Very good - we would definitely use Drake Mechanical again! See above comment for more info!
Description of Work: We had a wall mounted boiler have a pressure sensor go bad - this is a six year old unit that had not been maintained at all by the former home owner (we bought the house in Sept 2012) - we had no hot water, or hydronic heat in first floor of our home (under tile), - we first had to deal with the one and only company the home warranty company sent out (American Home Shield = F - Affordable Drain = F) which was a nightmare to say the least. We called Drake based on their reputation in the community and could not have been more pleased. Our technician (Dillon) was knowledgeable (experienced with these type systems) and communicated with the manufacturer on several occasions to ensure that the job was completed properly. Our tech was responsive to our calls and got our parts in quickly and the major repair done fast, which was great as we were expericing the coldest temps of the season at that time (below zero). Dillon also recognized a few other items that needed to be corrected (slapped together cookie cutter home) and corrected those deficiencies for what we thought was a very fair price. Our system is working great now and we were very pleased with the service we got from Drake.

I was initially put in contact with Affordable Drain Service (ADS) by my home warranty company. The first time they were scheduled to show between 2-4 and when I called at 4, they said someone would be right there and when they arrived they immediately told me they had limited time and would have to leave by 5. When they looked at the toilet it was determined that there was some water damage under the floor so they asked me if they could call someone they work with to analyze that issue. They ended up bringing in a water mitigation team and before I knew it I had crossed over from my home warranty (to fix leaky toilet) to having a claim with my homeowner's insurance (fix water damage) costing me another $550 deductible. The company they brought in to tend to the water damage did not do a thorough job and I later found out that ADS has a kickback program with them, so both of them would further profit by getting me in deeper than was probably necessary. Furthermore, the second day ADS was scheduled to come (after leaving me with a non-functioning toilet for several days and not returning my phone call over the weekend even though they advertise 7 day/week service) they told me they would be there between 12-2. When I called at 2 he said (with no apologies for the inconvenience) that someone would be there between 2-4; and no one showed up at all. When I called to follow up again, there was again no mention of their tardiness/absence; just said he'd send someone right over, which he finally did. The only positive thing I can say about the whole affair is that I did really like the technician, Adam, that was sent to us. The owner, on the other hand, is unprofessional, discurteous, and in my mind, fraudulent with his bait and switch scam with the other companies. I also researched and found out this same scam has occurred to several other clients and that ADS has several complaints filed against it with the BBB, but they are not even members which says something about them as well.
Description of Work: Called in on my home warranty to repair a leaking toilet, drippy bathroom faucet, loose kitchen faucet and leaky wash machine.

I moved into my five year old home and a few days later, noticed a leak under the kitchen sink. The leak was in the cold water supply hose. I called my home warranty, who sent out this company. Mike, the owner, took a look and said the whole faucet apparatus was faulty and would have to be replaced. I was very skeptical that a five year old faucet system (not a cheap model, either) would be rotted out, but having just moved in had my hands full and went with his advice. He said he would be back the next day. In the meantime, I purchased a new faucet and was ready for him the next day. For the two service calls and installing the new fixtures, he charged $326.00. The home warranty refused to pay his fees because I had just purchased the home and they said it was a pre-existing condition. I thought that was what a home warranty was for, but apparently not. The home inspection didn't catch it either. So a huge expense plus the new fixtures. Mike brought two helpers on the second day and I was absolutely appalled at the way he spoke to them. He was a bully and kept shaking his head, rolling his eyes, and barking at them. I felt so badly for them. I would never hire this guy again. He charged way too much and the way he verbally abused his employees was just awful. Bad news!

Mike (the owner, I believe) came out as part of our home warranty claim. He charged us $60 for a consultation because we went through the warranty service (even though the business offers free consultations normally, according to their website), and all he did was come out, make some notes, and leave. We had to call him again to find out if the problem was covered, even though the home warranty people said that he was supposed to call us, and he kept getting our issue mixed up with other clients'. He came to flush the system and put a filter on our cold water; even though the cold water wasn't the problem (it was rust from the hot water) and we were told later by another plumber that this was an unnecessary and unhelpful fix. He said that the flush would get rid of the rust; after two weeks of still having discolored water we called a different plumber for a FREE estimate and a real fix. His work was shoddy, he was unorganized and charged for work that didn't need to be done. If I ever have to use the home warranty people again, I will demand a different contractor. Don't use him.

The owner came in response to a call to our home warranty. The diagnosis was a burnt out sewage ejection pump. He listed the replacement pump as a Zoeller 1.5 hp pump & charged $1075 for the pump. He put in a Little Giant 4/10 horsepower pump listed as $230. He also removed the float from the pump thereby disabling the pump alarm. This business has an F rating from the Boise Better Business Bureau (he's not a member). The phone number at this business is disconnected. I have 2 pieces of paperwork from him that have different addresses and phone numbers. The other phone number 208-867-9700 has a full voicemail box, so you can't contact him. Please don't use him. After we sent a letter outlining all the above and actions we were prepared to take, he refunded the majority of the charges, but we still had to have another plumber fix the situation.
