked great until the rain came.

They performed the task well and it was performed as projected. We have had the driveway coated many times and this appears to be the most thorough job. If it holds up for a couple of years, we will not hesitate to call on them again. They are knowledgeable and professional.

Work went smoothly. Several colors of chip rock were offered. The job took 2 days to complete.They had all of the crew & equipment needed to do the work.

It's great working with a contractor who is customer focused. They were prompt on returning any calls I made and on time for all meetings. The work they did was outstanding. Looks absolutely great. We will be having Slender Paving do additional work in the near future.

The estimate was given on the day I requested it. The work commenced the next day. This process took approximately five hours. The workers were very efficient and the results were better than I expected. Now, I no longer have to try to seal the cracks that really never disappeared with my attempts at recoating every couple of years.

I knew that I was probably going to have to pay additional costs because my driveway had developed more cracks than were covered by the Angie's List deal. I was surprised when it was only an additional $100. Four guys showed up to preform the work and it was quickly and correctly. They were careful not to get any of the sealer on my newly painted house, which was very much appreciated.

They showed up when they were supposed to, answered all my questions, and scheduling was easy. They were able to give me a price range for the different options and they were actually gave me a couple of houses in the area that they've done so I could go and look at the work they've done. We will absolutely use them when it's time.

Watch out! This company may have been good in the past but has gone down in the last 6 months under new management. They promise to come back to take care of issues but they will not. Yes, their communications are great before you hire them but not afterwards. They price the jobs on what they think you will pay, and they will hound you and make all kinds of false promises to get the work. They will reduce their price from their initial quote but they are not worth it. Buyer Beware!

I did not go well. Provider had stated before we agreed to the work that the existing road was "chip seal" and he has going to "chip seal" in 4-5 spots where the road was deteriorating, 80% of it in a circular turn around area. He said it would take time driving over it for the gravel to bond. There was so little oil applied that all we have is pea gravel on top of the old road. Not enough oil was applied to bond the gravel together. All we see is gravel, including at the entrance from the public road, where we have loose gravel bouncing around, making it easy for a car to slide-it was safer there before the gravel was added.

All went as planned. Communication with company was good, quality was as expected. I'm pleased with the deal and service.

Excellent. Previous source had disappeared on us and we needed work done fast. Called couple of asphalt cos in Tucson - Slender called back personally and was interested in expanding his market to Green Valley. Scheduled the work for Friday and then called to see if he could do day earlier as another job rained out. His crew was on job at 7am - 5 men; two trucks including towed lowboy for equipment and dump truck for gravel and tanker for asphalt. Crew chief asked questions about borders of driveway; volunteered to scoop old gravel to a designated dump spot as I wanted to use it for other landscaping (otherwise they would have taken it away) and did so; Team worked 4 hrs without stop and did work with no shortcuts. Very pleased. Slender said he would honor two year guarantee and also do repairs after if needed but that driveway should last 20 years.

Job was done in a timely fashion. The cracks were filled properly and the overall look of the driveway is great. The crew was friendly and courteous. Not sure that our driveway is 5,000 sq. ft. = the price $750 ($299 on Angie's List for 2,000 sq ft. and an additional $450 which is for an extra 3,000 sq. ft. @ .15 a sq. ft.) But the quality and promptness it was worth it.

The chips are placed over your old asphalt and a new oil base. It is a substantially less expensive product but still looks very attractive, certainly better than the asphalt did - new or old. I should add that we had nearly 8000sf of driveway to repair. Pavers run over $6.00 a sf which made that option cost prohibitive. Re-asphalting was an option but we don't like the look of asphalt. Cement is also quite expensive. Just putting gravel was cheaper but we were concerned with maintenance. We finally decided on the chipseal and incorporated a border of pavers around the entire drive. It gives it a clean, attractive look without the high cost. I believe the chipseal cost was between $1 to $1.50sf - it's been almost a year since installation, so I don't remember exactly.

