Jeremy Riddle came to our home and looked the job over carefully with me (about an hour of time). He said he could match the paint on the garage entry door and also pointed out that trim around door also was scratched and needed painting too. I agreed. We also took quite a bit of time on a hole left by a woodpecker damage and how to repair it. We discussed two ways he could repair it. He bid the total job at over $600. He required 2/3rds down to cover materials and hold a date to do the work. When he arrived to work my husband took the day off to be there with him. First thing he did was to tell him he could not do the woodpeckers hole repair as it was too high for his ladder. The contractor then told us he had bid only $175 for the woodpecker nest. To adjust for this charge, he adjusted a door that had sagged and was not closing properly. He then sanded the entry door, and put primer paint on it. He did not either remove hardware on the door or cover it. He got paint all over then hardware. He next told my husband that his bid did not cover sanding and painting the door jam too and if we wanted it done it would be an additional $185. My husband called me and confirmed it was discussed and agreed upon when bidding. We passed on the ransom demand for painting the door jam. He next filled the scratches on the outside door door and stained that area successfully. He told my husband that all the painting was complete (He did not paint the garage door, only primed it). The job was left with one of the t three tasks completed and a demand for more to finish the job he had bid. No materials (ie the matching paint for the door) were purchased or if they were, he did not bring them to the job. He bid a job he could not do, took the money upfront, and left us high and dry. Beware.
