We decided to go with Western to install a new water heater and HVAC system at our home. Our old system was approximately 20 years old and in need of a replacement as cooling our upstairs was getting to be difficult in the summer. Our water heater was definitely giving out as well which is what drove our desire to replace everything. For price and quality of equipment, Western was the best out of all the quotes we received. I did have a couple of issues with the installation which is why I only gave them a B rating overall. First, we do not have attic access in our garage and I didn't want the new PVC pipe from the furnace to come out of the side of the house. Our salesman indicated they could install attic access and run the PVC through the top of the roof which is what we agreed to. It was also a factor for us in choosing Western because they were the only ones to offer this kind of service. However, I was surprised after they completed installation the first day to see a pipe sticking out of the side of my house and no attic access. The install guy indicated it was a cleaner way of running the pipe and that he confirmed it with the salesman who also agreed to it. After explaining that wasn't what I had agreed to, he said that he could install attic access if I wanted attic access. But there was no point in doing so now that the pipe was already through the side of the house. The salesman was also surprised they did it this way which conflicted with the install guys story. One of them wasn't being honest. Second, the new copper lines coming from the new air conditioner that was installed were merged with the existing lineset running to the house. I would have expected them to at least replace the deteriorating insulation around the copper wire. Unfortunately, they did not and it looks a little shoddy. The water heater and new furnace work great. I haven't tried the new AC yet but I'm hopeful that we will see good results from it as well. Hopefully the existing lineset that I have will be enough to take full advantage of the new AC.

Western was the second company I contacted to assess issues w/ my A/C icing over. First company told me it was a duct/flow issue and I wanted to get a second opinion before forking over for new duct work. The first Western technician came back with the same assessment as the other company (couldn't find any issue w/ actual A/C) and set up a (very quick) appointment for another Western employee to look at my duct work. This gentleman wasn't sold that it was a duct issue (I wasn't either, as I hadn't had that issue the year prior) and made another (very quick) appointment with a highly-experienced tech to take a second look at the A/C. Long story short, my A/C "read" fine, but it actually wasn't. Ended up being particulate issue or something. Bulk of the cost was for fresh refrigerant, not labor. Last tech told me it was a much trickier issue than usual and not surprised first two gentlemen missed it. All techs were timely, efficient, and friendly.

It was the first cold day of the year, so they had a ton of calls, but were able to schedule me in. The provider arrived in the time frame as advertised. The gas valve was stuck closed. I had tried to move that myself and assumed it was open as it wouldn't turn. The tech had a massive pipe wrench which knocked it out no problem. Given the age of the unit, I would have totally bit on a new unit if they told me I needed one. When it does inevitably go out I will call Western.

Our furnace went out in the dead of night during a very cold spell, on a Friday night. The provider that did the initial installation of the furnace did not respond to my phone calls or e-mails over the entire weekend. Western Heating was very responsive and got us up and running until the initial vendor could come over on Monday to replace a warrant part. Thanks for being so responsive and keeping our house warm!

They replaced our water heater on short notice when we were in the process of selling our house. The workers did an excellent, timely job! |The sales people wanted us to buy more than was required by local code. They finally agreed to install only what was required by code. However, since it was less than their usual water heater package, they did not honor our Angie';s list coupon.

They came and diagnosed the problem at no charge. They needed to order a part to repair the furnace. The part came in and they repaired it the day after Thanksgiving.

After getting several different quotes from other HVAC servicers we decided to try this company. They responded very quickly, took care of the problem, and saved us several thousand dollars. Very happy with this experience.

Mike arrived right on time went to the unit and in a few minutes spotted the problem. Replaced the capacitor, and checked the coil and filter. I suggested we test the freon level which we did and found it a little low. Informed me about annual maintenance program and gave me a senior discount. Great service and friendly people.

Just a few days ago, we noticed that one of our AC units was not kicking on. The furnace was gently blowing some tepid air, and we didn't know why the condenser never turned on. Turned out it was a loose connection between the furnace and AC unit. Arlen also determined that in my battery change (yesterday) on our thermostat I failed to secure the housing well. So, two issues but the one main issue was a show-stopper. We're just happy that it was that simple! Arlen was very methodical about checking out the "easy" stuff first working towards the more difficult, and he diagnosed the problem in short order. Our units are only 4 yrs. old, but we will consider getting a service contract when they are a little older. We are very happy. We can sleep in our master bedroom tonight (as opposed to the smaller bed in the guest room + 2 dogs!) and be comfortable. I must also add that I made my appt. online the night before and was certainly not expecting next day service. I received a call at 8 AM offering that morning's service! Not only did it start raining (after many weeks of no precip at all) but he came out around 10 AM after calling in advance as promised. Couldn't be happier. Problem was quickly fixed, and price was reasonable.

