+ -1 moreLandscaping in front yard is excellent. Work on back yard seemed poorly planned, with minimal instructions on long-term care of trees and plants. Also the plan for planted hillside was destined to fail. The neighbors couldn't even tell that it was landscaped after it was done. Weeds are taking over, as they left bare dirt and no water supply to keep grass alive. Employees didn't show up to work, and they seemed to still push ahead to get the job done by doing minimal work on the planting. We didn't receive an itemized bill that stated the cost of materials or plants. For the price we paid, we expected a fully designed and finished project, not just plants and irrigation.

+ 1 moreMichael provided a detailed and fair estimate after carefully listening to my ideas to re-landscape my back yard with the goal of conserving water, reducing lawn area, incorporate more xeric plants, increase back yard privacy, and provide a wildlife-friendly habitat. He was willing to work on this project in two phases, performing phase one at a time and cost that fit with my schedule and budget. He provided practical and worthwhile advice based on the vision/goals I communicated. No 'over-sell' - he listened to what I said I wanted and came up with a plan to meet my budget. His final invoice matched the estimate; no surprises or hidden costs; he communicated all aspects of the job clearly. The entire job was completed within a four day timeframe, even with a bit of bad weather to deal with. Michael and his crew are a hard-working, efficient group of guys. I was delighted that I didn't have to kennel my two dogs elsewhere while the work was in progress; Michael made sure they were let out back a couple of times during the day. I'm very pleased with the results and look forward to seeing phase two of the back yard renovation completed next spring. With the changes in my yard I also look forward to spending about half the time maintaining it, leaving more time to sit on the deck and watch birds. I have already recommended Michael's services to a couple of people at work. A final note: if you are considering using Michael's company, make an appointment early in the year because his company is popular.

Description of Work: We hired Michael and his crew (Adrian, Justin & Mike) to upgrade our patio to pavers, make our flower beds larger, and, as it turned out, a basic back yard make over. They removed our old patio slab (which was up to 10" thick in places!) Removed all old concrete curbing, made the beds about 18" wider and replaced the curbing with nice ledger stone in a color that tied in well with the new Urbana paver patio, which seems almost twice the size of the original. They relocated some plantings that we wanted to keep and added appropriate sun/shade plantings in the rest of the area, and put down nice bark in the new beds. They modified the sprinkler system to a drip system for all the new stuff, replaced/added sod as necessary, and moved/adjusted sprinkler heads as necessary. Michael even added a small flagstone walkway to the back door of the garage across the flower bed to ease the lawn mower storage.

They were punctual, friendly,and they actually listened to our wants and needs and the end result was beyond expectation. In addition they were within budget which is rare with a lot of contractors we've dealt with. We highly recommend Habiscapes.
Description of Work: Complete landscape and irrigation remodel which included removing our old turf and concrete curbing, designing and installing a new irrigation system with drip for our planter beds and vegetable garden, as well as designing new planters and borders.

+ -1 more.Michael and his great crew removed a small cement patio and replaced it with a much larger flagstone work of art. He drew the landscaping plan, saving an architect's fee, and worked with me to pick out the stone and a large granite fountain, coming out on a weekend to meet my schedule. He created a berm from the grassy area that was removed and with the fountain and some well placed bird and hummingbird feeders we are now attracting many more birds who come to drink and bathe in the water. On the last day of the project Michael and his crew joined us in some beverages on our new patio and we were so grateful to have had such friendly, professional group of people work on our yard. They were also wonderful with our dog who thought they had become part of our family. I highly recommend Michael and would absolutely use his services again. He is 5 stars in our book.
Description of Work: Removed a small cement patio, replaced with flagstone patio three times as large. The stones were placed as if they were pieces of a puzzle and it took Micheal and his crew several days to get the patio looking perfect. Also installed a large granite fountain set in a basin filled with river rock.

Description of Work: We needed ideas to blend our veggie garden in with the rest of our backyard, and we also wanted some rose bushes pulled and new plantings in our front yard. Michael listened to the few ideas I did have, and then came up with great ones of his own. We love how everything turned out, and have already gotten several compliments. Our budget was $3000 and he was able to do everything we needed within budget. Both he and his crew were very friendly and informative. I look forward to working with them again on future projects.

Description of Work: Hired Habiscapes to do the front house landscaping. Price and plant selection were what we had agreed upon and the work proceeded. The day the work commenced, the landscaping rock arrived, was dumped in front of my house and it was clear it was the wrong size. Instead of sending the rock back, Michael from Habiscapes and I decided to go ahead and put it in and see what it would look like. When I arrived home that evening, I knew immediately that the rock was too large and looked awful. I proceeded to call Michael and expressed my dissatisfaction with the rock. I requested that it be replaced with the size rock that I had originally ordered. Michael's response was to tell me that he wouldn't do it unless I was willing to pay to have the rock removed and then replaced with what I had originally ordered. I told him that as the landscaper that he was responsible for making things right. He felt no obligation to do so. After much animated discussion over the phone (which was totally unnecessary) he threatened to put liens on all of my contractors unless I paid him. We finally came to an agreement that he would replace the rock with what I had originally ordered without any extra cost to me. I found Michael to be very unprofessional and he took no responsibility for making sure that the product that was delivered was correct.We all have bad days but after a year of doing renovations on my home and working with over 12 subcontractors, I have never worked with anyone who was more difficult. I would never work with him again nor recommend anyone hire him to do their landscaping.

