They did very well, punctual and professional. I had initially just complained of a slow toilet, thinking the problem was in the plumbing but he showed me how the old toilet (prob 50 yrs) had clogged up and was really the problem. I hadn't planned on getting a new toilet at that time but they made a good price and it will be fewer problems down the road. They also let me know about the condition of the floor, and to watch for that.
Description of Work: Installation of shutoff valves under kitchen sink, replacement of kitchen sink faucet, replacement of toilet.

We were referred to Ackerman Plumbing by a friend who recently had some work done at their home, giving raving reviews about this company. Not only were they prompt with their price quotes; their prices were quite reasonable considering our project. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism, friendliness, and quality demonstrated by this company, its staff, and their services. Our three-year-old daughter just loved Dale, their serviceman. I will absolutely hire Ackerman Plumbing again, and will be referring all our friends and family!

Response from Ackerman Plumbing
I'm sorry you feel you had a bad experience with us. You will find below an email that Nathan, our General Manager, sent to your business partner 2 days before you posted this review, and following that is the response from your business partner showing complete understanding of the situation. On Dec 28, 2016 11:44 AM, "Nathan Klostermann" [removed email address] wrote: Hello [Removed Member Name], Thank you for meeting with me at your project yesterday. I tried to call you on your phone but it went straight to voicemail. Unfortunately we will not be able to bid or perform the work that needs to be done on your new home. The city of Iowa City requires that a building permit be approved before any work can begin on any project. I am required to make sure before I start any projects, that the city does have a permit approved. The city informed me that you currently do not have an approved plan and that no permit has been issued at this time, therefore work can not be started. Before you can have any work begin or continue you MUST get a permit through the city approved. The city informed me that you had tried to get a permit previously but that they hadn't approved the initial attempt because the plans were not inline with the work to be performed and that it could be another 2-4 weeks before the permit gets approved. How this affects me, is that I have months worth of work lined up and will be to busy to work on your project before the permit gets approved. Also, I can not risk working on an unapproved project. On a personal note, I am terribly sorry that you have had bad experiences with your previous contractors and that you have found yourself behind schedule. Even though you are behind schedule and want to get your project finished as quickly as possibly, you really really really do have to get plans approved through the city. Otherwise, you will continue to have scheduling issues and you will continue to fall farther behind. If you complete the project without the proper permits and inspections the city will likely not grant you occupancy, and not allow you to live in the house that you have been working so hard and spent money on to build. I know that yesterday you or [Member Name Removed] had told me that the city told you to continue to build and they would do one inspection when the project was complete but that is not how it happens. I am not sure who told you that but it was bad advice. They will not allow you to move into your home unless you go through all the required protocol. None of the work that you have had performed on your house thus far should have happened without the permit. Including the framing. I believe that even though the framer did a good job, he should have also waited on verifying that a permit was approved. Any information about permits, associated fees, and other requirements can be obtained at the City Office. Their phone number is 319-356-5120 Best of Luck to you, Nathan We received the following email back from your business partner moments later that same day: From: [Member Name Removed] [removed email address] Date: Wed, Dec 28, 2016 at 11:56 AM Subject: Re: Plumbing To: Nathan Klostermann [removed email address] Nathan Koster manner Good morning, Thank you very much for this detailed information on our home remodeling project. You are absolutely right about the permit to be obtained from the City. Unfortunately, this whole project is a mess. My partner was managing it and [removed], and now it is causing us a significant delay. We really appreciate you coming yesterday and trying to help us complete the stalled plumbing work. I took over the project now and I hope that I will be able to get things straighten up. Once again, Nathan, Thank you very much. You have a nice, safe and joyful holiday. Peace, [Member Name Removed]

Great! Corey worked hard to combine my calls into as few stops as possible to provide cost effective options. He recommended a sink and faucet that I love and Josh, who installed the sink, did a great job. Very professional, prompt and helpful.

We called 11 plumbers in the CR/IC area to give us estimates on plumbing a remodeled kitchen and adding a half-bath - 11! And only 2 bothered to call us back. Corey was the 12th we contacted as a referral from our Geothermal installers - he was punctual, nice, experienced, got the work done in a timely manner, and we have since called him back to do more work for us (piping a gas dryer line, adding an on-demand water heater). We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him, and plan to ask him to return for more work.
Description of Work: Ackerman Plumbing replumbed a remodeled kitchen, an added half-bath, installed a tankless water heater and plumbed a gas line for our dryer.