They came out and all it needed was a $50 part. I also went with them for a maintenance program. They even took pieces of the furnace outside and washed it down. I got a discount on this. The fellow that came was very neat and clean and they came within a couple hours of my call.

Technician quickly diagnosed problem as needing refrigerant and cleaned system. A/C cooling again.

Everything was excellent. Their salesman came out for a quote on adding AC to my existing central furnace system. He explained the pros & cons, including estimated costs, to add to my existing system & the alternative of replacing my 45 year old furnace with a new high efficiency unit that allowed the addition of AC without major modifications to the existing ductwork. This was a Friday morning & he told me the work could begin on Monday. His written quote arrived in my email within 1 hour & I hired them immediately. The crew arrived 1st thing Monday morning as scheduled, worked all day in the unbearably hot crawlspace beneath my home and had cool air blowing by 8:00 PM. On Tuesday the city inspector found a couple of things to tweak & the crew was right out & completed the job. (Who knew a light & lightswitch were needed beneath my home?) The system works quietly, keeps my home cool and was a good value. I don't need to worry about my old furnace causing me grief in the near future as all is new. I cannot think of a thing they could have done better as they exceeded my every expectation.

Very well. They provided 2nd opinion at no charge. The confirmed the first companies diagnosis. The reason we went with Western over the other was because they guaranteed the A/C could be installed within 2 days and were very friendly during the process. The other company estimated one week for installation. Western's billing process seems a little out of date. A lot of manual calling & providing payment information. Seems like their invoices or online could accept credit card payments, but that's a real minor detail that wasn't a big inconvenience.

My ac stopped working and I needed it fix right away because it was so hot. Western Heating came right out that same day and found out what the problem was and did a great job.

Very good. I asked him some questions about putting a mister on the AC unit and he told me why not to. Doing that to a Mechanical Engineer is no simple task. He REAL KNEW exactly what was going on not just being a copy monkey

My 23 year old system was dying. I called Western to service the compressor on the heat pump. A tech came to my house (26 miles outside town) after hours, and I wasn't home. I called the "sorry we missed you" number, and I was happy to learn that another tech could be out the next day. This was early July. The service tech came to the house, reviewed all of the equipment and replaced a capacitor to get the old thing running. At the end of the $350 service trip, I was advised that the compressor is running at about half of its efficiency, and probably wouldn't make it through the summer. So, I asked him to send a sales guy up. Of course, when he left, the system was working and it was cool in the house. The following week (based on my schedule), a salesman came out, and reviewed the system and my options. There are lots of options. I chose to go with a SEER 15.5 system so I could realize a bit more monthly savings over the SEER 14 model. (SEER 14 is the base to get a tax credit). While replacing the heat pump, I decided to replace the furnace as well. It is 23 years old. Based on fairness reviews on Angie's, I didn't bother getting a second opinion, as my time is precious, and being available for a salesman isn't really in the plan. So, I completed the application and away went my sales guy. I scheduled my install for July 1 (good thing, it was very hot). At 8:30am, I received a call confirming directions and timing. About 10am, two techs showed up with a few boxes and a bunch of water. They proceeded to remove my hanging furnace (yes, it hangs in the laundry room) and old equipment from the yard. The new unit is a bit smaller than the old which made installation look cleaner. The guys did a great job at joining the new air ports to the old ducting. There are some weird airways in my house, but the team put it all together and it works better than before. Now, the air is so cold, I had to move my desk away from the vent. I will call them again... I need to have a vent put into my living room, and I can trust that Western will do the job right and for a fair price.

I realized around 4pm that the AC wasn't working upstairs. The outside unit was missing a cap and the pipe had frozen. I called Western and they told me to leave the fan on, but turn the cool off. The soonest they had an opening was Wednesday (this was Monday, and the hottest day of the year). I called a dozen or so others and none of them could fit me in until Friday, so I called Western back and told them I'd be willing to pay more for emergency service. They said the list was long, but they'd put me down. I figured that at least someone might get out by the next day and we'd only need to sleep downstairs for one night. Well I got a call about 6:45p from Luke, saying he was on his way. He was quick, thorough, and professional. He had our AC back up and running within the hour. Thank you Luke!

The tech was courteous and professional. He immediately identified several areas where we could improve our heating and cooling efficiency. He was not in a hurry and took his time giving our house a thorough evaluation. We will definitely be doing more business with Western Heating and Air!

The serviceman was on time, professional, and completed his inspection of my air conditioning unit very efficiently. He checked my heating unit and filter. He cleaned my compressor and checked the refrigerant levels. I was pleased with the level of knowledge and his work.
