My wife and I just bought a house that did not have central air conditioning installed. I got several bids from HVAC contractors in the Valley. Advanced was not the cheapest of the bids, but they were very reasonably priced. They also worked hard to put the outside unit in the location where we wanted it on the side of the house (several other contractors said it could only go right on the patio, which would have been loud and really inconvenient). Advanced is a licensed York dealer, which tends to be one of the lower cost equipment manufacturers, but the unit is great, quiet and is cooling the house very, very well. Overall, very pleased with Advanced. I would recommend them to anyone with HVAC/AC/Heating issues.

The quote was handwritten on a piece of paper. Our interaction was fine. The quote was three times more than I thought it was going to be. I thought it would be two or three grand and it was six. I got quotes from three different places. He was the only person that actually even wrote anything down. I asked for a comprehensive quote. The quote he wrote down was not good. It was just basic, like, "Here is the cost." If something is going to cost me five or six grand, I want to know why. I don't want it just written on a piece of paper because I know a new furnace and air conditioning unit itself isn't five or six grand. The guy was really nice. I just felt like they were exceedingly overpriced. Maybe they are. The other prices I got back were pretty close to that price. The guy actually never even got back to me, which is kind of funny. They came by, he wrote out a quote on a piece of paper and no one ever contacted me again. I specifically asked him, when he was here, for a more comprehensive idea on why it would cost so much and then, nobody ever got back to me. When I called, they were here the next day. But then, they never followed up with me.

Our records show that we received a request for quote on 6/29/15 and our Project Engineer, John, met with you on 7/3/15 at the home. Our project engineers are instructed to meet or exceed each customer prospect’s needs at each stage of the assessment/bid/installation process. The project bid proposal should always be driven by the planning time frame and specific needs and preferences of the client. We sometimes provide estimate ranges and general information, while other projects call for complete, immediate bid proposals with equipment, system accessories, and options clearly detailed and priced. From your review, John clearly mis-gauged your expectations of a comprehensive quote. I was glad you reported he was very nice, and that we were the only contractor to provide a written quote. And it appears that all quotes you received with in the same price range. When I discussed it with him, he felt that the prices you were receiving for the project were leading you to reconsider and/or research the project further. They did fine. Everything was handled. They didn't catch the hot water heater issue first so they had to come back a week later because they left it leaking. They were great about it. They came out and fixed it. Otherwise, I've had a good experience. It was not the cheapest out there but you also pay for what you get.

