While the actual cleaning went well (minor inconsistencies), our main complaint is The Cleaning Authority’s contract. Please read it carefully! One of the cleaners damaged our quartz countertop (we believe it was from the backpack vacuum that they wear) and not only are they denying that they caused the damage, but per their contract they are not liable for ANY damage caused by their employees. The only thing they MAY do is give you a free cleaning. So, they are basically valuing anything in your home at a maximum of what you pay for a cleaning. I have since called several other larger cleaning companies and all of them cover for the broken objects actual value. So, we are now stuck with a large repair bill due to damage caused by The Cleaning Authority. We do NOT recommend this company. Their customer service is rated a F-.

They did an initial clean, costing less than I imagined, and made this nearly new home sparkle again! The ladies who were here, Yazmin and Kriss, were so professional, and their work was so thorough, that I hope they will come back. They were also quite sweet to my three elderly pooches! The Cleaning Authority had a supervisor come by and check on the Ladies' work, and made contact with me, to see if I had any questions. I am quite impressed with the ladies' work ethic, and the quality of their work! I highly recommend The Cleaning Authority.

The cleaning at first was of good quality. However, it went downhill and the work was shoddy. Sometimes the cleaners would do a good job, but it was variable. I had several shoddy jobs in a row, with streaky appliances, , and they just weren't doing their job. The last straw was when one of the cleaners eyeballed and examined and commented on several things in my house. Of course I don't mind that she liked them, but the way she was doing it felt strange and uncomfortable. After I switched to another company, I got a letter stating that, based on their rates, I shouldn't have high expectations. That really sealed the deal. I don't have high expectations, but I do expect people to do their job. There are other cleaners out there that will do a much better job at the same rate. Not recommended at all.

Overall, it was difficult to enjoy the 'good' parts, since there were damages done to my home. House cleaning for me is a luxury, kind of like a day at the spa. When it doesn't go well, it's really a disappointment. The company was quick to respond and did reimburse me for the kitchen appliance that was damaged. I had to purchase a whole new window blind, since that could not be fixed. I most likely would not use this company again in the future, because I think they are over-booked, and their cleaning staff can't take the time to really clean. They are rushing, and end up breaking and doing the job halfway.
Description of Work: Requested a 3 hour cleaning of my small home. Staff had issues accessing the house (called and said the door was locked, but it wasn't). They were late getting started, thus the quality of the clean suffered since they were in a hurry. It probably would have been better to just re-schedule. Many details missed, kitchen appliance broken (company ended up reimbursing me to pay for item), blinds broken (did not replace, and they sent me info showing that this was an excluded item that would be covered), and while they were dusting, they hit the thermostat and the heat was all the way up and turned on full blast. Again...one of those things that happens when you're in a hurry.

It started out "ok" but then I always seemed to find areas that weren't dusted, i.e. behind the TV, eye-level picture frames, etc. I don't feel that these are "exceptions" and that they should be wiped or dusted with each visit. The changing of all or part of the crew members each visit I believe leads to a lack of consistency in the cleaning and does not foster an ongoing relationship with our pet.
Description of Work: I started using this company in March after being disappointed in the last cleaning "company" that I had chosen. I don't feel that I'm asking for anything out of the ordinary. The way that they work is to clean on a "rotation" basis. So they pick a selection of rooms or section of the house to do detailed cleaning (hand wiping baseboards, knick-knacks, special attention paid to floors, etc). The rest of the home gets "general" cleaning. Then the next time they come, a different group of rooms receives the rotation. My problem with them is that even when a room was supposed to be on detailed rotation, it lacked even general cleaning. For instance, in the master bathroom, the counters get sticky with hair spray and make-up but only part of them were wiped. The areas around the sink were still sticky. Also, I have some glass containers on the counter that hold toiletries but they weren't moved and wiped underneath. The tract to the sliding closet doors would be wiped by one crew, then left dirty and dusty by another, again, on the rotation that was supposed to be detailed cleaning. My biggest issue is that they wouldn't wipe off the top of my refrigerator. Granted, I'm tall and can see the top of it when walking by. They will only clean what they can reach standing on the floor which, even when I asked them to use a long handed swiffer-type duster, they were unable to comply with. I understand them not climbing up on things to reach tall areas, but I'm also at the mercy of them potentially having short people work for them. They indicated that people pay extra to have the top of fridge cleaned and done so only once or twice a year! I removed everything from the top so they simply had to swipe with a long handled duster but they refused. They wouldn't clean the corner of the room where the baseboard and carpet meet because the dog has a bed in that corner and they said she wouldn't move. She is a friendly dog, but timid with people she doesn't know. They just needed to ask her in a friendly voice and she would have responded. Otherwise, just reach behind her and vacuum the area. I don't think that's an excuse for leaving a whole area dirty. When I tried to have conversations with them about improving the general cleaning, making sure all surfaces were wiped or dusted, then responded that they are not perfect and that the job that they perform is adequate based on their company standards.

