Description of Work: We had a countertop reolacement priject in the kitchen. Representative arrived to take measurements for a quote, promised to email quote that afternoon. Never heard from him again despite follow up phone calls/messages. I guess our job was too small? A call back would have been appreciated.

Description of Work: Installed granite kitchen counters and sink. They did a first-rate job for the price they said they would and we couldn't be happier with the countertops. We have friends who recently had theirs done by a guy they found on Craigslist and they look like a nightmare, so bad they're thinking of suing him. They should have hired Rock Hard.

We've had two projects done by Rock Hard Granite. The first was installation of granite countertops in our kitchen and the second was installation of granite countertops in two bathrooms. Steve and his employees at Rock Hard Granite were a joy to work with. They do high quality work at a very reasonable price. Great communication with Steve, punctual, and do what they say they are going to do on a project. They really make the projects a fun & exciting process. We had one problem with the second installation where a sink was broken during the install process. Steve immediately arranged a special order for replacement, expedited shipping, and had the replacement installed within two days...all at their expense. No excuses, no hem-hawing around. They stand behind their work and seem to strive to make sure the customer is completely satisfied with the completed job. If we ever need to have granite work done in the future, the only business we'll contact will be Rock Hard Granite.

The tear out was painless--they worked very hard and took their time to keep from damaging walls and mirrors. We have had a lot of work done on our home in the last couple of years and this was by far the best experience we've had. They finished counters in a single day and came back to grout and do back splashes on another day. They were meticulous at every stage. The seams are almost invisible the grout is a perfect match and absolutely everything looks perfect. The installers were lively and fun to have around. Impeccable, start to finish.

We are really really pleased with the quality of their work. Brice and Steve were the installers and they did an absolutely first rate job and seemed to take pride in their work. The seam in front of the sink is invisible ( thanks to Brice), and the fit and finish of the counters is perfect - there are no gaps anywhere, the edges are good, the polish is good, the overhang is consistent, everything is level and the attention they paid to detail is impressive. They actually erected a plastic tent over the work area to contain any dust and cleaned everything up when they were done. Thanks also to one of the owners, another Steve - in this case Steve Heasley, who guided us in this project. His suggestions were spot on and it's obvious that he's been in the business awhile and knows his stuff. He actually rejected a slab of granite that his workers had already begun to cut because he knew the tones were not right and wouldn't look good with our back splash. We don't know if he incurred a loss due to that since he didn't mention it but how many people do you know that exhibit such integrity? We shopped a handful of companies and all of them were within a hundred dollars of each other for their quotes - so in Boise, at least, the pricing is pretty consistent on granite. The difference is in the skill of the workers and the honestly and integrity of the company.

So far so good! We have been working with Anna and she has been an absolute angel to me. We thought we would try to save money by doing the demo ourselves and only made a huge mess. We will have them do the demo next week when they bring the new counters. Anna has kept me informed in each step of the process and go above and beyond my expectations. I will follow up next when I have my new granite!

Straightup-honest, no-nonsense, with one of the best customer service attitudes you will find anywhere, these folks thrive strictly by word-of-mouth recommendations like this one. Steve Heasley (I did not meet his partner, Terrel) offers an excellent quality product, and no granite purveyor in the Boise area can touch them on price. These folks move a lot of granite countertops through their shop (as in over a thousand), so they already have answers and solutions for any questions or problems you may encounter. This is a multi-day process: To start, Steve will stop by to measure surface area one day (yes, he is there when he says he will be), and give you an email estimate the next. If you authorize the work, Steve will schedule a time to come and template your countertops (i.e., make a 2-dimensional plan of the exact size of your countertops, which will take about an hour). In the meantime, before the template date, you select the granite you want, either from the stock they have on hand or from one of the granite showrooms in town. Rock Hard purchases the most popular granites in large lots at a deep discount and keeps them on site. They do pass those bulk-purchase savings on to you and, seriously, this can easily save you $1, 500. You also have to buy an undermount sink and give it to them because they cut your countertop to be an exact fit. We bought a 10-inch deep, heavy-duty 16 gauge stainless steel sink for $299 from Rock Hard that is quiet even with the garbage disposal running. You can look all over town for a better deal and not find it, because we tried to do just that. There are only a few 16 gauge sinks in town and they are much more expensive. Typically, Home Depot & Lowes have thinner 18 and 20 gauge sinks in stock at about the same $300 price point. (I had already removed the old countertops so there was no demo required as part of my estimate, but I would guess that is a routine part of their business.) The template process starts the clock rolling for them and indicates that installation will occur about a week after templating. My wife went to the shop a couple of days before the install date hoping to get a small piece of our granite to use in matching up potential backsplash tiles. Not only did she come back with a 2-lb piece of our granite, she also got to meet and watch the guys who were cutting it. Installation was a 5-man operation that started at 845a when they carried the granite in, but it took just 2 guys to finish the work after the slabs were set in place. The countertops were cleaned up, sealed, shiny and beautiful by 230p when they were done. Almost a month after the countertops were set we are still in awe of the finished product. Steve called and stopped by to check on things perhaps two weeks after installation. He clearly gets a thrill out of making sure he has happy customers. I spent the entire past lunch hour writing this recommendation because I was nearly swindled and hoodwinked by granite warehouses who sell cracked slabs they bought for next to nothing, and by melodramatic fabricators/installers who jack up the price for many reasons including claims they have to repair your cabinets to accommodate the weight of the slabs (i.e., "Oh my, this corner is 1/16th high!!"). The shady guys can also arrange to get a huge kickback from the wholesale granite shops (some as high as 50% or more of the retail granite price) if they choose to not pass their discount on to you. One tried to tell me the process of properly sealing the granite is difficult and costly, as in $600 every two years, when a $34 quart of "511 Impregnator Sealer" spread on and rubbed in every two years (a 15 min. process) will last you a decade. It is not a pretty picture out there. I had one guy who sucked me in and then systematically jacked the price up to $2,000 more than Rock Hard ended up costing me. Steve and his guys are the real deal. We offer our thanks to all of the folks at Rock Hard Granite for an extraordinary product at an excellent price with no granite drama whatsoever.

