The owner and his secretary were extremely helpful and patient while we selected the design and color we wanted. They loaned us any sample we wanted so we could take it home to 'visualize' which one looked best. Once we made our decision, R and J ordered the material and we scheduled the work. The workers who installed the countertop were very professional and the installation was done in a single day. We absolutely love our new kitchen, and plan to have R and J do three bathroom countertops.

This guy is the biggest jerk on the face of the planet. He lacks any level of professionalism whatsoever. Half Priced Granite is a franchise. The very concept of franchises is that products are the same but privately owned companies. We were initially told there were 6 colors to choose from. Go to halfpricedgranite.com and it's all laid out. When we first went into the shop the owner was on the phone with his wife. It was the middle of the afternoon and he was extremely put out by our presence. I don't feel guilty for going to a business during business hours. If he was understaffed that was his problem. Then he cancelled his first appointment for our bid. When he finally came out for the bid he was again put out and on the phone to his wife. I asked questions and he had better places to be. He explained the half-priced granite and how everything has to fall into place to be able to go that route. Then I found out about custom options. He charges more for every added detail. I asked why it was advertised that there were 6 color choices and he only gave two. It's like going to McDonalds and not being able to get a big mac. Half Priced Granite has 6 color choices. He never explained it to me. When he left I had even more questions so the next day my husband and I went to the shop. When we entered I could here him yelling at his assistant. Wow...how unprofessional is that. Then I realized he was yelling about a customer. He was telling her he was going to charge for half priced granite bids so he wasn't so inconvenienced. The more he yelled the more I put the puzzle together. He was yelling about me! OMG...how much more unprofessional is this! So I poked my head in the office and said "I'm here!". Oh he wasn't' ashamed or anything. He continued to yell at me and tell me to just deal with it he only offered two colors and that is how it is. He wasn't even professional enough to give any simple, logical explanation. He finally told his assistant to deal with us and maybe we should not be doing business together. He stormed off to lunch with his wife and his assistant helped us. She too was a total B and said "It's Friday and we don't want to be here." Well Miss in this town the people who make enough money to afford granite work out of town and can only take care of business on Fridays. We never did get the final bid from them. In the end we went with Rock Solid Granite who treated us with an enormous amount of respect and appreciation from the moment we walked in the door. Our project cost over $10,000 and is fully custom with custom curves and 6 cm chiseled edges. Not only did we do our U shaped kitchen but 2 desks and the fireplace. We received our bid in 1 day with no upcharges for the custom work. The renderings were sent to us the same day as the final laser measurements and the install happened 2 days later. Anyone who uses the jerk at Rand J are fools who clearly did not shop around. Rock Solid was laughing all the way to the bank with our $10,000 check.

This is a local company who first ordered the granite we had picked (with a refundable deposit), then had us inspect it to make sure it was acceptable, then came to our home and took a template of our counter tops. At this point (later the same day) we were invited to their shop to meet with the actual fabricator who helped us place the templates on the granite slabs to showcase the best features of the granite. The actual fabrication took about 10 days and included a 15 year sealer for the granite. The actual installation occurred about 11 days after the fabrication started and included the removal of the old counter top and all the prep work. Total time for installation was 3 hours. The installers were professional and conscientious and cleaned up after they were done. The company offered to put us in contact with a local plumber to reinstall the plumbing, but we declined as I had installed all the fixtures in the first place (I'm a major DIYer, but not for granite!). The new kitchen counter top also included a free under-counter stainless steel sink. The new counter tops look absolutely fantastic and we are very pleased. We priced granite and quartz counter tops at the local big box stores and found R and J to be about the same price with the advantage of being able to pre-inspect the custom ordered granite slabs as well as being able to work directly (and locally) with the fabricator to get the perfect look. We did not feel like just another big box customer and were pleased with the entire experience and result.
