Concrete Pouring and Repair, Decorative Concrete, Hardware & Home Improvement Stores
About us
Mr. Mudd Concrete and Repair excels in redefining the contracting industry in the Treasure Valley of Idaho. We provide exceptional quality of service throughout the entire customer experience, from the moment you call to schedule an appointment all the way to the invoicing the service. Mr. Mudd exists to serve our community - not ourselves.
Our services include concrete repair, concrete new pours and demo, and a brand new stone cap overlay product called Vuba Stone.
Mr. Mudd was an excellent choice to lift and repair our cement walkways. From Lorenzo who we first met with, to the efforts of Kyler (along with Grant, Adam and Julian) that worked tirelessly to make sure the job was completed to our satisfaction. Highly recommend Mr. Mudd!

I had previously hired Mr Mudd to jack a patio slab to bring it back to grade. They explained that it doesn't always work, but if it failed they would credit half of the cost toward replacing the slab. That turned out to be the case, a result that I understood and accepted. When it came time to replace the slab, they were slow to respond - they did send a crew to remove the old slab, but it took quite some time for the forming crew to show up, and several more days before the new slab was poured. The finish crew told me someone would be by the next day to strip the forms and clean up the work site. That did not happen, and I wound up stripping the forms and cleaning up the site myself so that I could move foward with additional work. The explanation was that bad weather had put them very much behind schedule - a reasonable explanation, IMHO. However, that was not communicated to me until I went to their offices and asked. The work they did was excellent, but the timing and the communication were lacking. I would hire them again, but I hope the communication problems are being addressed.
Description of Work: Replacement of a small concrete patio slab.

They did everything professionally and right on time. They even came back to cut the drain line to help fix the problem, since we had water sitting under the spa. They were right on time and they stamped the sidewalk areas for free. They also have a guy who can recharge the HVAC system, for no additional charge.
Description of Work: I had them do sidewalk, driveway and a pad for the spa and a pathway the spa too.

While we feel that they did a good job - arrived promptly, did their assigned work, and cleaned up after themselves - our only complaint is contacting the company. We would have to call, leave messages and wait for a response. The removing and replacing of our two concrete patio pads took three days. The first day, the old pads were cracked up and removed; installed the framing and the road mix, the second day, the concrete was poured. The third morning, the pad expansion joints were cut. We have been told to keep our patio furniture off for another three days.

We contracted Mr Mudd to pour our backyard patio. We were told it would take 3 days. The job was not finished for 7 weeks. The patio was to be colored and stamped. On the right side of the patio they could not get the color to hold. Over and over again the crew tramped through our yard killing our grass. The stamping job was EXTREMELY irregular, there were CROOKED saw cuts and they did not do the drainage properly so water pools up in several areas. The owner is Brian Wheeler and is a liar and a cheat. He came to the job site several times explaining that some of his labor was recently released from jail on drug charges and told me, and quot;I give these people a chance and this is the work I get.and quot; I filed a complaint with the BBB and in his response to my complaint lied and said that the reason the job took so long is that I kept changing the color. I NEVER changed the color. In addition, now that the snow has melted, we have lots of cracked concrete by our fence. I am sure that it has been cracking apart for months by the length and size of the cracks. Mr. Mudd is refusing to repair it, saying that he only warranties his work for 1 year. It has been a year and 2 months. We did not see the cracks because of the amount of snow this year. This area is usually under about 3 inches of water when it rains. It is clearly apparent that it was not graded properly. We are filing additional complaints with The Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses and than filing a court action against him.
Description of Work: His company poured a backyard patio.

iThe bidding process was great, very professional and reasonable. Then we visited the showroom which was really helpful to see the color options - we ended up changing our color because of it. But then the work started - the destruction crew did come on time the first day. But they had been given no info on what to do or how the new concrete would be laid (it was curvy) and we were told the owner would be coming to verify everything - we never saw him until months later when the first crack appeared. Luckily we were able to be here to guide each step (details about the removal, sprinklers, gutters, shape, etc) or it would have been a mess. Still I had read other reviews where the owners were gone and the work was completed just fine in their absence - not here. The various teams kept showing up with no real person who seemed in charge and I regularly didn't get precise timelines (the initial bid and team said it would be ready 5 days later for our BBQ - didn't happen), but I didn't know who to call. The office person could never answer a question and only called other people to try to get answers. Well the final finishing work (sealing) took forever and was a mess. They have since fired the person who was their finisher and hired a better worker but our experience was still that nothing could be done without the approval of someone else, putting us always in a position of and quot;waitingand quot;. The final sealing took days and it blistered, looking awful. They kept sending us people to fix it and it never helped. One month later, a HUGE crack appeared. So disappointed. They sent someone (took weeks of course because they were slammed) several times to fill it, and it only discolored the area. Finally we got it filled and rested it for the winter but in the spring 3 more cracks! Weeks after our call we got the owner out and he said he would return with the finisher, but only sent his worker who again had not been told exactly what to do so we sent him away. Weeks later they returned and tried to make it right (finally!) by offering to replace that section or fill the cracks again. We chose the later and even though the final seal showed lots of and quot;rice krispieingand quot; again, we have chosen to let it rest. What an exhausting experience. Overalll we love the shape and color but will need to work h****** our own to perfect the sealing process. Final bummer piece is that the guys who laid the concrete promised they would let me know when my kids could print their hands in it (I asked twice!) and by the time they called us out it was too late - the handprints didn't show up b/c the conrete was too hard).

They did a great job of laying our the new patio, framing and preparing for the concrete. When they started stamping, they waited too long and the concrete started to set up, so they actually and quot;poundedand quot; the pattern in with a hammer and side of a trowel in some areas. The patio needed to be sealed, but other jobs started to take priority. (You know how small contractors take all jobs and respond to the loudest customer). Meanwhile, our patio furniture was piled on the lawn so we couldn't put things away. I finally tracked Brian down at another job and he gave me a pail of sealer to do myself. The color started to spot the next spring. Brian sent a guy who colored and sealed the patio, but the color never took. The patio is spotted but OK because of the (fan) pattern. I seal it myself now, but use a somewhat different approach as recommended by the supplier .... actually the one Brian used. I think the date above is accurate.

A great experience from the beginning. Byron was out to give me a bid on the work within a day of my initial call. He looked over the job, and gave me a bid within 15 minutes. He also suggested a air conditioner man to come, disconnect the conditioner so that a pad for the conditioner could also be poured. After telling her about my bid, my neighbor called for a bid and also had her patio extended. Bryon called the week before saying the crew would be there by 7:30 on Tuesday. They were right on time and started right to work. This was the demo and prep crew. They had the job ready to pour by the end of the day - faster then Bryon had indicated. Thursday, the concrete was poured also on a timely basis. Friday the forms were gone and Saturday the air conditioner was reattached and serviced. They left our patios clean and are exactly as we wanted. Great company to work with.
