Description of Work: I contacted a total of four painters based on recomenndations from other contractors we were working with in doing work on our home in Eagle; I chose Royce Custom Finishes to actually paint our house based on Angie's List recommendations and on my personal contact with Greg when he came to our home - the work that he proposed was far above and beyond that of the other bidders and I appreciated his enthusiasam and professionalism and the fact that he showed up and called when he said he would! After accepting Greg's offer we immediately learned that my husband was leaving his job in Boise and that we would moving; I called Greg and asked if he could give us another bid to spruce the house up a bit for the sale - touching up pain, etc. He came to the house and "washed" a few areas as a test, and gave us a very reasonable bid to touch up peeling and fading paint on the trim. The house sold before he could come do the work and when I cancelled again he was very polite and and congradulated us on selling the house so fast! In hearing what others had to say about Greg and our experience I would have gladly had him paint our house. We have our own experience in construction after building our own home in the past and have worked with MANY contractors over the years and I believe we would have been pleased with our experience with Greg.

+ 2 moreThis was my second experience with Royce Painting. Greg painted most of the interior of my home a few years ago and did a beautiful job. The contractor had sprayed the paint so thinly that you could not wash the wall without taking off the paint and disturbing the drywall texture underneath. Greg used very good paint and hand rolled/brushed on two good coats. He had made sure I had paint left for "touch-ups" from the original job so we were able to use that paint to make the repairs so it was a perfect match. He is also very helpful in choosing paint colors, he has a good eye for color. Greg is professional, meticulous and does not cut corners. I have been very happy with his work!
Description of Work: I had a leak in my roof which resulted in a pillow size paint bubble in the high ceiling of the great room and a "running" drip in the adjoining wall and another large leak in a bathroom ceiling. He repaired the damaged drywall in the ceilings and wall and matched the plaster texture perfectly, he repainted everything and you can't tell the leak ever happened. No retouch paint marks or margins in the plaster work that give away a repair. I added on to the job and had him paint my master-bedroom and bath and a large bonus room over the garage. There were some screws that had popped through the drywall mud as the house had settled and he reset them and repaired the drywall texture along with some minor nicks in the wall. Beautiful job!

+ 3 moreI have used Royce Custom Finishes before and did not bother to get another estimate because I knew the job would be well done and the price fair. The original paint job on the house was badly done and painted very thinly, it had not been caulked or prepped properly the first time and there were nails that needed to be reset and places not visible from the ground that had never been painted. Greg and his crew pressure washed, prepped, caulked, repaired and painted everything including all the rain gutters and down spouts. They worked around my landscaping and did not damage or drip on anything. They even cleaned up and repaired damage done by the original painters. Greg Royce was very helpful (and patient) in choosing and coordinating paint colors. This company does excellent, quality work. They are punctual, pleasant, and trustworthy. I would not hesitate to hire them.
Description of Work: Exterior of 3000 square foot house pressure washed, caulked, prepped, painted. All exterior lights and fixtures removed and replaced for painting. Four colors used in body, trim and accent, rain gutters and spouts painted. Two good coats of quality paint applied. Paint application was a combination or hand rolled, bushed and sprayed. In addition the previous painter had over painted vinyl windows and screens and dripped white paint all over black roof, these problems were cleaned or repaired.