Young man, Josh, was pleasant and seemed informed, helpful. Did the yearly service. Upon completion, he told me the 'condenser fan motor' needed to be replaced. Expensive. I was stunned because the house has only been occupied for a few years and I've never had one of these motors go bad before. Then he offered to show me the problem. We went to the outside of the house to see what looked like car motor oil all over the top of the fan blades and the casing. He said the bearings were bad and this was causing the motor to lose it's oil. It seemed so odd to me. First, the oil was on the top and outside, and the unit is pretty new. He then told me that the motors are good for 5-7 years and I had this installed 7 years ago so it was 'time'. He was going to have the office call me with the estimate. He further stated that it had been failing for 'quite a while'. I asked how long a while and he said a long, long time. He told me I should have been maintaining the unit. I told him that I have the unit thoroughly serviced every year. I also reminded him that his company had installed this new system (zoned) just last year. He then said the motor has been going back for at least a few months. This was stunning because every year I've been told that the system is in great shape. This house was occupied for about 7 months in 2009, then vacant until I purchased in 2012. Its my 9th home. I've never had this part of my HVAC go bad. I am a senior citizen, living on my SS so this was very frightening to me. I went online to find costs of the motor and general idea of cost and time to install. Eepending on the type motor, the cost ranged from 80-140. I searched for the exact motor, not aftermarket. The office called the next day to tell me the cost for the install would be just over $600. I called another company. I explained that I needed the system inspected for the season and thought I might need a new fan motor. Meanwhile, the a/c began to make horrible noises. This was early the day after Josh serviced the unit.( The a/c had not been on much since he left because I had been out of the house until evening, then gone upstairs to bed.) It seemed obvious that he had done something wrong (inadvertently). The wall to my home (bet. garage and house) began to vibrate. I called them to ask for immediate help as I was concerned that the unit was being damaged. They would not send anyone until the next mid-afternoon, which I felt was poor service, considering he had just been there and it was apparent that something happened during his servicing. then, the woman I was speaking to said, "I told you that you needed a new fan motor". I really didn't feel the need to be admonished; I was in a panic.I said 'no thanks'. Our temps were in the 90's. I turned the system off. The next day Northwest showed up. He began to check my system but as soon as I turned it on, he said 'something is inside the chamber'. He took the system apart and pulled a large piece of insulation out that had been hitting the inside fan, causing the noise and the vibration. Gee, if only Advanced had cared enough to come, even after hours, to check on this for a customer who spent thousands of dollars with them last year and was about to spend more. Then, the tech checked the fan motor. said it was in great shape. I told him about all the oil. He was surprised. He asked where, how, what it looked like. I said it looked like car oil. Clean car oil. He took me to his truck, showed me a motor. He said "I just replaced this for a customer. it's 23 years old. Finally failed. Its exactly the same motor you have in your Trane unit." Then he showed me the thick grease used on the motor. Not what I had been showed the day before. Then he dispensed a bit of oil from a container onto a piece of cardboard. That was exactly what I had seen all over my outdoor unit with Josh. He told me that it wasn't the type of oil used to lube the fan motor. He wondered aloud if it had been spilled on top of the outside unit (exactly my thought the day before but Josh made it clear to me that this oil was coming from the inside of my fan housing) Tt's unfortunate. I thought I would be doing business with this company forever. Now, I have absolutely no confidence in them and almost wonder if I was being scammed. I hope nobody would do such a thing. They offer 24 hour emergency repair but I could not get any assistance. Between the salesman not making note of my agreed upon service and Bob not bothering to call to apologize or explain, then this unsettling situation, I will never again allow this company in my home. When I originally hired them (last year, $3000+ job), I hired because they were local, had been in business since '82, and I trusted Bob, having spoken to him on the phone during my decision process. I am now learning they have been owned by Bob since around 2008-9, and just used the prior company name and history of 'in business since 1982'. Frankly, that would have made a difference in my decision. I like local and long history. oh. and honesty. I really like that part best. UPDATE The owner, Bob, has requested that I update the original review. As stated by the owner of the company, Bob, I was visited after my review was posted in the hopes that I would have a change of heart. I appreciated the meeting and the effort. Bob offered me compensation, which I accepted. I will continue to doubt the situation with Josh, the young man who gave me such incorrect information. I almost spent an extraordinary amount of my limited income doing a repair that was not needed. I cannotexplain all of the 'oil' he pointed out to me. I had not seen it earlier that day, nor have I seen it since that day I simply do not trust him. My system continues to operate beautifully. I love the split system they installed. I believe it has saved me money, being more efficient. Bob seemed quite sincere as did his engineer, Eric. I have chosen not to let this review go to 'band of neighbors', nor have I told my neighbors or posted on our neighborhood website, the events that caused me to feel so negatively. This is the best I can do at this point. I had a difficult experience with the company and with 2 of their employees. I spent that evening on my couch downstairs, due to the extreme heat and could not get help. Bob explained that his crews were taking care of people in emergencies, people without an operating system. My system was not able to operate after Josh left. I think the company is well-intentioned but needs to do some housecleaning or retraining. I am using a different heating and cooling contractor now and feel quite secure. Given the circumstances, I would probably consider calling Bob or Eric again if I could be assured of their involvement. I know they mean well. I feel they are both honest. Having owned a company of my own, I also realize that employees can negatively impact your reputation and it's up to you, the owner, to maintain quality. I wish them the very best in the future.

