We purchased a wooden play set(swings, slide, fort) for our children several years ago. At the time of the purchase, we went with the higher priced set from Rainbow because of the warranty and a strong perception of service after the sale. While very pleased with the playset over the years, we have become very disappointed in the service after the sale. A year ago, I asked the local store to check to see if a beam over the swings, which had developed some cracks, was still safe. I was assured that they would have someone look at the beam and if it was not safe, have it replaced for the cost of the labor. When I didn't hear anything back, I called the store to see if they had checked. They couldn't find records, but said they were sure that if it was a problem I would have heard something. I accepted the explanation, but seeing how they followed through on the request to have the set stained, I wonder if they ever looked at the set. A year ago, we asked that they clean and stain the set. It was a service they offered and they would be glad to do it. But it never happened. Months would go by. I'd call and they'd have trouble finding information on the request in their system, but assured us each time that they now had the order and they would be right on it. This summer a crew finally showed up, took the accessories off the set (swings, canvas tent, etc) and cleaned the wood. They were to come back once the set had a chance to dry. They never returned. I called the store and asked to speak to the owner in August. When I reached him by cell phone, he assured me that he would get right to the bottom of it and have a crew finish the job in the next week or call me back to let me know when they could do it. I never heard back from him. I left a message on the owners cell phone asked what had happened. No response. I have submitted a complaint to the manufacturer via the website. No response. We now plan to get the staining done by someone else, which we could have had done a year ago, if the business had said up-front that staining sets was not something they did. We also plan to have an expert look at the beam and if it is not satisfactory, we'll try to work directly with the manufacturer to hold them to their lifetime warranty.
