Worse experience with a contractor in our lives. Our opinion was we were charged for services not rendered and experienced refusals to address obvious deficiencies multiple times during the process. We also had a subcontractor place a lien on our house when they were not paid by the contractor, this sub was never paid by the contractor. Then they attempted to deny us access to the house unless we paid a inflated bill. In the end when they could not deny us access they placed a lien on our house for $28,000 for work not completed, by our estimation we owed them $4,000 before any offsets and offered them that amount. Ended up in court on a foreclosure action when we forced them into this action in attempting to remove the lien. They then drug the proceedings out for over 2 years with fruitless motions until the court refused to grant anymore extensions. We counter sued for deficiencies and over charges and offsets for us to complete the house. In the end Judge Paulson in Woodbury County ruled in our favor first ordering them to release the lien, six months after his decision we went back to court to enforce the courts action. After trail we were granted $20,000 for a new roof, work not completed, and offsets. We also won attorney fees for violation of the lien laws in Iowa, the first time in Iowa that a homeowner was awarded attorney fees under the 2008 law. All rulings were upheld under a request from the contractors to review his decision. Anyone contemplating using this firm should have an attorney do a search in the law archives and then make an informed decision.
