This job went perfectly from the initial inspection through the final clean up and my approval. Richard took the time necessary to answer all my questions and to ensure the system I chose met my requirements without breaking the bank. His attention to detail stood out as he took me through the system when complete. I highly recommend The Trade Source HVAC-R and would gladly use them again.

I called several companies and got several bids that were all over the board. The unit that needed to be installed had already been previously sized so I knew what was needed. Several places tried to up-sell and tell me that it was OK to have a larger unit. Richard, the owner of The Trade Source understood the sizing and nailed the tonnage needed so i knew he was legitimate. He provided me with a detailed and very reasonable bid. We kept in touch and he worked with my busy schedule to find a good time for the install. His customer service was off the charts. I have had a lot of subcontractors over the last year and I must say that Richard was a pleasure to work with, a very polite person. The install went without any problems and they left the house as clean as when they arrived. I would recommend getting a bid from Richard, I don't think you will be disappointed. I know my wife and I are very happy with the goods and services provided. Check out his BBB rating.

Description of Work: They made a measurement mistake for an awning and then when we called them on it, the owner and his wife were both rude and used some not so nice language for supposedly being Christians, so they claimed. I told them they would not be coming back. I had to hire a professional awning person to fix their mistakes which cost us more money, but was done correctly finally. The new professional company said he felt sorry for us due to this happening a lot now a days to unsuspecting consumers. I learned a valuable lesson to check Angie's list first next time I need a professional company and not to go by the lowest bid just to get the job.

I was under contract to purchase a foreclosed home from a bank. During the inspection it was determined that the furnace had been dismantled and lay in pieces. I asked a friend for a referral and a tech came out to take a look. He took one look and said I needed a whole new furnace and it would cost several thousand dollars. The next day, I went online and found an ad on Craigslist for The Trade Source. They were offering free no obligation quotes. The tech came out the same day and inspected the furnace. He took a look at everything and said he could put it all back together which he did in less than 20 minutes. He then cleaned it out and made sure it was working. We had no problems passing the inspections and appraisal before we closed. After closing, we had them come back out to do a thorough inspection and cleaning. I have referred them to numerous people and they always do a great job at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: The tech put a gas furnace back together that was dismantled by the previous owner.

Amazing they were respectful clean and quick love the work will be recommending them to everyone!
Description of Work: They gave me a great deal on a full install including a/c, heater, and coil. The other places I called wanted double or more they did a wonderful job I didn't even think a heater and coil could look that good it's nice because I've never had a door over the inside unit and was always an eye sore but when Richard was done I was so surprised that they could look that good I decided no door was needed anymore Thank you guys ALL A'S FROM US!

Owner quoted price of $150 for blower motor and $240 for 4 hours labor for installation - $390 total. Owner ordered ordered blower motor, but did not check if it had arrived until I called a week later. It supposedly had arrived. Employee sent to pick up part had been told it was BLOWER MOTOR. Parts supplier gave him Condenser Motor; he installed it without checking with owner; I had waited all day, he showed up at 6 pm. It took him ONE HOUR to install. When I told him it was BLOWER MOTOR, he checked with owner, learned he had incorrectly removed a working part, and installed new one. He said owner would order BLOWER MOTOR again, and have it shipped overnight. Employee came following day - Saturday - and installed blower motor. It took ONE HOUR. When I refused to pay $240 for 4 hours work ($60 per hour), as it had only taken one hour, owner became angry (on phone), and abusive. He said he was not changing the price, as there were now two new motors - remember there was nothing wrong with the condenser motor - and that I owed for the blower motor and labor, plus $75 for overnight freight, and $32 for a capacitor (this was the first I had hear of this charge). The parts supplier should have paid shipping, as tit was their error in ordering wrong part. The TRADE SOURCE employee did not check with owner when he was given wrong part, and installed it. This was not MY error and I should only have to pay for ONE HOUR labor for installation, not 4 hours of labor. The employee felt I should pay extra since he had to return on Saturday to install the correct part - remember it was HIS mistake. The owner, angry, shouting and verbally abusive, said he would com and remove both motors and I could pay to have someone else fix the AC. The owner was trying to overcharge me for labor ($240 vs $60 actual labor). He was trying to make me pay air freight ($75) for the parts supplier's mistake, and pay labor for his employee's mistake. I paid $300, instead of the $390. I will NEVER use this company again.
Description of Work: Incorrectly removed working condenser motor in AC & installed new one. Following day replaced broken blower motor in AC.

