They turned out to be fine and were prompt in coming out. They gave me an accurate estimate and worked with me on the price. They were just all around good to work with.

I contacted them at the Home and Garden Show. They followed up promptly, gave an on-the-spot reasonable estimate, and we set up a date. I picked out the color and dropped it by their office. They came on the date promised and completed the work by late the next day. It took a little longer because of the repairs needed which had to dry thoroughly. Everyone with whom I was in contact was friendly and courteous. I would recommend them to anyone who needs painting done.

We are extremely pleased with CertaPro Painters of Des Moines. They are very professional, extremely knowledgeable and they came forth with the dos and don'ts and suggestions. Their price was competitive and did a wonderful job. I painted my garage and he helped me by suggesting what I should do to make it faster. They are very good painters and very helpful. If a job is more than I can handle, I will most definitely use them in the future.

We had a horrible experience with Certa Pro. The upfront discussion with the Sales person went well, but that was it. The first painter that arrived, came without a ladder or paint--He had to go get paint and borrow our ladder--That should have been our first clue that this was going to be a bad experience. The painter did a terrible job and attempted to come back twice to fix it. He got paint all over our walls and the job on the fireplace mantle was a disaster. Worst of all, he spilled paint all over our carpet and we are STILL trying to work with Certa Pro to fix that. Finally, when someone with some painting experience came back out to fix the mantle, he did a great job but did not do anything to take care of the paint on my carpet. When we talked to the manager of Certa Pro, he kept promising to fix the carpet but demanded payment from us in the meantime. I refused payment until my carpet was fixed. Needless to say, my carpet is not fixed and insurance companies are fighting it out. Do not ever use Certa Pro! The experience I had with them was absolutely terrible and I am still fighting with them to fix the damage they did to my carpet!!

They showed up on time and delivered what they promised. My house was left in clean condition with a fresh new coat of paint.

Called CertaPro to get a quote on painting our retail storefront. The call center scheduled Scott to come out only a day or two later. the quote provided was very reasonable, and Scott was very professional. We have not done the work yet because we are still working on remodeling budgets, but we likely will use CertaPro.

Although a delay in scheduling occurred because of another job that ran over, the rescheduled appointment was kept. The painters showed up on schedule, were very professional and helpful, and the clean-up was great. The glazing and paint job were great. I would definitely hire this company again. A slight premium in the price was well worth it for the convenience, professionalism, and qualify of the work.

We chose CertaPro because they painted our neighbor's house across the street and it looks so nice. We've seen some negative comments on the internet about CertaPro (in other states) but we can tell you that CertaPro in Urbandale, IA is top-notch! The owner himself came to our house to do the estimate/bid. He operates his business with integrity and that goes a long way with us! The two painters that came to work on our house (Chris and Greg) were fantastic! They are professional, courteous, prompt and efficient. They showed up when they said they would, they were hard workers, cleaned up before they left each day and most of all they KNOW what they're doing! I cannot say enough nice things about them. I highly recommend CertaPro! My house looks wonderful and now two more of my neighbors are preparing to have their houses painted by them, too. I will definitely be using their services in the future!

These guys are Rip-Off guru's. DON'T USE THEM. They switched paints and didn't use Sherwin Williams super paint that the contract called for. I paid 3500.00 to paint my entire house (exterior). When the finished the job it looked great but after 3 months the paint faded. They said the used Sherwin Williams Super Paint. Sherwin Williams said there was no way it was their paint. Sherwin Williams will only deal with the person or company who purchased it... so I have no way of dealing with them. After all of Certa Pro's remedies and fixes, my house sets two-toned with the front Steel Gray and the sides and back Reddish Gray. The Guy (Steve's Brother) who owns the company is an attorney, so fat chance of winning in small claims court. I lost in small claims court because I couldn't "Prove" the paint used was not Sherwin Williams.... How do you prove that? The pictures show a drastic difference in color. Steve said in court that the drastic difference in colors between the front and sides were totally acceptable and met his companies standards. In addition the workmanship was terrible, peeling and chipping paint, shabby caulking, overspray etc. Here is where I messed up. I signed the sheet that says the job was completed. When you sign it the warranty means nothing. The mediator in court told me that the warranty is a marketing tool only. No matter what Certa Pro says about this disagreement, just look at the pictures or drive by my house and judge for yourself. What you see is what is completely acceptable in Steve's opinion. See my house at 450 N. Hickory Blvd., Pleasant Hill, Iowa. I'm planning on leaving it for a while so all can see the great workmanship of Certa Pro.