The first clean was amazing and I loved the staff that came.. but all subsequent cleans went straight downhill.. different staff every week, different level of service, expertise and commitment to their profession.

The cleaning staff were personable, but house was cleaned according to a predetermined system, not according to needs of home. Thus some jobs were performed unnecessarily (folding towels that were already folded?), while others were omitted or not done thoroughly (small mirrors not cleaned). Cleaning services could not be customized to house, in part because different cleaning staff were assigned each time house was cleaned so no one team became familiar with the particular needs of my house. Once, a fishy smell remained after kitchen floor was washed; at that time the cleaning personnel reported that "they had tried to bring the best steam cleaning machine that could be found" amongst the cleaning supplies and equipment, suggesting that the equipment was not well maintained. I was supposed to report schedule changes by email, but my email was repeatedly rejected by their business which interfered with communication with them.

As always, there are 2 perspectives to any situation. . Quality is critical to us. Every clean comes with a 24 hour satisfaction guarantee and we train constantly and surprise inspect our crews daily. This is why we keep over 500 Boise family’s clean and happy. In fact, we just completed our annual recertification class for our professional housecleaning staff. It entailed 4 early morning classes and a 5 page final exam! We are proud to be called the “college of cleaning”. This level of training promotes consistency across our staff. While we strive to send the same cleaners each clean we are not worried about quality should a different cleaner need to fill in while one is out on vacation. When a customer hires us we believe they are hiring our company not a single cleaner. In this case, the only request was to NOT take out the garbage. In addition, after a surprise inspection, inspectors leave “inspection slips” behind to encourage customers to call, email or use the website to provide feedback (3 of this customers 4 cleans were inspected). Typically the feedback is good and we share it with the cleaners at our weekly company meetings and add/post the comments to our “wall of fame”. Also, when a customer calls to stop service, we look at it as an opportunity to learn something. Hence, we ask specifically if their decision had anything to do with our service, staff or quality. In this case, the customer called the day before their clean to say they were terminating because of “financial reasons”. The quote about the crew trying to find the best steam cleaning machine they could find was taken out of context and twisted negatively. Rather, the cleaners, who are committed to solving problems and keeping customers happy had verified that their equipment was in good working order and were merely trying to put the customer at ease and close the loop on the earlier observation/concern. Keeping communication lines open is important to us. The original customer email address provided to us was faulty and after our investigation, a new working email was requested and provided. Should email not work we have a direct office line, a back up call center line and website links to assure redundant methods of communication. All this contact info is explained in detail before service begins. We encourage anyone reading this to give us a try. We perform over 250 cleans every week. We have an A+ rating at the BBB and 5 out of 5 stars on every other website we know of.

We paid a large deposit (about $150) up-front so we didn't have to sign a 1-year contract. In hindsight a contract should have been a warning sign. We arranged for bi-weekly cleaning and had a total of three cleanings before discontinuing the service. Each of the first two weeks something minor was wrong (broken frame, accidentally took one of our cleaning tools). In each case the vendor was good about contacting us and offering to stand behind it though neither case warranted any action (it was a cheap frame). However each and every time we also made sure the importance of locking all doors to the house so our dog couldn't open the doors and come in was stressed. Three out of three times at least one door wasn't locked and so each time by the time we got home the dog was in the house. Attempts to contact the company were exchanges of voicemail messages in most cases as no one was available when work schedules permitted calling. On the last visit there was a problem (our fault) with access to the house and they were good about working with us around the delay while it was worked out. In the end it was easier to forgo the deposit we'd paid than to put more effort into trying to make this situation work.

We find the allegations in this review to be factually inaccurate and misleading. Please bear in mind that we opened in 2003, clean over 250 houses each week, have an A+ BBB rating and have won the Mark of Excellence in house cleaning award 5 years in a row. NO deposit was forgone. They only paid for the 4 cleans received. We offer clients a choice to have an open ended agreement or a discounted price with a year commitment. The vast majority of our clients are on the year agreement. However, they did not all start out that way but switched after several cleans – thus further validating our service. Leaving a house secure is an imperative aspect of our business. It is our policy to enter the front door, not open the door for anyone while cleaning and always lock it behind us (unless explicitly instructed otherwise by the homeowner). After hearing that the dog got in (i.e. doors were unlocked) we made a point to double check the front door, back door and inside garage door (which we often found unlocked/open upon our arrival) before leaving. We would have crews call us before leaving to assure that doors were confirmed locked. It should be noted that the customer’s daughter often came and went from various doors including the garage while the cleaners were cleaning. Our work hours are days, Monday to Friday. Being accessible is important to us. This is why we have an office line, a call center back up line, email addresses and an online account for customers to choose from when providing feedback.