NOT WELL. Price quoted was $150 for blower motor, and $240 for 4 hours labor, for total of $390. Overcharged on labor ($60 per hour) by 3 hours. Owner ordered broken part, but did not check if it had arrived, until I called a week later. It supposedly had arrived. He sent the installer to pick up the BLOWER MOTOR next day - I had waited all day for him to arrive, at 6 PM. The supplier had ordered a condenser motor and gave it to the installer. Even though he had been told it was a broken blower motor, he installed the condenser motor. When I told him it was the BLOWER MOTOR, NOT Condenser motor, he checked with owner, who said he would once again order a blower motor and have it sent overnight. The following day, the installer arrived and had it installed in ONE HOUR. When I refused to pay $390 -($240 for 4 hours labor was quoted)- the owner became angry (on the phone) and abusive. He told me he was not changing the price as now there were two motors -remember, there was nothing wrong with the condenser motor - and that I owed for the blower motor and labor, plus $75 for overnight freight, and $32 for a capacitor (this was the first time I had hear this charge). The parts suppliert should have paid air freight, as it was their error in ordering the wrong part. The Trade Source employee did not check, and removed a WORKING condenser motor and installed a new one. This was not my error and I should not have to pay for it. It took one hour to install. Installation of the blower motor took ONE HOUR. I should not have to pay $60 an hour x 4 hours for ONE HOUR'S work. The Trade Source owner was angry, shouting, verbally abusive, rude when I refused to pay the overcharged labor costs. He said he would come and remove both motors, and I could pay to have someone else install them. I paid $300 (instead of $390), and will NEVER use this company again.
Description of Work: Repaired AC. Was supposed to replace blower motor, instead removed working condenser motor & installed new one, in error. Following day, installed blower motor.

