R & R Hardwood Floors

This company came out to my house to sand and refinish my floor 2 years ago. He ruined it! We gave him a chance to fix it, so they came out and did it again, and made it even worse! I'm not being dramatic or picky...we had the floor inspected by a neutral party of his choosing and the report came back saying this job was well below industry standards. We are out of pocket several thousand and STILL have to get another company to fix our floors! The owner now refuses to make it right leaving us no choice but to go to court. Beware!

Very well and then I had them do another floor on one of my rentals which also turned out very well. They do need several weeks lead time before starting a job.

Went ok until they were done. There were issues that I couldn't get them to address. Not a very professional business in my opinion. I would suggest not paying them until the job is done satisfactorily

R and R Hardwood Floors did a very nice job in refinishing my floor. Rob and his staff were focused on quality, easy to work with, provided helpful suggestions and were very open to implementing my requests. During the process of providing the bid, Rob took the time to answer my questions and to explain the refinishing process. In particular, he made the effort to explain what elements may turn out to be problematic - as opposed to just "selling" the job. After mulling over the information he provided, I had some questions that I e-mailed him for clarification. Rather than just send a text reply, he took the time to make another trip to my home to look at specific areas and provided the explanations I needed. A Very Important aspect of rating a vendor is the manner of response you receive after the job is underway. R and R's response in this regard was Excellent. A couple of items arose that needed follow-up after the main project was initiated. A small area under a railing and adjoining a stairwell, had some boards that needed replacement. It was a difficult area to reach and during the replacement there was some damage to the wall. Without any quibbling, Rob offered me the choice of letting him have it repaired or to pay for a painter of my preference to fix it. The repair was done and the wall looks just fine. One area in which things could be improved - is to have put in a little extra effort in the clean-up after the job was finished. Adjoining areas were covered up but some debris and dust did slip through. After completion, there were some fixtures that I thought needed to be reinstalled and there was also a small area, that to my eye, needed a little more refinishing. Again, without any hassle, Rob sent over his technicians who fulfilled my request. It is worth noting that they did not tack on any extra charges for these tasks. Overall, I am Very Pleased with the work done and would not hesitate to recommend R and R Hardwood Floors.

I am torn on how to grade them. On the newer house, they refinished the floor for $1k and it looked beautiful and brand new. Easy and professional. On the older house, they refinished the upstairs and the stairs for $3k. This floor was much more damaged. They did not fill a single nail hole on the stairs, used poorly matching puddy on some of the holes upstairs and missed some large gouges I ended up filling the holes on the stairs myself.. I had to call them back two additional times before they appropriately finished the job. I made them reseal after I filled the holes and after the fixed the gouges and poor color matching. They responded to my calls and had no problem coming back, but I should not have to ask them to do the job properly. The floors look beautiful, but the workers required a LOT of supervision and did not seem concerned about the quality. For older, rougher floors, I would definitely recommend reviewing their work before they apply the seal. Bottom line - beautiful work on easy jobs. Beautiful work on tougher jobs only if you supervise, nag and make them come back multiple times.

R&R responded quickly to my call for an estimate of refinishing my worn and splintering hardwood floors. The estimate was reasonable and they began work work a couple of weeks later. Schedule was a little tricky and had to be rescheduled but that actually worked out well for me as I was having some other work done in the house at the same time. They came and sanded three rooms and the hallway on the first day and then sealed the floors on the second. The last day they put the final coat on the floors and they look amazing. I am so happy with the results. They were very careful with dust control and leaving the place clean. They finished on time and did exactly what they promised. I would definitely use them again for hardwood floor work.

They did a really good job. I saw one because this is an investment property so we are not living there. When we did go there it was one guy who was a manager and then one guy who was working and they were both pretty efficient and friendly. They were pretty busy so it took a while to get them out there. They were there when I expected them to be there.

