I have a 6,000+ sq foot home that is 25 years old. As such I have had to put a new: roof, siding, painting, flooring, counters. furnaces and A/C. Of all the many jobs that I have had done, this job was perhaps the best I have had. There basically are two kinds of service companies: The smaller companies where the owner, salesman and best worker are one and the same. The larger company that maybe second generation where a salesman or owner meets with you in a fancy car and the actual workers and crew leader are really subcontractors to this large company. Tony is the owner of a small concrete company and Tony knows his business and other concrete workers in the area. In my case he had to schedual the actual pouring of the concrete for Saturday where was able to assemble a group of very good workers who were available assist he and his regular crew so that this large drive could be poured all on the same day (best for consistent color). He spent a week pulling the old drive, taking much of the sand base out, and grinding the old concrete for a new base. Most vendors would new go to such trouble. He was able also give a beautiful pattern to surface of the drive. He came in at the estimate which was about 10% below another company (larger and more well known). Tony does not have a web site and as such does not have much marketing pzazz. But he is exactly the kind of guy you want for your job.
Description of Work: I live out in Napa Valley and have a very long driveway. The old driveway was about 25 years old and had numerous large cracks and was very uneven. He took out the old drive, which did not have re-bar and was 4 inches thick. He than took out the concrete and many truck loads of sand under the old drive. He then rented a special grinder that took all the old cement and ground it up for base to use in place of the sand. In its place I now have a 5" thick drive with floating iron re-bar that has crushed concrete under it. He put a wonderful pattern on it and we receive complements all the time.
