Warming Trends oversold themselves with regard to there ability to perform more involved jobs. It appears that they have inexperienced help performing jobs which require skilled labor. In addition the aforementioned folks were to a great extent unsupervised. Our job was halted when it became apparent that the workmanship was not what one would expect from a professional outfit. Mistakes included incorrect measurement if the framing recess in fireplace to accept a TV hanger. This after providing written line drawings for the TV hanger. Installation of stone work was no less then armature. Communication was very bad. Contacting Warming Trends was difficult at best, phone calls were either not picked up or messages not returned. E-mail was seemingly ignored. Event texting them was hit and miss. This included missing appointments with county building inspector. Doing business with these folks was an unpleasant experience and would not recommend them for anything that requires any type of workmanship or skilled labor.

When nobody showed, called office about noon and receptionist said he must be "running late." To date nobody has shown up and we haven't received any calls.

It went poorly. We stopped at the store for prices and when we were waited on, the sales person knew nothing about the products and said to stop back or call when someone named Rene ( I thi k that was the name) was there. We came back a day later and another person, maybe Rene was there waiting on customers. The store was busy and under staffed. We waited quite a while, the left. Later I called and got Rene's voice mail and left a message with our phone number and some information about what we wanted. No one ever called us back. A week later I called for a price, I did get Renee, and did not mention the past experience as she seemed hurried. She gave me prices that were significantly higher than other sellers of exactly the same product. We went elsewhere.

The representative showed up on time to do the estimate, but that process was bizarre. He didn't take out a tape measure to get any dimensions, didn't make any notes about what I wanted. He simply said they could do what I wanted. He said they had more gas log options than what their website provided and he would email me links to the manufacturers sites. I immediately emailed the business to confirm what we discussed and so he would have my email address. No reply came until weeks later when I emailed them to find out if the heavy insert scared them off. That wasn't the issue. When I choose an insert that I liked and requested the quote, it took TWO MONTHs to hear from them and that was only after I contacted them again. My instincts told me that if the communication was this poor as they were trying to "sell" me their service, there would likely be a problem communication during the project. Because I was worried about them paying attention to my requests, and my lack of confidence in their masonry ability, I canceled my working relationship with them and started to pursue other businesses.
Description of Work: The Warming Trend was initially the first and only business I contacted for an estimate to convert a woodburning fireplace into a gas fireplace. Work included removing the old woodburning Fabco insert, masonry, and installing gas insert. For the reasons below, I eventually went with a different business.

They didn't win the job.
Description of Work: An estimate to install a Napoleon Fireplace LHD50 was requested. Rene visited my home and gave good input regarding design of fireplace facade and installation. However, the bid that was offered was $1000+ more than other local, comparable bids. When I did not respond to their bid, Warming Trend immediately reduced the price by $1000 (in 2 weeks time) without any prompt from me. It was a bizarre and clearly an unprofessional attempt to pocket excess money from the start. I guess they were hoping that I wasn't informed, knowledgeable or soliciting other bids.

Description of Work: Their hours are M-F 8-5 Sat 10-?? Since I work, getting to them was difficult. They tend to leave their "Open" sign on even when they are not; and off when they are. I made a special trip in on a Saturday and they were closed. Finally made it over on a weekday. I thought the sales gal was marginally cooperative. She didn't seem interested at all in my business. Guess she had bigger fish to catch.

We went to the showroom prepared to spend about $12k on a custom built fireplace and insert. They came to the house, measured the space then said "We will speak with our carpenter, stone guy and dry Waller and get you an ALL IN quote". After not hearing anything for a week we called back and we told "We are close", they finally called 3 1/2 months later. In the meantime another local fireplace shop came out, measured, got us a quote, got the job, built a beautiful fireplace and we used if for 2 months before WT called back. Last month I had to use them for a part I needed for my Blaze King stove, same result. They first gave me the wrong part, and then ordered another part, also wrong. I have called them 5 times in 2 weeks, got put on hold twice, and was promised a return call two more times...never once called. I gave up yesterday and bought a brand new stove for this room. So, all in all, they lost $15,000 in business in the last year. I suspect they will be out of business sometime soon if this is the way they operate. Beware if you go with these guys.
