We had 2 leaky tub/shower faucets. My husband tried to repair them and in the process twisted the pipes on the valve. He was able to repair one of the tub/shower faucets however the other was bent severely and we were concerned about a potentially serious leak. My husband called Holt Plumbing & Heating Inc. on the evening of 8/9 and spoke to the receptionist/scheduler. Since this wasn't an emergency a plumber called him back the next morning. We were excited to learn they could make a service call on a Saturday morning without any additional charge for weekend rates. The plumber arrived on schedule and assessed the situation and then provided an estimate to replace both tub/shower faucets. We thought it would be a good idea to replace them both since they were both leaking and they were 18 years old. We also asked him to quote us a price to replace the tub drains because they looked pretty worn. The estimates almost sent me into cardiac arrest. Holt's ad in the yellow pages stated "Our prices are quite modest". Really???? The estimate to replace both tub/shower faucets was over $1700.00 and the estimate to replace both tub drains was over $500.00. We quickly decided we would only replace the tub/shower faucet that had been severely twisted in the process of trying to remove it. The estimate for replacing just the one tub/shower faucet was over $900. Since we'd already incurred the cost of the service call and we were concerned about leaks we reluctantly agreed for him to complete the work. He went right to work and did an excellent job and took extra steps not to track dirt on our newly installed carpet. When the work was completed he left everything neat and tidy just as he found it. The final bill was reduced to $815.00 (including a $20.00 off coupon) because he didn't have to cut into the drywall to access the pipes. No complaints about the work but $815.00 to replace one tub/shower faucet? I'm upset with myself for not doing my homework ahead of time. I chose Holt because of their rating on Angie's list. Guess I should have gone with DDS Plumbing because their ratings are better and apparently so are their prices. Today I saw an Angie's List report for DDS Plumbing where the customer had the same issue as we did and he only spent $170.00 for the repairs and purchased the fixtures himself. I saw the fixture online at Delta's website for $143.45. WOW did I get ripped off! I consider this a very costly learning experience.

The install crew was good, professional and worked very hard all day - until almost 9pm. The install was very neat and well done. The follow up visit to "tune" my new furnace and a/c also went well, the person who did the job was very good / professional.I didn't like that the crew leader and follow up person(s) were so pushy to get me to sign up for the maintenance plan. I also had agreed with the sales man to have a new thermostat installed but when the install crew arrived they said the "order wasn't written up that way" - I mean like who would spend that kind of money and not expect a new thermostat? I did complain about the thermostat and the company resolved it almost immediately to my satisfaction. What I like about that part is the company admitted, made the situation right and moved on - that show of face is reason enough to use them again - i.e. integrity.

They give good service and they are reliable.

My husband was happy with them. We have had them before. They didn't have an excellent grade on Angie's List because they had a couple of unhappy people sometime in the past. Basically they are extremely busy and so I'm sure they are going to have occasional complaints. But my husband was happy with them. I will use them again in the future.

The technician was neat, professional and wore stockings over the shoes to keep dirt to minimum. But, he said it was going to run me at least $300 to do the job plus the cost of opening holes in drywall in a finished basement. We could run the line outside the house but it was from one end of the house to the other and would be expensive. Now, here's the fun part. He was there 20 minutes and charged me a trip charge for the estimate. I paid him $78 to come out and do the estimate and I didn't even get a written estimate, just a ballpark guess that I'm not going to use. I wish I would've been told that this was going to cost me a trip charge. I would've thought about this a little harder and now I have nothing but a $78 hole in my pocket!

It was a pretty good service. They got done in a timely manner.

Service was prompt, personable. Repair man removed the toliet, put in two new wax rings (instead of just one) and was done very quickly. I appreciated the good service so much I signed up for the annual maintanence contract for heating and cooling...and I got a discount on the plumbing on this day and in the future. Holt did SO MUCH better than the previous plumber I worked with.

We were in the midst of remodeling our bathroom when we realized that we only had a water shut-off to the whole house, but needed one for just the bathroom. I searched Angie's List for a reputable plumber, and stumbled upon Holt. I called Holt around 11:00am on a Saturday morning, and they were there by 1:00pm that afternoon! I didn't expect them to say that they could help us on such short notice, so it was a great surprise, and enabled us to keep working on the bathroom instead of waiting another week for a fix. The plumber was super friendly, very clean (he even brought booties for his shoes), and provided great advice on the rest of the plumbing in the bathroom. I will definitely hire them for all of my plumbing/heating/AC needs from here on out!

Disappointed, I am currently looking for a plumber that can do the work.

I would rate them very high. Nothing but good service. Any problems I have with scheduling they work with me and they call before they come out that day.

The job went good. He actually did it. I had a plumber come out before him and he said he couldn?t do it. He would have to knock a hole in the wall at the other end of the shower. I hired Holt and they did it a lot more efficient and got it done within three hours.