+ 1 moreI HIGHLY recommend Greg--more emphatically than I can do justice to in this written report. He did fantastic work for us at an unbelievably good price (the longer he worked, the more we realized what a bargain his flat rate was). We had bids from several local companies--companies that seemed quite good--but the deciding factor for us was that Greg, who's a perfectionist, would do all the work himself. I read another report about him here on Angie's List and the client mentioned how impressed the client's landscaper was with Greg's prep work. That was a big selling point, and then the same thing happened to us. We had some people here doing a home energy audit and every time one of the auditors had to go into the back yard, he would come back praising the level of prep Greg was doing (the two did not know each other!). I was particularly happy about that because, frankly, I didn't start out knowing enough about painting to judge (watching Greg work taught me a lot). I should note that Greg gave us a flat price for labor only on this job. We bought the materials ourselves (which is the way I wanted it). We spent about $500 on materials, including items like concrete and numerous paint samples. Even though we were paying for the paint, Greg was very conscious of what we were spending, and he was not wasteful. Also, for potential clients in Las Vegas, I will say that Greg is worth waiting for. When I first called him in October, Greg was working on jobs at home in Idaho, but was planning a trip down to this area in November to see family, and I had a good feeling about him, so I decided to wait to do the painting until he could do it. I am very very happy that I did. The house looks great! Every time I walk or drive up to it, I can't help but smile. I truly couldn't be more pleased, and because of that, we are now hiring Greg to work on the inside of our house (removing the popcorn ceilings and painting throughout).
Description of Work: Greg painted the exterior of our 25-year-old single-story 2140-square-foot wood-and-stucco Las Vegas home. This was the first time the house had been painted since it was built, and it required A LOT of prep work. Greg fixed all the cracks in the stucco, caulked the stucco to the eves and fascia, caulked all needed areas around the wood trim and windows, patched the concrete below the stucco, sanded and primed all the wood, patched the fireplace stucco, reinforced portions of the fascia, patched some ceiling drywall in the garage, and sanded and resanded the original front door. Only then was the house ready for paint. Greg gave us color ideas after hearing our rather undefined thoughts on the matter, then painted large color samples for us to consider at various times of the day and in various light. He then PATIENTLY went to Home Depot again and again for more and more color samples. At one point, we were considering 5 or 6 very similar shades of green for our wood trim and Greg gave us the latitude to make our decision as deliberately as we wanted to. He was equally patient as we obsessed over the front door color. He gave us good suggestions (we eventually chose the first color that he had suggested for the stucco body of the house) and guidance, but he also understood that we needed to take the time to choose colors that made us happy. When the color that we picked for the front door turned out to be a truly problematic color, Greg worked tirelessly for two days sanding and priming and repainting to make sure the result was perfect. Greg was also tireless in every other aspect of the painting. Our 25-year-old wood trim was voraciously sucking up paint despite having been well primed, so Greg painted several additional coats on the problem wood. After he completed the painting, Greg replaced our existing exterior lights with new ones that we had purchased. He did the same for the street numbers that are attached to the house and the door bell. He even fixed our mail box, adding concrete to the hole where the post was balanced so that the mailbox finally stood up straight. As an added bonus, he patched a 2' x 2' hole in a wall inside the house that a plumber had made a number of years before. We are not handy do-it-yourself types, and Greg's willingness to do all these extras at no extra charge was wonderful for us. Not only did he save us money, but he ensured that everything was finished--and perfect--before he left us.

+ -1 moreGreg is fantastic and I highly recommend him. He has family in Salt Lake and so he was happy to come into town both for the bid and for the job. We had had two other bids, and Greg's bid was significantly lower. Regardless, his work was first rate. He was very thorough, and did a nice job with the details. He was able to make a color match to the Hardy board on another part of the house (described above), and it matches perfectly. He also did a lot of trim work, on our porch, which needed some pillars and ceiling painted. This trim had been peeling, and Greg did a great job of preparing the wood to be painted. Greg even did some weed-wacking to get the weeds growing next to the house down so that the paint job would be complete, down to the ground. The weather was unseasonably cold, which I imagine made the job more difficult, but Greg finished the job quickly. I really could not have asked for more. It was a great experience.
Description of Work: Greg painted the exterior of our house. There is an addition to our house that is new construction and does not need painting because it is Hardy board. Greg found the color to match the hardy board color. He also painted the trim, which was a second color.

Description of Work: Prepared, caulked, cleaned and painted the exterior of our home with a three color scheme. Replaced old garage lights and yard light with new. Replaced old brass door hardware with new satin nickle hardware. Repaired a couple of exterior door casings that had dry rot. Repaired a support column on patio cover that was damaged by a previous contractor. Sealed a leak where the patio cover attaches to the house that was a result of shoddy workmanship by a previous contractor.

+ -1 moreGreg is a great painter and who knows the material and techniques to do a super job. His price was the lowest that we had quoted as well. We had some initial delays getting started due to weather and previous jobs that he was finishing up, but once he got started, things were finished in a very timely manner. I explained that our garage was old and would be replaced in a few years, but we needed a coat of paint to last until then. Nothing fancy, just make it last. He worked to our requests and the new paint looks great. He even fixed up some areas near the roof that were not flashed correctly. The 2nd part of the job was the doing the trim on our mother-in-law house. It was in bad shape. He did a great job of preping it and painting it.
Description of Work: We had Greg prepare and paint a garage. This work included replacing and adding some trim boards that were damaged or missing. Additionally, we had him prep and paint the trim on a mother-in-law house that is on our property.

