One day after the moving van unloaded my belongings into my new home, I came to the house ready to move out of my temporary housing only to find three inches of water covering my lower level. A faulty sprinkler valve had poured water for several days into the egress window wells. All the furniture and boxes that had just been moved in were standing in water. It was 5:00 p.m. on a Friday and I knew no one in town. I did the scary thing and picked up the yellow pages. The first two calls went to voicemail, and neither of the companies ever returned the call. On The Spot answered immediately and was at my home within 30 minutes with two workers. They pumped out the window well and got up as much of the standing water as possible. They set up the blowers and dehumidifiers. It took them several hours and they were professional, polite, and kind to me. Neither complained about working on a Friday evening. Over the next few weeks, they got the carpet as dry as possible. They checked in with me often, without me having to hunt them down. They explained what they were doing every step of the way. When it finally dried out, the carpet looked as good as it had before the flood. The padding was obviously shot, but I was hopeful that the carpet could be saved. After pulling the carpet up at several points, it was obvious that the backing of the carpet was destroyed. When the insurance adjuster agreed with their assessment, On The Spot coordinated the replacement with a local carpet store. I can't say enough about the professionalism of the people I dealt with at this company. If I ever have another issue with flood or fire damage, heaven forbid, my first call will be to On The Spot.
Description of Work: They came to the rescue and did a great job!

Although, On the Spot was very prompt in their initial response to remove the water damage and mold, overall, I considered them to be very unprofessional and inconsiderate. And depending on who was doing the work, some was done very well, and some was not. Below is a list of some of the unprofessional situations we had to deal with: 1. We were never given a written, itemized estimate of the work PRIOR to the work beginning, even though it was requested from On the Spot more than once. So, we were left to guess what our payment portion would be. It was finally given to us, long after the work was done. (About 2 months later!) 2. On the Spot consistently and on numerous occasions, would not show up when they said they were going to be at our house, nor would they give us a courtesy call to let us know of the change in schedule. IN EVERY CASE, I had to call them to find out why they hadn’t arrived and when we could expect them again. The inconvenience of having to rearrange our schedules for them became more than a little frustrating. And as a result of the constant rescheduling, it took them a total of six weeks before their final visit to our home. 3. When I was home and they were working, I was regularly having to close doors behind them because they would leave them open when going out to their trucks for supplies, allowing air conditioning out when it was 90+ degrees and letting flies in. It was evident this happened when they worked at our house when I wasn’t there, because dogs were let in, and left in, that weren’t potty trained and left “presents” for me when I got home from work. 4. They damaged the trim in our laundry room and instead of admitting to it and doing the right thing by replacing it; I had to ask them to do so. There were also several candles and chemical items such as carpet cleaners and enzyme cleaners that were damaged due to the extreme heat the air moving machines created. I still have not seen any reimbursement for these items, even though I was told they would do so. 5. They also used our bathroom without flushing on more than one occasion. 6. Many times they would use something of ours and not put it back as it had been. For instance, they used our hose to wash off their paint brushes, which is fine. But instead of rolling it back up neatly as it had been, they left it stretched across our driveway. And we always knew when they had been to our house because they NEVER turned off the lights! Simple courtesy's such as this, make such a huge difference in what kind of company you want working in your home. I could go on, but you get the general idea of the kind of inconsiderate behavior we were putting up with. Probably the most disgusting thing was when they wouldn't flush the toilets. That to me, is totally unacceptable! Bottom line, the laundry room ended up turning out okay and certainly looks better than before. The flooring was done very well in the laundry room, and in the basement, the sheet rock removal was done quickly and they were good about cleaning up their messes. It just would've been nice had they fessed up when they damaged the trimwork, showed up when they said they would, not inconvenienced us for so long, and been more professional and considerate of us and our home by leaving things as they were when they found them. Close doors when going in and out, turning off lights, etc. But because there had been the huge scheduling issue, lack of professionalism and saturation of the carpet ,I will not ever call them again if we have another water damage problem.
Description of Work: Within two weeks we had two different water/mold issues. One being from a slow leak that ran behind our washing machine down the piping and into the flooring and walls. The other from a water hose outside that flooded a basement window well, that in turn, flooded the basement bedroom. For both situations to finally be completed, it took over six (6) weeks! Much of this was due to being put off numerous times because of other "emergency situations" that came up. If this were my company, I would have teams that took care of ONLY the emergency situations and other teams that ONLY worked on completing the restorative work and didn't get pulled away for emergencies. That way the home owners are not inconvenienced any longer than necessary and the work gets completed in a more timely manner. For our situation, it really should have only taken two weeks max, to complete. On the Spot did the initial water and mold removal, and repaired the walls and flooring in our laundry room upstairs. Although they did a fair job in the laundry room, during the process of restoring my laundry room, they also damaged allot of the trim work and ruined allot of chemical items and candles that were stored in the cabinets by not removing them before setting up their air movers to dry out the flooring and walls. (The temperature got upwards of 110 degrees!) I was told I'd be reimbursed for the damaged items, but never was. And instead of them coming to me and admitting they had damaged the trimwork, I had to point it out and ask them to replace it. There is still some that was never repaired. As far as the downstairs basement and bedroom, On the Spot also removed all the water damaged sheet rock with mold on it. (called mold remediation) But when they came back for the final step of cleaning the carpet, removing mold from it, and treating it with something to inhibit further mold growth, they actually ended up making the situation worse by saturating the carpet and not extracting the water properly. As a result, I had to call in another company to do an emergency extraction 2 days later because the carpet was still very wet and causing more mold to grow. As a result of the carpet saturation, the carpet in the bedroom needed to be replaced and On the Spot would not make the situation right. Although we came to an agreement of sorts, we were still not pleased with the settlement and felt we got the bad end of the deal. My understanding is that the purpose of having a restoration company come out, is to be restored to “prior damage condition.” So, when On the Spot saturated our carpet and mold began growing again, causing yet a third problem, and would not make the situation right, it simply did not sit well with my husband and I because our insurance had paid On the Spot several thousands of dollars for a job that was still in need of much repair and attention. On the Spot asked me why we didn't call them back out when the carpet was still wet so they could "make it right". Well, by that time, with all the issues we'd had up to that point, we simply didn't trust them to "make it right". That's why we called in another company.
