A great company to work with---very professional, competent and friendly. I was thoroughly impressed with their work and will defintely use them again. I will say that at one point one of their representatives marred a wall with their ladder during one service call to work on our attic furnace. Upon discovering it I contacted them and was told that they would call me back, but no one ever did. The damage was small enough that we can fix it ourselves and we just decided to let it go, but I was a bit disappointed in their lack of follow-up. Even with that said, their services overall still deserve an A rating in my book.

I was very pleased with their service. They came out within an hour after I called them. I would give them 5 stars for the service. He put little booties on his shoes before he came in the house. It was all excellent. He was courteous and prompt. He waited to make sure it was running correctly. I called them at 8 in the morning and I was at work by 10:15. I was completely over the top satisfied with everything.
Description of Work: I used Western Heating And Air because my air conditioning went out and they repaired it. The hose for the condensation was turned the wrong way. The A/C kept coming on because it couldn’t drain the way it was supposed to.

Called Western Heating and Air at 8:00am to make an appointment. The schedule appointment time ended up only having a two hour window and was from noon to 2:00pm on the same day I called. Same day service on a forecast 90+ degree day and a max two hour wait time was very welcome news. Even better, the tech arrived at the house an hour early and had the problem diagnosed and fixed in short order. Had A/C again before the house really had a chance to heat up. Would not hesitate to either call or recommend Western Heating and Air in the future.
Description of Work: The fan on the outside unit stopped running and the A/C would only pump hot air. The problem ended up being a capacitor the went bad and that caused the fan not to run.

This company is the shining star of what a HVAC company should be. From the 1st phone call, to the sales person and through the installation, everything was the best I have ever had with a HVAC company. Special thanks to Kevin in sales and Jeremy and Miguel, in installation for the best experience ever. When Jeremy and Miguel left, you would never know they had been in the house. Not one shred of evidence or spec of dust left behind and the city mechanical inspector had nothing but praise for their work. Thank you.

Excellent. I'll use them for my rental house as well.
Description of Work: On the weekend, my air conditioner stopped blowing cool air into the house. I called at 8 a.m. Monday morning...and by 9:20 a.m. the A/C was fixed. I was stunned. Last year, when I had a similar problem, I tried two other companies. One couldn't fix the problem, and the other took 2 weeks to fix it. Western's technician (Mike) had the replacement part in his truck! It ended up being the same part as replaced last year. My A/C heat pump is a Lennox, which apparently has some "irregular" features, which caused the extreme troubles with the other companies' techs last year.

This furnace model (58MEC080) was not one commonly sold/installed by Western Heating. Our highest priority was a really quiet furnace, and Kevin (Western’s HVAC Consultant) found this model recommended through the Carrier network. (Note: the Carrier web site also lists the decibel levels of its furnace and air conditioner models for comparison.) An added bonus for this model was that a home owner could select different furnace fan speeds using even a standard thermostat. (Upper range [Infiniti] perks for a mid-range [Performance] model). Both benefits have proven themselves out. (I don’t know how quiet the 58MEC is compared to other furnace installations, but it is much quieter than our previous furnace. And, we will use the fan speed modulation to draw up the cooler basement air as summer approaches.) The air conditioner is also quiet enough that it is not an interference to people talking on the patio close to it. (Thanks Kevin.) The techs were spotless (booties and drop cloths---even on the stairs to the basement) and careful in their handling of the old and new equipment as they left and entered the house and backyard. They were straightforward in their work, and answered all of my questions. The full installation experience did have hiccups. The installation was scheduled for 8 a.m. but the techs did not arrive until after 9 a.m. due to office meetings/training. (I called Western Heating at 9 a.m. to find this out.) We had prepaid for everything 3 weeks prior to installation. The work order called for a new line set. However, on site the furnace installation tech made the judgement call to clean out and re-use the existing copper line. When both installations were complete, the techs passed along a bare invoice that still listed the full installation amount as due. The invoice also did not list any detail as to what was being invoiced. (Verbally the techs told me they checked and they knew nothing was owed.) That invoice could never be used as documentation for the furnace and air conditioning units we had had installed, so I requested a revised copy. The larger size of the new air conditioner was a surprise--32” in diameter versus 28”. That knowledge may be helpful to other homeowners who have older home landscaping built around smaller air conditioners.
Description of Work: Western Heating installed both a Carrier Performance Series (2-stage/80,000 BTU) gas furnace and a Carrier Comfort Series (16 SEER/2 ½ ton) gas air conditioner to replace our home’s 19 year old Amana models. We kept our existing thermostat. The new air conditioner was larger than the old AC, but could re-use the existing pad and location. In dismantling the old AC, the AC tech discovered a problem ‘waiting to happen’, as part of the slack in the flexible metal hose surrounding the old AC’s power line had dipped under the landscaping dirt/bark through the years and was corroded. Replacing the furnace required cutting the existing connections (gas, electric, refrigerant, evaporated water, connecting ductwork), hauling the old furnace up the basement stairs, and putting a slimmer new furnace in its place. Next came constructing custom connecting ductwork on the spot, and re-piping/connecting everything. The work required 2 techs about 6 hours from start to finish. The work required a permit, and a Boise city inspector reviewed and passed the system. The furnace heating and air conditioner cooling ‘went live’ perfectly. My thanks to Sam and Chuck.