Following my inability to find a local provider to chip seal my driveway, I located SLENDER PAVING in Tucson, AZ. Slender Paving completed a chip seal of my driveway, which is approximately 0.1 mile in length, in less than one day. The crew was professional, careful of all landscaping details, helpful and attentive. Mr. Slender was present to oversee the crew and listened carefully to my concerns. I was pleased in all respects with the outcome. There was a Senior Discount.

Owner came personally to give me a proposal and advice. Crew came as promised, along with a supervisor. They were friendly, professional, and conscientious. They finished the project as promised. Supervisor then reviewed the job with me, and had his crew apply a little extra sealant to the areas with the most wear. Owner then checked in to ensure my satisfaction. Overall...a great job at a fair price. I trust Lenny Slender to treat you the same if you do business with him. Highly recommended versus 3 other paving companies that I had used in the past.

This was an excellent deal for a 3000 square foot driveway with lots of big cracks. They put on a generous coat and I was impressed with their quality control by doing several inspections during the job. The end result looks great.

Outside of some minor scheduling confusion, Leonard and his crew took care of a rapidly deteriorating length of driveway. There were some cracks and plants attempting to further diminish our existing driveway out here on the west side. There's a steep (5 foot) gradient at the beginning of the driveway and then a gentler gradient that runs a considerable length of cracking pavement from the street to the house. The crew was able to seal those cracks, do some light fill and then re-coated the length of the driveway and chip sealed it for what I felt was a reasonable cost. They also widened it where they were able to do so while addressing some modest edge crumbling that they encountered. The crew was pleasant and attempted to be as unobtrusive as possible and were willing to explain what they did, why they did it and how the choices made would be for the best in both the short and long run for the amount of time my purchase of the services and product would provide. I have no problem recommending their work and will most likely consider them at the top of the list for when I tackle the parking area in front of the house.

My asphalt driveway needed extensive crack filling and new sealcoat. In addition, I wanted stone brought in to landscape the backyard, resurface the carport, and stabilize an eroded area. Leonard came promptly when I called for a quote on the driveway. I was afraid I might have to use a separate contractor for the stone, but Leonard said that he could do both jobs, and gave me what I felt was a fair quote. The work was scheduled within the timeframe I needed. His crew arrived on time. The overall job took longer than expected due to a combination of bad luck (truck breakdown), bad weather (rain), and a bit of disorganization (his foreman/project manager had just gone on leave), in addition to which I am very particular and probably added some time to the stone project with my specific requirements. Nonetheless, throughout it all, Leonard and his crew remained pleasant and focused on getting the job done properly. I found Leonard responsive and easy to work with throughout the job. We decided early on to add some stone to the original quote, but this was driven by my wishes, rather than a means to inflate the quote. There was some incidental property damage, for which Leonard took immediate responsibility, and we came to a satisfactory arrangement on; damage from heavy equipment to the fragile paving of the street was repaired at the end of the job. I am very pleased with the work done by Leonard Slender and my interaction with him and his crew. My driveway is functionally beautiful: the cracks are thoroughly plugged and sealed with hot rubber, while the surface is protected by a high-quality sealer. The stone landscaping is just the way I wanted it and looks great. I was treated well and received good value for a fair price. I could have gotten a cheaper quote, but I doubt the quality would have been the same. I'd use his services again and recommend Leonard Slender to other Angie's List mebers.

It went extremely well. They were professional, punctual, and finished the job in a very timely manner. The final result looks great and my driveway (which is large) looks 500% better and even looks larger. I would highly recommend Slender Paving!

Got three estimates, this was the best by a small margin, but their flexibility to meet my schedule is what got them the job. Leonard's nephew David Wells did the actual work and did a very nice job. I was out of town for a couple of days and so I wasn't here to keep an eye out... everything turned out as planned. Would definitely use again.

The preparation and resealing went exactly as promised. I consider the workmanship very neat and excellent. When the job was complete their clean up of excess material was great, no complaints.