If you want to redo your kitchen to include granite, but are afraid of the demoliton process or cost, DON'T WAIT! We were told by several folks that removing our old tile would be an impossible task. It was NOT and the cost of demo and removal was INCLUDED in Rock Hard's already very reasonable fabrication cost!! Not only that - but we had a two-tiered counter that had to be de-constructed to all-counter height - they did that demo work too, included!!!! they moved all electrical, they took care of fabrication and installation of our faucet and sink, they did it all. Included. And Bill their tile installer did a wonderful job installing our backsplash. We love our kitchen, we can't thank Rock Hard Granite and Steve enough except to encourage you to contact them if you're interested in granite. Just go talk to Steve over on Main Street - he's usually walking around outside with his dog and you'll see lots of big granite slabs outside to give you ideas!
Description of Work: We visited what seemed like every single retail granite place in the county, and then driving home from those exhausting visits we came upon a little nondescript storefront on Main Street that we had come across on the Internet, Rock Hard Granite. Rock Hard does NOT have a fancy storefront or beauty queen receptionist, but they were by far the most creative, up front, easygoing folks we had come across. We wanted to remodel our large kitchen which included tearing out a LOT of tile countertop. After talking with Steve, we not only realized that it would not be as daunting an endeavor as we had feared for awhile, but we could do it fairly quickly and with a pretty small amount of upset as well. We did find granite in Rock Hard's inventory that we liked very much - they have a good variety. But we decided to look around a bit more - we went to a couple of granite wholesalers specifically looking for just the stone. When you install granite, you need 2 things - Granite, which you select by the Slab, and a Fabricator (which is what Rock Hard Granite's guys specialize in). Some granite wholesalers are also fabricators, but many just recommend fabricators that you hire separately, which we did. We found this was not only cheaper because you cut out the middleman, but it's also smarter because we were working directly with the guys who were cutting our granite to spec for our kitchen countertops. After a lot of visits we went to Francini ( www.francinimarble.com) on Franlin Road in Meridian. They have a HUGE inventory and their prices are great. Because you hire the fabricator separately, wholesale slab prices only include the granite. But if you go to a place like Precision Countertops, their prices include a flat rate for fabrication which is higher by far than Rock Hard's installation pricing. (Fabrication is the cutting and the installation of the stone as well). We found granite we fell in LOVE with at Francini, we worked with Nick who is GREAT and he actually recommended Rock Hard to us for fabrication!! So Steve at Rock Hard bought the granite. He came to our house to create the countertop templates, then we went to his shop to see which part of the slabs each specific countertop piece would be cut from. Fabulous process to see!! Working with Steve and Terrell is like working with buddies you knew from high school. They are very easy going yet incredibly professional. They know their business and the results are breathtaking.

We purchased a house and decided to make quite a few renovations in the two weeks before our move-in date. Hard Rock completed their installation on time and on budget as quoted. Upon delivery one piece of granite had a flaw and they did not hesitate but instead insisted on fixing the issue. Our house was crawling with contractors on the installation date and our hardwood floors were in the final stages of sanding. The guys from Hard Rock were very careful and considerate of everyone in the work area. I would not hesitate recomending them as they did a great job and their prices were very competitive.
Description of Work: Rock Hard Granite installed granite coutertops in my kitchen. The L shaped countertop with a sink was pre-cut at the shop and then installed. Our large island (~5x8) was installed and then the stovetop cut out after installation in the house to avoid possible breakage during the transportation and installation process. They tented off the area during the cutting to avoid spreading granite dust all over the house. I also had them install an under-mount sink.
