At the time we ordered our house, we had a saleswoman that seemed like she completely forgot our meeting and what we wanted and didn't want in our house. Several calls to us, or in writing, what we wanted and didn't want. The day the house was set, my husband was at the site recording the process. He had to stop the people setting the house on the foundation because they were setting the house backwards. Since they had the way we wanted our house to set, was wrong, everything that was done when the basement was put in, was also backwards. When ordering house, ordered tyvek wrap and egress windows, to which we didn't get. When I called the owner of the company, he asked me if I was sure there wasn't house wrap. The siding wasn't completed on the house, so you could see particle board. Floor in the dining room runs down hill, floor spacing (floor trusses) were anywhere from 12" to 27". 27" under a kitchen pantry led to the wall pulling away from the ceiling. They had a person that put in our basement. We were asked if they could hire a basement contractor that had done over 200 homes for them, if he could also do ours. Told him it would be okay. When this person put in the basement, he didn't have any tile leading away from the house, (we didn't know this until basement severely cracked, and basement flooded during rain. The floor in the basement is uneven. Could tell when the basement was flooded, and the water would be almost 3" in one area and 1/2" in another. When the house was being transported from the builder in Missouri (where the house is made), the tires blew on the transport trailer and broke some of the floor trusses or left tire tread on some floor trusses. They didn't tell us that this happened. We found out by the furnace installer who had noticed the problem once the house was set. When the company tried fixing the trusses, they used drywall nails and particle board. Left the trusses in, just "patched" things over. When a person walks across the floor, where the trusses were broken (which is our kitchen) the floor always pops, and the floor is extremely unlevel. We sued the company, the sales center, and the basement contractor. They ended up suing each other. The basement contractor had his insurance company involved. By the time that were a week away from the court date, I had an anxiety attack, and though I was having a heart attack. This was 4 years after the house was put in. During this time, we had several people come to our house, look at the problems, and give us estimates. We also had the basement "x-rayed" to determine if there was sufficient amount of rebar in the basement walls. There wasn't. We asked the "contractor" if the soil was tested before the basement was put in. He said that since we didn't request it, then they didn't do it. If a person is building a home for the first time, don't you think they would help you with items you aren't familiar with or don't know about? We eventually settled out of court because of my health. We were told that companies like these tend to drag things on, so that people loose their money and aren't able to finish the lawsuit. We have documentation of other customers that had similar things happen to them, and then they tried suing, only to end their suit, because they went broke. When settling out of courts, we got $12,000 for everything, of which $3,000 was applied towards our attorney bill. We spent about $12,000 for our attorney.
Description of Work: When you go to buy a modular house through this company, you would expect that they would look out for your best interest, like hiring a contractor. But they don't. Their bottom line is to show you a home, you order what you want, but you don't get what you saw on their lot, or ordered.
