Want to support local business here...not sure I can... Recently hired Madeline George to do a small project. Was put in queue and they showed up around the date they said they would - 6 weeks out was the quote. Original estimate for this small job was $1,000 or so. Final bill was close to $2,000. The extra was due to difficulties discovered when they were already on site. Problems were real. I got it. My problem here was that I and the Manager did not communicate well during this time - we had scope creep and I trusted what they were telling me. But, no new price quotes were given and I did not ask. My mistake. Their mistake. When I got the final bill I thought the process was 10% to 15% too high. I documented this is a letter to the Manager. The response back was defensive and completely tone deaf to my concern of being proced a bit too high. Instead I was reminded how professional they were, etc. Given the Manager's inability to listen to customer concerns and show any empathy towards them - remember we were talking 10% - 15% of a $2,000 bill - I am not sure I will use their services again.
