Working with Nigel and Dave at English Heritage was a breath of fresh air after struggling for months with a different fireplace business. When Nigel came out to do the estimate, he thoroughly checked out the existing fireplace, actually opened the doors to the woodburning insert to look inside and out at what I had for them to utilize. He took measurements, provided the materials I needed to select the insert I wanted. Everything was very efficient. What occurred during this estimate are logical activities, but none of this occurred when the previous business came to give me an estimate. When I provided English Heritage with the 2 inserts I liked the best, I received a detailed, itemized bid for both options within a day or two. They remembered to include in the bid the little extra project I had requested. When I made my decision, I was confident that they understood my request and that they could provide the service I needed at the prices quoted. English Heritage did a great job staying in communication with me about the ordering of the insert, the scheduling of the work, and during the actual project. After the project was done, I had a couple of challenges with the insert (I choose one that had been on the market for only 1-2 months), and they were very responsive to come to my home to figure out what was going on. There was a slight design flaw with the gas insert, but the manufacturer provided a fix for it. English Heritage installed the additional device as soon as it was available. There have been no issues since. Really, the quality of the masonry and work is quite good. This is my first experience with such a project and so I didn't really know what to expect. Some of the veneer stones have scratches or chips. The color of the mortar could have been a little better match. If they had touched up these scratches and chips for me, they would have earned an A. I wish I could provide before and after photos because the transformation of the fireplace is fabulous.