They ended up calling me back about 3 weeks later. At this point I had already hired another company.

I heard about them at a home show. They were courteous and came out and gave me an estimate. They were prompt and did a real good job. They did little extras that needed to be done to the walls. They inspected it when it was done and made sure that everything was right. I will use them again.

They gave me an estimate, and we agreed on the type of paint and what I wanted done. They sent out a painter who did a poor job, and switched paints to a poorer quality. I will never use them again.

They were very nice and the estimate was reasonable. We had some stuff come up so we never got the project done.

It didn't cost me a thing because my insurance covered it. They were easy to talk to and treated me like I was their neighbor. They were clean-cut and professional. They just went above and beyond and kind of sympathized with the situation.

Very poorly - walls required numerous touch-up repairs and still do not look very good. Ceilings were "rolled" instead of sprayed and there are numerous spots that were skipped and uneven coating. Locations around ceiling lights have areas that were not painted at all. Painters assigned were outside painters and they were not careful around woodwork or furniture. They did not have any portable lighting so it was difficult to see in the rooms as we had removed all lamps, chairs and end tables so they needed additional light sources. Almost all window moldings (stained) had paint runs and spots that needed cleanup after they left - even though we had them back several times to try to fix our issues. Finally gave up in order to do it ourselves and be rid of the whole thing.

We got an estimate, then hired them. The price didn't change when finished. They did all the prep work and painted. One side of our house bubbled after they painted, so they rescraped & painted again until it looked good. They did a good job overall, but a few areas seemed a little sloppy with paint splatters.

The owner & I agreed on general colors and when It came time for specifics, I chose the color I wanted. Scott was very professional but friendly, too.

We used different colors in each area including an accent wall in the breakfast room, and there was detail work done around the windows adjoining both the front and back doors. Mike Weiland, the sales manager, came to our home twice to sort out the bid and help us select colors, even though we live in Madison County. Our two painters were friendly and respectful, did a thorough job, made any minor wall repairs needed as they worked, cleaned up the job well, and we pleasant to have in our home. CertaPro's estimate came in less than another company's even though CertaPro included all paint and the other company did not! The job was done in four days and it looks fantastic. We will use them again if we need work in the future.

The process went very smoothly. The services were performed as estimated, and the results are excellent. I especially appreciated the estimator tailoring the bid to fit my situation.

I spent this whole month trying to get my 2 decks painted the proper color. What happened was the painter told me he was going to Sherwin Williams to get a color chart and he would be out at 1:30 p.m. that day. He didn't show up until 6:30 p.m. and told me he didn't have time to go to Sherwin Williams and he picked out the color he wanted. I wound up having to pay extra money to get them to paint the color I wanted. I will not use them again in the future. The man who came out to give me the estimate originally was professional, but the guy who came out to paint was not.

I was pleased. They actually called the weekend before they were scheduled to start and asked if they could work over the weekend as rain was predicted during the week. They were very careful of my foundation plantings. I questioned a few things during the inspection and they were corrected on the spot.