+ 0 moreHad Habiscapes out to the home for an estimate to extend our patio. He was very up front with his opinion and costs involved. While we found that that type of project was more than we wanted to get into, we did discuss my garden and what I would like to do. He suggested that we edge our beds with a sandstone-like edging. The bid came in very affordable. They came to my office to bring me samples twice (once with a product that had just become available, which I thought was nice). They came to the home when they said they would (in driving rain that day, to boot), and had all my beds edged front and back in a day. After they left, it was like they had never been there. They were clean and respectful and they did exactly what I paid them to do, which is a nice thing these days. Would absolutely use them again and will be calling soon for more work.

+ 3 moreWe moved from the "wet" Pacific NW to the Boise foothills which proved to be a foreign landscape to us. We saw the beautiful landscaping Michael did for a neighbor and hired him. Michael did not disappoint as he is extremely knowledgeable. Throughout our landscape install he consulted with us to insure we were happy with placement of trees and shrubs, as the purpose of some were to create privacy. Michael is a wealth of information, clearly loves what he does and was a pleasure to work with; he also made every effort to stay within our budget. He and his crew were punctual with regard to their daily schedule, professional, courteous and extremely hardworking. At the end of each day the site was left clean and immaculate. The landscaping job was completed a half day ahead of schedule. Michael encourages contact if any questions or issues should arise after completion of the job. We would hire him again for any supplemental landscaping.
Description of Work: We moved into our new construction home December 2010 which had been minimally landscaped by the builder. Michael replaced bark in the planting beds and on two large slopes with lava rock, transplanted existing shrubs to more appropriate locations; and supplemented the landscaping with native/xeric trees, shrubs, grasses, perennials and boulders. He also installed ledgestone on a planter bed and around trees, and metal edging on two property boundaries. A major modification he created at our request was a new berm along the back of the property that was planted with trees, grasses and perennials. In addition, sprinklers were modified to accommodate the new berm area and drips installed to all replanted and new plantings around the property. Michael also repaired areas of the irrigation system that had been previously damaged and reset our sprinkler times to a more efficient cycle.

We basically needed re-do everything. We found Habiscapes on Angie's List and gave him a call. Michael responded to our inquiry immediately and within a few days he came to our home, and within a few more days put together a custom plan for us that suited our budget and our needs. Michael was always on time, communicated very effectively, and performed the work exactly as we expected with passion and professionalism. Don't bother looking further - Michael is the man!

Their work surpassed our expectations and we are extremely happy with all they did. It was a large job and found their pricing to be mark on with others of their caliber. Description of Work: After Idaho Northern and Pacific Railroad decided to clear cut their right of way behind our property, we had to swing into action immediately to provide some habitat for the birds. We called Michael, and he was absolutely wonderful! He gave us an estimate, stayed within the budget and gave us a beautiful yard! He went beyond what we originally asked and even perked up the front yard. He and his crew worked diligently and quickly, and we have a beautiful place for the birds and for us!

When they ran into problems with hooking the new sprinklers into my ancient existing sprinkler system, they came out on Saturday to retrofit my old system and didn't charge me for anything but parts. Everyone was very professional and friendly. I plan to use Habiscapes again in the future.
Description of Work: Habiscapes removed a dead hedgerow and approx 4000 sq ft of established weeds. They installed 4000 sq ft of drought-resistant turf, created planting beds around the perimeter of the yard, installed sprinkler and drip zones, and installed 3 bushes, 6 junipers, a red oak, and a pear tree. They created a beautiful butterfly garden in the front yard. They moved a volunteer tree from a hedgerow to another location.

+ 3 moreDiscussed what I wanted with Michael; he asked for and accepted my input. He was able to do the work with a basic drawing he provided which saved money. The work was done over a period of 3 days - no mess was left when they quit for the day. A neighbor wanted to have the area next to his driveway done and Michael combined the 2 jobs which saved us both money. I absolutely love the end result and so do all my neighbors. I am working with Habiscapes to redo my backyard which will be done in stages since it's much bigger than the front yard.
Description of Work: In my small front yard - removed sod and replaced with stacked rock wall, pathway, ground cover, plants and drip irrigation. Also replaced weedy problem area next to driveway with crushed rock over landscape fabric.

+ 2 moreThe work they did with the flagstone and gravel is just gorgeous! Beforehand my dog was pushing the gravel around in the backyard, and tracking it in. They are awesome to work with and their prices are reasonable. I will always use Michael with Habiscapes for any yard, irrigation or landscaping work.
Description of Work: They cleaned up all of the vegetation in my yard to prep for the winter. They also fixed the flagstone and gravel installed by a previous landscaping company to help make part of my backyard dog-proof.