This reflects a refund of your payment for the $79 a/c maintenance and diagnostic services that led to your most significant dissatisfaction and a $300 allowance for a 2-year full system maintenance program. Although we would have preferred to re-build your confidence by performing this service ourselves, I understand your basis for selecting another provider. Regarding the follow-up on your initial complaint of the unfulfilled promise of complimentary HVAC system maintenance to accompany our zoning system installation, I hope our re-listen of your voice message at least explained my assumption that urgency-to-act was not time-critical. Now to your more severe complaint regarding the diagnosis and, specifically, your conclusion that our technician was misleading and dishonest. Following our meeting with you, I met with the technician and his supervisor. Josh, the technician for your 6/15/15 service call, was both concerned and confused. “What would I gain by doing something like that?” Our technicians are not evaluated or commissioned/compensated on revenue levels or repair invoice amounts, so there is never an incentive to sell anything a customer does not need or want. Nonetheless, I fully understand your concerns and conclusions based on your description of the dialogue with our technician and office team member, and with the competitor’s technician the following day. On behalf of our entire service team, and our company, I apologize that our various communications to and with you led you to call another provider. I especially apologize that our diagnostic process and repair recommendation led you to conclude we were not honest or responsive to your needs. At that same time, I’m very sorry for the issues, responses, and perceptions you described in your review of our company. Although we install and repair equipment, we view this company as a pure service business. So we have great regret for the few times we don’t achieve full satisfaction of any customer, for any call. Service Tech Lee called to let me know he was on the way. He arrived at 8:30 am. as anticipated. He was neat and professional and politely listened to all my concerns. Answered all my questions. Unfortunately our most recent experience with Advance Heating was not consistent with our previous. Our air condition went out, they were prompt to reply, unfortunately the quality of work was not what I would have expected. The motor on our AC went out and they used a less expensive after market motor, without telling us and as a result left wires exposed on top of the unit. After contacting them I was told the more expensive original equipment would not have exposed wires, would have been nice to have that information. After reviewing the work it is clear to me that a little extra time would allow for the exposed wires to have been connected underneath the fan cage. I left a message upon returning from a trip and received a prompt call back, non the less the job could have been down much more professionally and with more information provided up front. I'm told I will receive a call back in the morning to figure out the go forward plan, I will post the outcome when complete.

He diagnosed a capacitor that had quit which he replaced. We asked him to check the filter (this was a house we had bought two months ago so we were not sure of filter location). He said the filter was the wrong size (and it was filthy) and we were very happy that he had a filter replacement on hand which we bought. We asked him to check the Freon on the system, which he said was ok. The technician Steven was very professional and knowledgeable and also pleasant in attitude. I would definitely recommend Advanced Heating and Cooling to others and we will use them for sure if we need further service or repair.

We called Advanced and the repair person came the next morning (on a Saturday). He diagnosed the problem quickly and had the part in his van so he fixed it and also did a couple of other things we asked him to check out (like change our filter and checked our Freon). We were very pleased with the service.

On the day of the repair, I was at my doctor's appointment when the repair person began texting and leaving me voicemails at 10:30am that he was at my house. I got there as quickly as I could and arrived at 11:30am. The repair person (a different one than the one who had done the estimate) re-evaluated the vent problem, quickly discovered a better solution, and was able to repair it in less than an hour--he was driving away a few minutes before 12:30pm. I am very happy with the quality of the work, and glad that the second repair person was able to find a better solution, but I am disappointed with the charges for the service. After the work was completed, the service person told me that the bill would still be $500-$600, but that I could talk to the owner if I wanted him to reconsider the charges. I spoke with the owner, who reduced the charges to $390, which included $79 for a service call, two hours of labor ($150/hr), and $10 for materials. I explained that the repair person had only spent an hour fixing the problem, but he was unwilling to reduce the labor charge to one hour. I feel that I am being charged for the time that the service person waited at my house for me to let him in, even though he was an hour and a half early. Again, I am very happy with the knowlegable repair person who was able to more efficiently make the repair; I just would like the charges to accurately reflect the true amount of time that the repair required.
Description of Work: Originally the repairperson examined the vent problem and told me that it could only be repaired by constructing a new chase from the furnace, across the garage ceiling and up into the upstairs bedroom that was not receiving heat or AC; he estimated that the work would cost $500-$600. I scheduled an appointment for the repair for a Tuesday afternoon, which I was told could be anytime after noon. I agreed to be at the house by noon, although I had a doctor's appointment until 11:00am.

This was the second time I called Advanced for service. They show up on time and did the work in a timely manner. The 1st time they replace the main controller for the furnace. 2nd time was for service. I would call Advanced again and recommend this company.