They showed up and left when they felt like it. We had four different painters throughout the whole job. It took them longer than it should of because they did not have good painters. They had to continue the project the following spring because they were not able to get it done before winter. The porch floor immediately bubbled and pealed. They did not finish the job they gave us money to hire someone else to finish the job for them. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Mike came out at our convenience (after work) and listened to what we wanted done. We had limited funds on what we wanted to spend, but wanted estimates on all our "wants". Mike was happy to do an estimate on every room and gave us a few options to save money (like moving furniture ourselves, removing outlets, removing wallpaper, etc). Besides the above, we also received an estimate on basement and a couple bedrooms, but due to our funds we cut it down to the main rooms we wanted painted. We received and estimate from another painting company for $1200 just for the entry way, so for the same price we got 2 extra bathrooms painted as well. Mike was also excellent at helping us pick out colors and was pleased to answer any questions we had. We had an idea of colors, but Mike was able to help us pick the right ones and the final product turned out great. CetraPro hires contractors to do the work, but they have a close relationship with certain contractors so they know they will do a good job. When job completed, we filled out a survey asking questions about how we would rate the contractors, CetraPro as a company, etc. Good to see a company care about customer service. Two people came out to do the job and they got it all done in one day while we were at work. I'm a perfectionist, so went around and closely looked at walls and had contractor touch up about 5 spots. He was happy to do this for me and apologized that he missed them (very small white specs in most cases, so no huge spots.) He left the remaining paint with us, so we have to use if we nick up the walls in the future. Paint was from Shewin Williams. Overall, great experience and would recommend if you are in need of painting and also if you need help in deciding on colors. Look for coupons in the ValPak, or just ask for the 15% discount and guessing they will honor that. Thanks CetraPro.

They did a great job as far as their bid. I decided to postpone the work because the project seemed to cost more than what I anticipated. I am intended to use them at some point. They were the most competitive in the painting bid. They were extremely professional.

Since I wrote the review below, Steve Weiland has been in contact with me twice, apologized for the mix up, said there had been some change of personnel in the office and he would take care of the refund and gift card immediately. He also said he would like to send the painters back out to bring the paint job up to standard. Money arrived the next day, thank you very much, and the touch up is scheduled for May 10. These actions have restored my confidence in CertaPro and I would call them again for painting needs. First Review written: Certapro painters were recommended from a good friend whose whole house was painted on the interior. Mike came out, did the estimate, said he would not charge extra for a bookcase we had to paint, we agreed to estimate, and scheduled painting, to be completed before new carpet was to be laid. Downstairs living room and hallway had no furniture or carpet to move or cover. First contractor (their work is performed by painters who contract with them, not a Certapro employee) showed up late the first day, taped off the chair rail upstairs and then left my home unlocked and unsupervisored the remainder of the day. I called and spoke to Tim, he was very concerned and said he would send another contractor because that was not how they expected their folks to work. I reminded him that the job HAD to be completed by Wednesday night, as the carpet layer was coming Thursday morning. New contractor showed up the next morning with the wrong paint. I was pretty sure I had requested low VOC paint, but it had not been included on the bid I had signed. They went to the store and bought the right paint and came back to start. By Tuesday night, below the chair rail was not even done. I called Tim and expressed my concern again. Also the contractor said that because the bookcase was not included on the bid, she would not paint it. I asked her if she could add it and she said it would an extra $100. I agreeded, I had no choice, it had to be done and I would not have time before Thursday morning. The painting was completed by late on Wednesday, I wrote the contractor a check. After the carpet layers came and went I got to looking closely at the paint, there was a large spot below the chair rail that was obviously missed, not just missing the top coat, for the bid had been written for two coats, but missed entirely, old color was visible, right behing a dining room chair. Other spots above door jams were missed, nothing that you could see until you looked closely, but it was there. I e-mailed Mike right away, no response. I called, he said he never got the e-mail. I talked to him, he assured me that they wanted to make it right. He sent Tim out to inspect. Mike also agreeded that I should be refunded the $100 for the bookcase, because he did promise to do it for no additional cost. The low VOC paint was not included in the bid, so it was my fault for not reading it more closely before signing. Tim came out, agreeded that the work was a little less than he would expect himself. He offered to have the contractor come back, no cost. I declined his offer, it was then the week before Thanksgiving, I did not have the time to stay home from work, let a contractor in, worry about the house being locked, etc. I thanked him for coming out and looking, he offered to send me a gift certificate from one of my favorite local restaurants and I thought that was a nice jesture, the least he could do. NO REFUND, NO GIFT CERTIFICATE was ever received. I did e-mail Mike about it twice, no reply, gave him fair warning that if I did not hear from him, I would write a negative review on Angie's List. NO REPLY. I will not recommend Certapro Painters to anyone, not just because of the sloppy work, but because of the way I was treated. Companies should not promise things like refunds and gift certificates and the not deliver them.