They were prompt and priced below nearest bid price. Came when promised. The finished floor was disappointing; the final coating was speckled with sawdust and particulate matter. Very noticeable when inspecting the floor. I did not want to go through the time consuming and messy process of resanding, applying the toxic-fumed Swedish finish, and additional inconvenience of having the procedure repeated, so we settled for the poor job. ,

I could not have asked for a better experience. Overnight water damage ruined our kitchen maple wood floor. I had the old floor removed to the subfloor and then called Rob's R&R Hardwood because they have an excellent word-of-mouth reputation here locally--just ask around yourself. Since Rob happened to be in the Meridian area when I called his office, he was by to give me an estimate within a couple of hours, exactly when his office said he would be here. There was no fancy sales pitch, no drawn-out conversation. He emailed the estimate to me and I agreed to it via email. Soon after, Rob called to schedule the work for a few days later. From the time I met Rob at the front door to when the work began was about a week. At the scheduled time, a wood floor guy, Gras, arrived. He, too, was busy at work right away. The first order of business was to completely enclose the kitchen area, floor to ceiling, in plastic. This was not done in haste--he knew exactly what he was doing and was very deliberate. I have to say that it was a privilege to then be able to watch Gras work like an artist in building this beautiful kitchen wood floor, picking and choosing each piece of wood for aesthetic reasons that are beyond my comprehension. No kidding. Gras was courteous, neat and clean in every regard, and incredibly hard working. After he applied the first coat of sealant the next morning, my wife and I abandoned the house for the rest of the day and spent the night in a local hotel. At Rob's suggestion I scheduled the final sanding and seal coat for a couple of weeks from now, after the cabinets are reset and the plumber, painter and other workers are not walking on the floor. The work was done on time, the invoice amount was less than the estimate, the quality of the work was superior to any preconceived notions I had about it, and the work was performed by a guy who was meticulous about clean up. If you have them build a floor for you, you will realize that more care and skill will go into that wood floor than anything else you could have done to your home, assuming your home is typical of most homes in this area. I did not know any of these people, but after what they did for me, I owed them the time it took to write this recommendation.

the previous owner of the home we bought last fall let his dog run wild in the kitchen with the hardwood floors. Water bowl spill that left the floor warped and worn finish from slider door across the kitchen. I had really nice wood floors in my old house so this really bugged me. R& R sanded and refinished the kitchen and eating area. They also did a maintenance coat on our entry and hallway which was in better condition. Rob, the owner of R&R suggested this rather than refinishing everything to save money and he felt they could make it look good without sanding. I appreciated this since I never thought of that as an option. they came on time. the 2 workers were very professional, answered some questions we had before they started and left the place looking great. Our instructions for prep prior to the job led me to believe that there would be some dust left when job was done. There was some, but it was very minimal and did not take long to dust the baseboards and some low window sills.The floors look great and I once again have floors I can be proud of. By the way, I did not have my Angies' List subscription when I signed the contract but did ask him for references, who very highly recommended them. i see the other 2 reviews here are pretty bad, but that was not our experience at all.

They scheduled at my convenience, were punctual and demeanor was professional. Dust from the sanding was light and manageable. They worked quickly and efficiently. I had to ask them back to rework a couple of boards with finish flaws. My call was returned promptly and they made themselves available at my convenience with no delays on their part. After the second visit I noticed a couple of drips and a can ring on the previously refinished floor which I took care of myself. A cloth or cardboard for the working equipment would have solved that issue. Result - The floor looks good and I would consider using them again.

The did a great job installing the flooring and on time- However when they were done they left the floor without any baseboard. I was told the quote didn't include the baseboard. I showed them in the quote that it did list baseboard. We agreed on a 1/2 inch trim and they installed unpainted and unstained baseboard. They left without painting it and without applying a bead of caulk to seal it to the wall. I had hired a painter to paint another area in my home and they told me to hire the painter to do it. I didn't want to have to pay someone else to finish their work. I told them they needed to come back and finish the job but they never came back. I would not recommend hiring them to put in your new flooring unless you want to finish the trim work yourself.

Their price was very reasonable. I did have a problem with the initial job they did but they came and corrected it. They work with you. They will come back and do the work if you are not happy about it. They could have done the work right in the first time. I would use them in the future.

Initially it did not go well. They did not match what we asked them to match and they had to come back out. They did not put the correct finish on. They did come back several times and the end product worked right. They said they had dustless machines and that wasn't the case. There was dust everywhere. Their price was good. In the end it was fine. The owner had to come out about 4 times and I think the people that worked for him did really bad. We had asked that they match the floor and that didn’t happen. They had to tear out boards in the existing floor that we had and put in new boards. They charged extra for that. It did turn out really nice once the owner came out. The owner was very professional. I would use them again but I would make sure the owner oversaw the whole project.

R&R did an awesome job! I have dogs and they suggested the extra coat, which I got. They came out and did the estimate on time, and the work was done on the dates we agreed on. The work was top notch. When I originally set out to find someone to do the work, everyone I asked said, "R & R"! It was evident that they have a good reputation in Boise. I have since recommended them to others who have been happy too.
