About us

Guardian Plumbing, Heating & A/C, Inc. opened its doors for business in July 1977. It is a local, family owned business, owned and operated by Bill and Dixie Scharnhorst. Since its beginning, Guardian Plumbing, Heating & A/C has been involved in projects as small as the simplest service call to design build projects from conception to completion of jobs over $1.6 million. We offer design build, engineering and application services for items related to this trade. Our customers are served with a fulltime office staff working 5-days a week, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Our service department hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 5-days a week. We offer 24-hour emergency service 7-days a week. We have one of the largest inventories of heating, air conditioning, plumbing parts and equipment in the area. Our personnel staff consists of over 40 dedicated people serving the trade for over 40 years. Our technicians are N.A.T.E. and ACCA Certified, card carrying journeyman with both Idaho and Washington specialty electrical licenses. Our service manager and dispatch personnel have been in the trade for over 20 years. We have some of the most knowledgeable parts personnel in the trade with over 30 years experience. We are very well qualified to supply any and all of your HVAC, commerical refrigeration and/or plumbing needs.

My parents are elderly and live in Pomeroy. Guardian installed a heat pump for them several years ago. The first time it was wired incorrectly and they had to return to correct it. This winter it stopped working and they had no heat. The heat pump was still under warranty. I called Guardian after my parents said they had called several times and were "getting the runaround". I was completely shocked when the female employee who answered the phone told me that they were not going to make a special trip to Pomeroy for one customer. She explained they had no other "runs" in Pomeroy and would not respond. I would not recommend Guardian to anyone. This is an unethical and unprofessional business practice. What kind of company installs a product and then refuses to repair it when it is still under warranty? We called Up The Creek on Thain and they immediately responded and were very helpful.

The technician was able to find the problem and repair it in a very short time. Matt was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and respectful. His knowledge of the air conditioning unit was exemplary. He went beyond the normal repair work to ensure there was no other underlying issues. I commend Guardian Heating for employing competent, hard working individuals.

They're wonderful and I can't say anything bad about them. We've never had it happen before, the toilet tank started leaking, sprung a leak, can you believe that? I'm gonna rate them the highest on everything that you ask.

Description of Work: Our hot water heater went belly up and the folks at Guardian came to look at it. The repairman told me it would be $3,000 to replace it because of the style/venting. The gal at Guardian called me to say she was sending an engineer out to see if something different could be done. All the electrical was still there from before the remodel, so we now have an electric model---saving about $2,000! Another time they serviced our furnace, the outside faucet had been leaking but after he rinsed the filters I discovered he'd fixed the faucet too. No charge for making it stop leaking!! I'm happy these folks take care of their customers!!

Description of Work: We have had them check our heating/AC unit in the past. Always respond quickly and get the job done the first time. This time, our dog had chewed the wires on our AC unit outside. He came and repaired the wiring and put it in conduit, so the dog won't chew it up again, and he double checked the unit inside the house. He made sure all was working before he left. I thought it would be more $$$ than it was, so that was a nice surprise.

Description of Work: I live in trailer with plastic pipes that are quite problematic. I had a leaky pipe that goes to hot water heater and the floor in my bedroom had become a moat. Guardian was the only company that could give me same day service...Guardian not only showed up to assess leak but replaced the pipes too. Definitely will call them in the future!!!

They are always prompt and they are very good.