Response from The Trade Source HVAC-R
This was a very unfortunate situation. We are very sorry that the events played out the way they did. I want to clarify a couple of issues that were not covered in this review. The home owner had called us after we were referred by a customer we have been servicing for well over a year. We encourage referrals. We know that word of mouth is the best kind of advertising there is. So when we receive a referral we go out of our way to accommodate those customers, as we always have. The home owner had had a couple quotes for this job prior to calling us. She explained that the cheapest bid was given by a very well known company in the area and that bids was still very high ( over $700.00 ). This company was also the company that diagnosed the original issue. She was given what THEY said was the model number and serial of the unit in question. Normally, we would never go on the diagnostics of another company. In this case we should have followed our normal protocol. The information that we were given was wrong from the beginning. This was found out later in time after we already ordered the part and had it shipped to our supplier. The original price quoted was 390.00. That is accurate. It was never broken down into an hourly rate plus the part cost. That is inaccurate. We have a set rate to replace certain items. What was not expressed here is that the unit was on a roof-top package furnace/AC. These are rare to find in residential applications and can not only be dangerous but also at time very difficult to service. So for units of this type we have a set rate. That set rate is $240.00. There are times when motor replacements can go very smoothly and there are times when they can become very labor intensive. So we have that set rate to protect us. We NEVER go over that set quote no matter how many hours it takes to repair them. The home owner obviously didn't care to listen to this and assumed that we were charging our normal hourly rate. Had it been a typical AC on the ground this whole service would have been much less. We hope that customers understand that we except all liability for our technicians. There are times like this when they must be on roofs two stories high, working on a unit that is 440v, and a very large unit with very large components. That we are putting our technicians in harms way and must except the fact that unfortunate things happen. Although, we follow all necessary safety measures things happen and for this we take on a much larger liability in situations like this. So, we feel for all the dangers of a service like this that charging a base rate is to be expected. The rate that charged was and is still one of the lowest in the region. I know this because I used to work for two of the largest, most established companies in this region. Our pricing is literally 1/4 of the norm in this area. So there is this rate $240 plus the motor cost. The motor cost was $118 dollars plus the capacitor which is absolutely necessary to replace at the same time the motor is replaced. This part is $32. The total being $150 for the motor and capacitor. All three together comes to $390 which is what was originally quoted. So, as you can see the home owner was not correct when she said we charge her for shipping. We covered the shipping completely. Where this whole transaction went wrong was when the home owner refused to have my technician come out and verify that the model numbers and serial given to her by the last company were accurate. We NEVER go on somebody else's information. Not because we feel that they aren't competent enough to do their jobs, but because everyone makes mistakes. We offered to come out and verify the information for free but she refused. So against my normal protocol we went ahead and ordered the part.....or attempted to. When I called our supplier to order the part they told me that the part number I had was for the condenser fan NOT the blower motor which is what needed (?) to be replaced. So I called her to verify the numbers and she got irritated with me at this time and acted as if I was ignorant because I couldn't write a number down correctly. Even though the number I had and the number she was given was the same. I was just trying to verify that we were ordering the right part. She basically told me that if I couldn't figure it out that she would go somewhere else. At that time, when she started becoming rude to me I should have declined the job, but since her grandson is someone that we do a lot of work for I didn't want to upset him or her. I ordered the part that was given to us. When the part came in about 5 days later I called her and left a message that it was in. This was on a Wednesday. She called me rather rudely on that Friday and questioned if the part had come in. I told her it had and I would send my technician out after hours to put it in for her BEFORE the weekend. This was a favor to her considering my technician had already had a full day planned out. Because she was a referral customer we decided to go out after hours for no extra cost and install the part for her. My technician arrived around 430pm. It took him, and another technician an hour and a half to set-up and break down the unit to get to the part they had to remove. This put the time at around 530pm on a Friday. My supplier closes at 5pm. Once we figured out that the part that was shipped was the right part for the unit but, wasn't what was supposed to be replaced due to the fact we were given the wrong part number from the beginning. My technician called me, told me that there had been a mistake but that it worked out in the end because the motor on the AC was bad as well. So I told him to replace the motor we ordered with the new one since it was bad anyway and I would call the supplier after hours and get them to order the other motor as well just so we could get the whole unit up and running for her. What the home owner doesn't understand is that we are charged $50 for after hours orders. Plus, the fact that we had them literally drive the other motor up here from twin falls just to make sure it was here in the morning for her. That cost me the price of the motor at $98 plus $75 for the overnight shipping. This brings the total transaction to $613. The original quote was $390. That's a difference of $223. My technician went down to tell the homeowner that there was a mistake with the motors but that I was going have the new motor overnighted and we will come out tomorrow and install that motor as well. She blew a gasket and started giving my technician an ear full about how we couldn't complete even a simple task like ordering the right motor. We didn't tell her it was her fault the wrong motor was ordered because we don't usually feel that we should give that burden to our customers. As you may remember we offered to come verify the information, and I called twice to make sure that was the part and she got rude with me. The part came in as expect we went out to install it as agreed the night before. When we got there she was very rude to my technician. He proceeded to install the new motor and put the unit back together. When he was finished he checked that the unit was running properly now and it was. So he went down to collect the 390.00. Now remember the total cost out of our pocket is now $613. I did not ask for a cent more than what was quoted. She again blew a gasket because my technician was only there for two hours and she shouldn't have to pay the set rate of $240 which she agreed to in the beginning. Although, the next cheapest bid she got from another company was over $700. My technician went outside and called me and told me what she said. I told him the total agreed on was $390. That's what she agreed to, and that's what he is to collect. I told him she is welcome to call me. She calls me about 5 minutes later. When I answered she was very angry and started letting me have it. I tried to explain to her how everything became a mess and that even though I am losing money I will stick to my original quote of $390. She blew up talking about $60/hr. and that he was only there for a little over 2 hrs so i should be $120. I tried to explain to her that is wasn't by the hour it was a set rate and why we have that set rate. She was having none of it and became even more angry. I tried once again to explain that we had replaced both motors because they were both bad and that we covered all shipping ....etc..but she just wouldn't calm down. She kept verbally attacking me and my technician. I told her I didn't have to listen to her aggressiveness and if she didn't calm down and stop being vulgar I would hang up. Have my technician remove both motors and then she could call someone else out since she wasn't happy with us. Of course she didn't want that because she knows what she got, two brand new motors, new capacitors, free shipping and exceptional service. She just didn't want to pay for them, know that no one else would do what we did for her at that price. She continued to be aggressive so I hung up. I gave her a few minutes to calm down then called her back and asked what she felt was fair. She said $120 plus the motor and capacitor at $180. Which came to $300. I said fine just to get my technician out of that mess and away from her. She said she will never use our serviced again. I told her I am very sorry for that and tried to explain how she got two new motors and etc for next to nothing and how at least she has all the bigger items new now and wont have to worry about them for a long while. How we tried to make the bad situation right and so on..... but she wasn't hearing anything I was saying. She ended up paying the $300 but not without giving me and my technician an ear full. I pray that when you read her comments you will consider my response as well. I feel there were mistakes made on both sides of the coin and I wished it had never come to me having to defend myself on here.
