Chris removed hoses, cleaned connections, purchased and installed hoses after discussing options. He spent an hour on the job and charged far less than I expected. I will use him again.
Description of Work: Replaced supply hoses to appliances. One of the connections was corroded so I was concerned I may need to replace valve and didn't want to risk damage. It turns out he could get the connection loose.

Carl replaced the timing belt on our 2002 Honda Civic. I worked as an auto mechanic in the past, and I know what is involved in doing his job. Carl replaced the timing belt, but he did not not replace the water pump because it was in good shape; in this way he saved us money. Two months post job the Civic does not leak oil and it runs quieter than it did before the belt was replaced. Carl is an honest auto mechanic who has always done great work at a fair price on my 2002 Honda Accord and my wife's Civic.

We have been pleased with Chris's work. For emergencies he comes quickly, for other appointments he will set us up with an appointment over the phone. Chris does a good job cleaning up during the service and afterwards. He seems very knowledgable and is extremely pleasant to work with.
Description of Work: We have used Chris's plumbing services at least 3-4 times. He has replaced a toilet and a faucet in the kitchen.

Chris was very meticulous in preparing the ground including laying sand down prior to putting the pavers in place. His work is good and his final price was as quoted prior to beginning work.

Chris was pleasant, worked quickly and with skill, and left our sink cleaner than before.
Description of Work: Chris came the same day I called, diagnosed the problem, procured and installed a new garbage disposal. This condo is shared with my brother, who paid the bill, so I cannot report the amount except to say it was reasonable.

Chris brought two sizes of trim boards, so we could pick one. He measured the length and angle required. Then he painted the trim boards to match. After that he drilled screw holes and screwed the boards into place. Then he caulked the screw holes. He offered to repaint the caulked areas, but we decided we could do that after they dried.
Description of Work: Added a wood trim to a new attic vent.

Unfortunately, this time he was late, inattentive, very slow, and more expensive. He was also supposed to come back and do some wiring. He never called or showed up. A real mystery! I hate giving anyone a negative review, but frankly, he deserves it. From my previous review 2 years ago: He was energetic, polite, thorough, intelligent, focused, and meticulous. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: UPDATE: this time we hired Chris to install some light fixtures. From my previous review 2 years ago: He uninstalled our old hot water heater from its tight, cramped, flooded space & installed a new one on a Friday evening.

Chris seemed like a good fit for the work that I needed done with some good ideas and he seemed knowledgeable. The initial work was done and the pesky leak from my bath overflow was fixed. We talked about quite a bit more work to be done and he seemed to be interested and up for the task after he finished another job. I talked to him a couple of times after that when he indicated he would be ready to start soon and would have information about what materials he would need. The last conversation was never followed through on despite several phone messages left. Also in the mean time one of the fixtures he installed stopped working properly. What seemed like a good start turned into an unprofessional experience and wasted time with incomplete work.

Response from Chris Wright
I disagree with the member’s complaint of September 7, 2013. On July 9, 2013, I was tasked with stopping a leak form the upstairs tub that was dripping into the basement of [Member Name]’ 1962 house. I worked seven hours (10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) and completed the job thoroughly. I leak and function checked the tub. The customer was satisfied. The total bill was $360.49 ($245.00 labor and $115.49 materials, C.O.D. [Member Name] only had his credit card and told me he would send a check. I called him two weeks later to ensure the tub was no longer leaking. [Member Name] was still satisfied with the work completed. He said, “The tub works great and does not leak into the basement anymore.” After over a month (I still had not received payment for the job I had completed for [Member Name]) he called me wanting to start a bathroom remodel by replacing his old tub/shower surround with a new one. He again said, “The tub works great.” I told him I would not take on another job for him until I was paid for the job already completed and to send me a check. [Member Name] said, “O.K.” and I received a check on August 16, 2013 by mail, five weeks after the job was completed. (Had my work not been satisfactory up to this point, I would have received no check.) [Member Name] called again toward the end of August and asked if I would replace his tub/shower surround. I said I would if he could find one that works with a waist high window in the middle of it. He called a week later and told me he could not find one and was now having a low cold water pressure issue with the tub. This was seven weeks after the job was completed. I informed him that it was rust in the pipes (a 1962 house with galvanized iron pipes) and a separate issue from what I had repaired. He wanted me to shop for a tub surround for him. I informed him that there is not supposed to be window waist high in a shower. In his Angie’s List Member Comments (as on the phone with me), he stated: “The initial work was done and the pesky leak from my bath overflow was fixed.” How was my work then ,”incomplete” and “unprofessional”? Where was “time wasted with incomplete work”? The job I was hired to do was thoroughly and successfully completed. The water pressure issues and the tub/shower surround remodel are two entirely separate projects and [Member Name] was advised of this. I do not wish to start any new projects for him due to his unrealistic expectations about his proposed remodeling jobs and the unavailability of a tub/shower surround with a window opening in the middle of it. The window in his tub/shower surround needed to go away or it would leak and he did not agree with me. Also, having to ask him again for payment for satisfactory work completed over a month before does not inspire me to do more work for him in the future. His desired resolution to fix his subsequent water pressure/rusty pipe issue for free is unacceptable. I would rather not work for him anymore.