I am very pleased with the service provided by Holt's Serviceman/Plumber Don Mc'Caulley. He arrived on time, was friendly, polite and courteous. He was very knowledgeable on the issue of sump pumps and answered all my questions in plain english with no technical terms.He offered me with 3 options and the pros and cons of each, along with the final price for each. He did NOT aggressively try to sell the higher priced options to me, in fact he suggested the opposite and told me that a water-backup solution would be cheaper and more effective than a battery backup or a generator. Based on his detailed and honest information I had no problem choosing the option that was right for me. I have scheduled him to install the water backup solution for $700 in my basement on 08/27. They actually called to see if they could come earlier, which was great considering it was the hottest day of the year. He came, did what he was supposed to do, and it all worked perfectly. The tech was a model of professionalism.

I called Holt Heating and Plumbing to look at my A/C which was leaking water onto my basement floor. Heres what I didnt like about their service: 1> The technician took about 2 hours to recognize the problem, which he could have done by just opening the A/C main unit on the basement right off the bat. The issue was a build up of ice in the A/C. 2> The technician was not offering me any temporary solutions to fix the issue of the water leak. The only option he gave me was to replace the a/c for $5000 or replace the refrigeration unit for $1000. 3> He did NOT guarantee that replacing the refrigeration unit for $1000 would fix the problem. He was experimenting a lot with the the mechanism of the A/C, as though he wasnt sure of the problem himself. 4> He was aggressively pushing his high cost solutions on me and didnt seem to consider my concerns about cost and didnt offer any reassurance. 5> His communication skills were wanting. He used overly technical terms to describe the issue and I didnt understand anything he said. 6> After he left, the A/C stopped blowing cold air thru the vents for a day or 2. We didnt understand why and when we called Holt to report the issue. The customer service representative was argumentative over the phone and told me that the A/C issue was pre-existing and not due to the technician. I told her that the A/C was at least blowing cold air before he touched it and I just wanted it back to the way it was. The customer service Rep refused to listen to me and after a prolonged and tense conversation over the phone, provided me the technician's cell phone number. By then the A/C had started blowing cold air again. But I called the technician and told him of the issue. He didnt seem to be concerned, didnt apologize and asked me if I was still planning to replace my A/C.

I called Holt because I cracked a copper lead tube on the tub in my upstairs hall bath while trying to replace the rubber seat washers. It was on a Saturday. First and foremost the work was done very well. I've done a bit of plumbing and can spot professional work. And it was professional work. On top of the work being done well he did it quietly. My 3 year old was napping in the room right next to the bathroom and the plumber. The plumber made every effort to do the work as quietly as possible. I appreciate that. What I didn't like, though I understand that most all businesses do this now, is the pitch to buy into a monthly service plan. If I bought the monthly service they would reduce the already extremely high "weekend" service rate/price. The plumber didn't pressure me but the price of $831 the pressure to reduce the expense was enormous. Another annoyance, minor as I look back, is that it took almost 3 hours for the plumber to arrive and the excuse wasn't a good one, lunch with an old buddy. Honest but not good. In the future Holt will be on the list of plumbers I consider for work at my house because of the professional workmanship and service but not because of price or the monthly service pitch.

I think that their prices were a little high, but I had no choice at the time to use them.

Everything was fantastic. We were really worried it would cost a lot of money. The guy did a great job, we were ecstatic with the service. He was punctual, did the job in a timely manner and we felt he saved us a lot of money. We were thrilled to death with them and will use them again.

I had a lot of trouble but it wasn?t necessarily their fault. They were trying to correct it. There was a wiring problem with the thermostat. There was no other easy way to fix the thermostat without trying everything. I didn?t like the way they put the thermostat. So they came out and I ended up finding the solution for the problem. The service people were very nice. They really tried hard to fix the problems and it is now fixed. The sales person that I dealt with kind of glazed over some things. It could also be that I just wasn?t sharp enough to catch it. I got a tax rebate for $1500 since the unit was an energy efficient unit. The price that they charged was average and satisfactory. The quality of their work was good.

They were very good and had excellent service. They were on time and professional and I have nothing but good marks to say about them.

They did and excellent job. They replaced the existing air-conditioner with a bigger unit. I think they are honest and they do the work in a timely fashion. The service people are always willing to talk and answer any questions you have, and I feel that they give me good answers. We also have a service contract with them or our furnace and air-conditioner. They come out once a year and check the furnace and once a year to do the upkeep on the air-conditioner and to check it.

Work is done in a timely manner and has to be scheduled out several weeks in advance.

The service person was amiable, knowledgeable and helpful. He explained the difference between fixing the old toilet and a new one. He had a catalog showing examples and prices. In the end, I opted for a new toilet and I'm glad I did. The service call and time spent fixing the 'dinosaur' will pay for itself in water savings over time. Also, the leak went beyond the toilet pipe where I could see it to the seal below. I appreciated the thorough explanation and quick response. They charge flat fees for services so you know what you will be paying. They also offer an agreement program where you pay a monthly fee and receive 15% off repair services. With an old house, this is the way to go!
