We were happy with the quoted price, as we were not familiar with the work that needed to be done during the glass seaming process. After getting the piece home, we looked at it, and the edges were found to be quite uneven and bumpy. The overall appearance of the piece was unprofessional. So we did a little research on the internet and made some phone calls, and we found that only a small amount of work is needed to achieve a smooth finish. Despite this, it took them five days to complete the work. We called them and were told that they could "sand it a little more," or we would have to order a new piece with a different type of edge for $120 more (no refund or discount for what we already paid). In order to get the different edge, they would have to send the piece out to be worked on elsewhere, so presumably it would take at least an additional week to get what we needed. Neither of these options were very appealing to us, so we decided to have someone else take a look at it. After inspection by another company, we were told that this was unacceptable, shoddy work, as only the corners (not the "flat" part of the edges) had actually been sanded. For $15 and within 10 minutes, our piece was sanded, oiled, and finished to our complete satisfaction. After we had the work re-done, we called McGough Glass to inform them of our experience. After relaying our story to them, their response was simply the words "Uh huh. OK." The person we spoke with at McGough was entirely disinterested in hearing about the work that left their shop. Again, we felt the price was good, but we simply didn't receive what we ordered, and they made no effort to make it right.
Description of Work: We needed a protective glass top for a new desk. We called on 3/5/12 and described what we needed. They told us that they could cut the glass to our required dimensions and seam it to provide a smooth edge for $55.00 - which we thought was a reasonable price. The work was done on 3/9/12 for the price specified, so we were able to pick the piece up on the fifth day.