My husband and I are DIYers. However, after working on a project for over 5 hours (should have taken 2 hours at the most) that we just couldn't get right we called a Handyman. I checked out a couple websites, and called around. We decided on chris wright as our Handyman. I called at 3pm and was able to schedule an appointment for 8am the next morning. Chris, was early! He called when he was on his way. He was very polite and very professional. He took a look at the issue, gave us a quote (very fair price, cheaper than Home Depot would have been). We wanted to watch him work as we wanted to learn how to do this in the future. He was very okay with that, and let us ask him questions while he worked. I was very impressed as he was able to get everything to work within about 45 minutes and one trip to Home Depot to get one part we didn't have. You could tell he knew what he was doing. I am not always that comfortable letting anyone into our house, but the service and professionalism of chris cannot be beat.

Chris fit us in on his way home from a busy day when he had a three week backlog. He spent about an hour trouble shooting the faucet (you'd think this would be easy but there were some legitimate troublesome equipment issues). When he left, he charged us less than half what I expected and told me twice to call him if there was any problem or leaking. There hasn't been the slightest problem with the repair. Perfect. He was personable and considerate, working in our kitchen when we had company in for dinner without being disruptive in the least. I will hire him again in an instant (and no, I'm not related or connected to him in any way.)

Chris' lack of consideration and thoughtfulness is unacceptable. He is plain rude to this senior citizen. Beware.
Description of Work: Chris responded to my call at 10:15 PM which I found unacceptable, but since I have had him for work previously, I didn't tell him it was too late to call. I made a date with Chris 8/13/2013 to re-caulk the eaves around my house. He set the date for 8/29/2013 and told me he would be here at 9:30 AM on that date. He asked if I could provide him with a ladder and I told him I have a 10 ft. ladder that would work. He called back this morning (8/20/2013) to inform me that he was charging 'time and a half' due to my job being 'on a ladder' making his charge at $ 53.50 PER HOUR. He worked on cleaning my eaves last fall and charged me his regular fee of $35 per hour, which I feel is pretty high as it is......$50.50 being ridiculous for a handyman I will grant him that he does a good and thorough job, but his fee is WAY over the top in my view. Unless BSU is handing out degrees for handymen, I'm not willing, nor can I afford $52.50 for such simple work. My opinion is that he just didn't want to do it and probably got a job more to his liking for that morning. I'm retired and in not good enough physical condition to do this job, so I will have to find someone else and I will NEVER call Chris again to help me.

Chris was scheduled to come out on Tues but gave me a call Mon evening since he was in our area. He came right over, assessed the issue and went immediately to work. It was a bit of a challenge to complete; pulling out the broken pipe pieces with minimal impact to the wall. Chris is very polite, personable and professional. His pricing was reasonable and fair, I will definitely call Chris again for some other work that has been put off for far too long.

He was over two-and-a-half hours late for an appointment that he set with me and then I left him a message. He never called to say he was running late and we had to leave and then he came in the hour that we are gone and I left him a message saying you know we are sorry, we missed him, but we didn't know he was still going to show up and to call me and that was on a Friday and he didn't respond until the following Monday. He never ended up doing service because when he finally did call me back he said the next appointment opening he had was July 27th. I told him I found someone else to do it for who is less expensive also. I would not use them again.

Chris is very reliable and trustworthy. He has done work in the past on two other houses that I have purchased. He does quality work and I think his prices are entirely reasonable.
Description of Work: Chris basically fixed all the things that were pointed out by the home inspection done before purchasing this home. He cleared out debris in the crawlspace, put down a moisture barrier, enclosed loose wires in electrical boxes to bring it up to code, repaired the fence outside and did some work on the exterior siding. He will be coming back next week to install baffles in the attic to keep insulation away from the vents.
