Central Iowa Handyman

I normally don?t take the time to write reviews, but what happened yesterday was enough to make me want to warn anyone else away from this contractor. I called Central Iowa Handyman on Monday and spoke to the owner/operator Greg Hughes. I told him that I needed a ceiling fan installed due to the height of my living room ceiling. He said that it would be no problem and that he would call me back later that day to make the appointment. After two days of not hearing from him, I called him back on Wednesday afternoon. He apologized for not getting back to me and said that he could still do the job. We agreed to meet at my house the following Tuesday during my lunch hour. He said that it would only take about an hour to make sure I?d be able to get back to work on time. Next Tuesday came and I was home by 12:00 waiting for Greg to arrive. When 12:15 arrived, I sent him a text asking for his ETA. At 12:20 I called him and got him on the phone. I said I was calling to see where he was and when he was going to arrive to install my ceiling fan. He didn?t seem to know who I was, said he was going to pull over, and then hung up on me. I called him back 10 times over the next 15 minutes and could not get him to answer his phone. I left several messages requesting that he call me back which he still has not done to this day. I remembered that his web site showed his business address was within a mile of my house so I figured I?d swing by on my way back to work and find out what was going on. When I got there I discovered that his business address is just a box at a UPS store. It would appear that he has no permanent business location. I find it hard to believe that someone would run their own business this way, but my experience with Central Iowa Handyman has left me very upset. I would suggest to anyone considering using their services to rethink their choice. If this is how he handles smaller one hour jobs, I?d hate to think what might happen if he was asked to take on a serious job that would take a week or more.
