In the beginning communication and working relationship was excellent. We liked dealing with a small family owned company who were very friendly and attentive to our design ideas. As the project progressed, builder made decisions without consulting us - decisions like window trim color and door hardware!). I can take some of the blame for that for not demanding to be consulted on everything, but it I think a good builder is going to want to make sure the buyer is on board with all decisions. As the project neared completion the builder demanded full payment before all work was finished. Builder abandoned project and the remaining work cost more to complete with other contractors than was withheld. The biggest problem with this builder has been the defective workmanship that has revealed itself over the 3 years we have lived in the house. The kitchen cabinet hood enclosure has separated from the wall. Shower tile was installed on bare ordinary drywall (found this out when tiles started coming loose and gypsum flaked off underneath). Large rear concrete patio sunk against the house and had to be replaced, revealing no base preparation or wire reinforcement. Dead electrical outlets and hair trigger GFCI outlets. Pipe insulation falling off of geothermal coolant lines. Roofing repairs reveal inadequate nailing and insufficient soffit ventilation as well as ridge vents installed over cathedral ceiling porch roof (!) causing water damage to the cedar finish. I could fill several pages with examples where corners were cut that were not likely to be discovered until they were well down the road. We are still paying reputable companies to clean up Struble's mess. I'll add that they were not cheap, and each time that presented request for payment, they were paid within 2 days without fail. It is clear to me Struble Construction lack either the skill or the ethics to deliver quality workmanship.