They came out really quickly, which was great, because we were cold. He was very nice, and he explained what he was doing. I didn't think that he was trying to sell me a maintenance package. He explained it so well that I saw it was a good deal. He talked through the math with me. It was a pleasant experience, and I felt like I could trust him.

Our furnace failed on one of the coldest nights of the year so far. I called Western at 8:00 AM, and despite the fact they were booked for the morning, a service technician was at our door in an hour and a half. He was very professional, and put protective booties on before entering our home. He diagnosed the problem, drove back to the office to get the required parts, and completed the job all within two hours. I called A1 Heating after the fact, and they quoted me a slightly lower price on an igniter ($110 vs. $137) and a much higher one on the controller ($352-$460 vs. $250). If I ever need HVAC service in the future, I will use Western again.

Overall, I am very pleased with all aspects of the responsiveness and services provided.
Description of Work: My initial email was very promptly returned with a phone call. My' very old and not well maintained by previous owners' air conditioning unit was checked and repaired. Everything was explained to me in detail and with patience. When that was completed, I brought up my furnace. An appointment was made to check that out and explain the concept of an annual filter vs. the more common (to me) quarterly replacement filter. I decided to go with that - hope it works out! So far, so good. My furnace had to be 'retro-fitted' (my word) to fit the larger filter. The work that was done to accommodate it was painstaking, thorough, and exquisitely well-done, to all outwards appearances. I was impressed by the willingness of ANY workman to take the time to do a difficult job by actually taking the time needed to do it well. I signed up for the 'Blue Ribbon' service, which is a seasonal check-up for my systems; this gives me a feeling of security that any problems will be taken care of before they become big, expensive problems.

I woke up on one of the coldest mornings of the year and discovered my furnace had gone out in the night. I took precautionary measures to make sure my pipes didn't freeze and then waited until normal business hours to call. (This was to avoid any possible overtime surcharge.) Since HVAC systems often fail in extreme conditions, there were quite a few service calls ahead of mine. My call was handled professionally, I was kept apprised of the schedule and updated as needed, the technician arrived on time and did such a good job that I signed up for a maintenance contract. It is worth noting that there is a substantial markup on parts when you rely on service technicians to replace them, so it's best to do some things yourself, such as replace filters and purchase parts like igniters that need periodic replacement. I have since had periodic maintenance of my air conditioning system. I found Western's technicians to be very competent with a high degree of professionalism and a fine orientation towards customer service. Prices seem competitive.

I called Chance at Western Heating and he was able to facilitate getting my tenants squeezed into an already packed schedule before the end of the day. The Western office staff handled keeping both myself and my tenant up-to-date on time expectation's and also kept me informed of cost expectations so that there were no surprises. Ultimately, my tenant's heat was restored within several hours of my call, a faulty part replaced and we have not had any problems since that time.

They are always professional and I firmly believe that this annual service has prolonged the life of our equipment. We have had circumstances where we had to use emergency services and they more than delivered. What a great company and I highly recommend!!
Description of Work: We have used Western Heating and Air Conditioning for annual HVAC service for at least 10 years. They have an annual service contract called Blue Ribbon Service that you can buy where they check your AC and heater on an annual basis. It also provides discounted rates if they have to provide services, and you can avoid elevated weekend/emergency hourly rates. The last time we used them was June, 2008.
