I was quoted a fair price for a new pump and told it could be installed the next day. The workman arrived the next day, took some measurements, and left, saying he'd have to come back the next day to install, "first thing". The next morning he wasn't there until 10am and worked until 4pm, just to install the one pump. In the process, he broke a couple of pipes and had to replace them with PVC. He left the old pump sitting in my yard, strewn about in several pieces. Empty packaging of the new pump was left strewn about the yard. The new pump was not secured to the concrete foundation underneath it. It was not level. A support that had been in place to hold one pipe up had been knocked over and not properly replaced. Somewhere in the process a new leak developed in one of the faucets connected to the pump. The whole job was a sloppy mess. I have never experienced such shoddy workmanship before from a contractor that has come to my house to perform any work. The work is still ongoing, so it is possible that they will eventually make things right. I'll be sure to update this post if so.