Had cleaning with them for one year. At first did a good job but then as time went on the performance deteriorated. Example: while dusting broke my glass covered clock. I can understand the mistake but what I cannot understand is that they then failed to clean up the broken glass ( a big deal as I have children and a dog which could have been injured). Another example: The power went out while they were cleaning. Rather that giving me an option of a partial refund or scheduling; They simply left an apology letter. When I called them regarding this they offered me a $5.00 off refund (which is a joke as I paid $100 a visit and most of the cleaning involved the flooring) or a time for rescheduling which they made out as being a huge sacrifice on their part. I chose the later and when the team of cleaners came to do my floors they were very put out about how much work they had to do. Anyway, I chose after on year and my contract was over to cancel.

As a company we are disappointed and shocked by this review. Upon review of this account, the stats are summarized as follows: Since signing up in May of 2008, 33 cleans were performed; On 4/21/2009 we were not able to complete the vacuuming or floors due to a power outage at the home, but we sent crews back the next day to complete the work; 11 of the 33 cleans were inspected by a manager and an “Inspector/We Want Your Feedback” form was left behind for your input; 2 satisfaction survey requests were left during the year of service; A clock was accidentally broken but we quickly replaced it; No cleaning quality complaints, inspector form feedback or survey feedback were received during the time with us and the 24-hour satisfaction guarantee was never requested or invoked; and, No specific reason for terminated service was relayed directly to the office. This review comes as a shock to us. Overall not as spotless a record as we would like, but looking at the stats we felt we kept communication lines open and responded to mistakes and inconveniences satisfactorily. Hence, we were surprised to discover this poor review of our service. We tried contacting the client to no avail. We then sent a letter explaining our position along with a “good faith” gift certificate for a free clean. Again, no reply from the client. This office of The Cleaning Authority provides communities with a trustworthy, hard-working, and conscientious cleaning service. We successfully perform over 10,000 cleans annually with a complaint rate less than 00.01% and have won the Mark of Excellence award in house cleaning for the past FIVE years. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and we will be using this rating to review our processes and use it as a teaching topic with our staff.

House cleaners were too young to know how to clean a neglected home. Left spiderwebs and dust on furniture. Damaged wallpaper in historical home and broke mouthpiece off antique telephone - neither incident brought to my attention, and they did not report this to their supervisor. Their representative Lori, is very pleasant when evaluating project; I was very surprised when she did not offer to come and look at damage which had been done, after it was reported to her. Also no offer of refund due to less than expected quality of work and damages done. I would definitely NOT recommend this company. They are very overpriced.

As a company we are saddened by this review and stymied by the clients perception of the work performed. Cleaning homes on a regular weekly or bi-weekly maintenance schedule using our “Detail clean rotation system” makes up the majority of our business. However, we also perform occasional cleans. These include “move-in / move-out cleans”, “trial cleans”, “gift certificate cleans” and “one-time cleans”. For occasional cleans we provide trained cleaners and the required supplies and equipment for a specific length of time that the customer chooses. The cleaners will apply our normal cleaning tasks in the rooms requested as described on our website http://boise.thecleaningauthority.com/DCRSVideo.aspx.. In addition, we confirm in advance if the client would like to include any common “extra’s” to create a customized task list, by priority, for our cleaners. This way, the cleaners can make the most of the time allotted. Our goal is not to clean to “perfection” but rather find the point of diminishing returns in each area and thus complete “the brunt” of the work for the client in the time given. In the event that all the items could not be completed in the allotted time we ask clients if they would like to authorize more time. In this case the facts are as follows: 1. Based on an over the phone description of the home we recommended 4+ hours but only 2 were authorized by the client. 2. To complicate matters the clean was set-up through one person while the reviewer was the one on site. We are not privy to the expectations set between these two parties. 3. The reviewer was present to direct the crews in the allotted 2 hours. When the time allotted was expired NO extra time was authorized. 4. As the client noted the house was old and neglected. a. We do not clean walls unless requested and this was not requested on the work order. We feel this damage was pre-existing and unrelated to our staff. b. The cleaners were experienced and in the event of breakage follow procedure to alert the client, the office and document the issue on their paperwork. None of this transpired and when confronted the crew was in disbelief. We feel the phone mouthpiece issue also has an explanation not related to our staff. c. A refund was not offered because more time was not allowed at the time of the clean. This office of The Cleaning Authority provides Boise with a trustworthy, hard-working, and conscientious cleaning service. We successfully perform hundreds of these “occasional cleans” each year, many of which turn into regular repeat clients! We perform over 10,000 regular service cleans annually with a complaint rate less than 00.01% and have won the Mark of Excellence award in house cleaning for the past FIVE years. Customer satisfaction is very important to us and we have used this review to bolster our “pre-clean expectation setting procedures” for future occasional cleans.
