+ -1 moreSoot was getting all over the room. I asked him to quit and come back when it was not so windy outside thinking that the wind was blowing the soot out of the chimney. I think they need to have a better way to control the soot. I will update this post when they come back.

+ 1 moreThe service was excellent. Friendly and professional. A-1 came out to inspect the fireplace and chimney and clean it if necessary. I was told that the chimney was in good shape and cleaning wasn't necessary at this time. A small repair was performed, though I wasn't charged for it beyond the inspection fee. He also gave advice on making a small repair on my own. Overall it was an excellent transaction and I'll certainly make use of this service again.

dryer vent cleaning
+ -1 moreCame next day after I called. 2 service men were very efficient and friendly. Moved out dryer, removed vent and showed me the totally clogged up pipe. Cleaned 30 feet of vent pipe from inside and outside using brushes and vaccum. Cleaned up inside of house but did leave a pile of lint on ground below vent exit outside.
Description of Work: Cleaned metal dryer vent that runs 30 feet. The 6 feet closest to dryer was so clogged it made dryer shut down.

+ 0 moreThe two gentlemen were very forgetful about their tools. They constantly left their tools laying out on the carpet. Good thing I was home otherwise they would have forgotten their tools. I appreciated the fact that they vacuumed up any dirt they brought inside. I hated the fact that a day after our house stunk like a sewer again and the fact they forgot to re-attach the smoke stack topper. In the end, I was left feeling frustrated about the smell and the chimney situation. At least all the air ducts are clean now.
Description of Work: The two gentlemen who came seemed like nice people because they were personal when they talked to me. They complimented our home on how beautiful it was. They cleaned the air ducts very well, but I forgot to ask them to clean the drip pan which was making the inside of our house smell like a sewer. The house smelled very fresh after their work was done, but the next day our house smelled like a sewer again. They also came and cleaned our chimney. I think they put a drop cloth down, but they made sure that the chimney's insides were clean. The only thing that was frustrating was that I think they forgot to re-attach the top of the smoke stack because it was just hanging off the chimney. Today, the top got blown off the roof and we don't know where it went.

+ -1 moreThey were very nice and very professional. He did a good sale. He originally quoted me a different price, but what he gave me was a way better deal so I was happy with that. I didn't know how many vents I had because I hadn't moved into the house yet so he had to guess. I would absolutely use them again.

+ 1 moreArt is great and will not pressure you into things you don't need. We thought we need new brick installed in the firebox and our chimney cleaned. He said the brick is fine since there is another 2 layers behind the first layer but if we wanted it to look better he would do it. Also he said the chimney doesn't need cleaning. We of course would've taken his word on it if he said the work needed to be done. If you need anything done in the Siouxland area having to do with your fireplace and/or chimney, A-1 is definitely the place to call.