The best testimony came when our landscaper/contractor asked for Greg's card. He said Greg does the best work he's ever seen. We were very happy with what he charged. He made himself very available (within our schedule) to give us an estimate on the job - including (VERY important to me!) suggestions for painting schemes. After our initial discussion, he offered to provide samples and encouraged us to view the paint during various times of the day. After deciding on colors/schemes - he spent a lot of time on the job, getting everything perfect. We love the final product and have had numerous compliments from the neighbors. We HIGHLY recommend Greg!! NOTE: Just another recommendation - Greg is a registered contractor in the State of Idaho. I am in the banking industry and fully appreciate the importance of checking out your contractor. PLEASE take the time to check out the Idaho State Contractors Board website. You cannot only verify that your contractor is registered in the State of Idaho, but can also verify that there are no pending complaints against him/her.

Greg's was not the lowest, but I decided to hire him based on his experience, looking at one of his other jobs in our neighborhood, and his plans for prepping,etc. Greg helped us with our choice of colors by painting actual samples on the house, on all sides so we could see the differences in different light. He took his time to prepare the house by washing, sanding and caulking. While doing the painting Greg would notice little things that needed to be done that would fall under 'handyman' services; if we agreed, he would fix the problem. This was greatly appreciated. We were impressed by Greg's attention to detail, the neighbors even noticed the care he took with this job. He is knowledgeable about color combinations and without trying to make decisions for you, was able to advise and point out things that we wouldn't have thought of or noticed. This job turned out beautifully and we are completely happy with the results. We would whole-heartedly recommend Greg as a professional, honest, skilled craftsman.

The wood-finishing on the door and floor to ceiling windows had been damaged by water and the damaged part needed to match the undamaged part. He came out and gave me the estimate and I agreed to have him go ahead. He called before he came, let us know anytime he was to be delayed, and finished in 3 days. The wood matching was good, he cleaned everything up and there were no surprises in the total cost. I would use him again.

He helped us with color suggestions and supplied some samples which he put up on our house to help with our decision making process. He caulked all exterior gaps, of which we had a huge number, and was extremely thorough in prepping the house. My wife and I are extremely happy with the job that Greg did and I highly recommend him for his attention to detail and professionalism. He doesn't cut corners and is focused on doing it right, rather than doing it quick.

+ -1 moreGreg came out to the house to bid on the job and was very professional in his manner. After sifting through numerous other bids my wife and I decided on Greg. We set up a start date and Greg was punctual and ready to work. While he prepped the house he helped my wife and me decide on colors and a color scheme. This is our first home so Greg's advice and patience was very much appreciated. Once we decided on colors Greg had the house painted in no time. He finished a little behind schedule but that was mostly due to the weather. But even on the bad rainy days Greg was out there working, doing what he could. We came out a little over the original estimate, but that had to do with color changes and additional work that my wife and I had requested. Overall we are very happy with how our house looks! We definitely got more than our money's worth and would not hesitate to hire Greg again.

He was very patient and helpful..it took me awhile to decide on the colors. He even painted different color samples on the wall of us. Greg is friendly, he did a great job, covered the floors, carpet, furniture, and cleaned up at the end of each day. He also gave us painting tips..and how to get straight lines between the ceiling & the walls.
Description of Work: He painted the front entry way, living room, dining area, kitchen, hallway, and master bedroom. Most of the area has vaulted ceilings. He patched/textured areas around the fireplace..looks fantastic. Previous owners must have cemented some areas & not painted over the cement. Also painted the floor molding in these areas. Where he saw things that needed repair he fixed it before painting.

Once the colors where picked, the work began and the end result was fantastic! The paint was double and triple coated. The house looks new! Greg is also good with dogs, I know mine just loved to say, "Hi".

Description of Work: Greg did extensive interior painting in our home, as well as the complete exterior. In the interior, he helped with color selection and used subtle multi-hued shades in a soffitted area of the master bedroom to create a more beautiful effect. He also did the kitchen, a large eat-in nook and the family room as well as the entire exterior.
