Description of Work: I had to rent a car dolly to transport my car back to town and they went over the top to be helpful and help me with my task. I was really surprised that they were that great at giving me service.

On 6/23/13 I made a reservation for a 17' truck from 7am on 7/29/13 until 6pm 7/31/13 (I live in a college town and every rental company only writes leases from 8/1 until 7/29, so everyone in the city moves on the same day). The dates and times were available for this truck at the location that I wanted to use. I gave all the information that I usually give (I never give my phone number to any company because every time I do I get scam/spam phone calls), which included my email address for future contact. I received a confirmation email that the reservation had been placed. On Sunday 7/28 I called to ask if it would be possible to pick up the truck a day early. I was told that they would not have the truck available until 6:15pm on the 29th. I told the man that I had the reservation from 7am on the 29th until 6pm on the 31st. He said that the reservation that they had was from 6:15pm on the 29th until 7am on the 30th. I told him that was not what I made the reservation for, and that I had to be out of my apartment at 5pm on the 29th. He sent me to the scheduling department, and after waiting for 10 minutes a lady came on the line to ask what I could be helped with today. I gave her all the information again. She said "yeah, we have been trying to get in touch with you about your reservation, but you didn't give us a valid phone number." I told her my reasons for not giving my phone number, and asked why I wasn't sent an email. She didn't have an answer for that. She said the only thing they could do would be to get a cargo van out of another city for only one day. I don't feel like they tried to find a solution for my issue.
Description of Work: U-Haul's online reservation system does not function correctly. There was inadequate effort made to rectify the situation.

Given that I was renting a truck for the next day, I didn't expect a wide variety of choices, nor was I disappointed. They had two 14 foot trucks available. The lady at the counter was sympathetic, friendly, and helpful. The price was reasonable, the truck clean (although started with a quarter of a tank of gas, requiring me to fuel it before the move, as well as after), and everything worked as expected. U-Haul continues to be the standard bearer for do-it-yourself movers; and after my horrid experience with Budget Rental, was a welcome relief.
Description of Work: I had to rent a truck for the next day (after Budget Truck Rentals in Clinton, Iowa informed me 18 hours before my scheduled move that the 24 foot truck that I had reserved with a credit card a month previous was unavailable, and that only a 12 foot truck would be available) - so selection of vehicles was limited to a 14 foot truck.

I called them yesterday and they had closed my case and it was not supposed to be closed. I rented a U-Haul on January 29th. When I made the reservation I made it quite clear how much stuff I had. I told them I needed a good size truck. The truck they told me everything would fit into did not fit. I still have a garage full of stuff that I still have to pay for. They told me I had a free storage unit and there are no free storage units. I was told by a person that if there was more gas left in the truck that I would be reimbursed and I was not. I felt ripped off. I called the 800 number and told them if it did not get cleared up I would put them on Angie's List, which they did not want. The Fargo office called me back and offered me a $100 VIP ticket which I was not happy with because it will not cover my costs. I told her that is she was not willing to go back and look through my records to see what I told the other people I spoke with that she was stupid. She hung up on me. When I called back the person I spoke with said he would do research on the situation and call me back. I have never had a return call. I got the $100 VIP ticket in the mail and I have never been called back.
