Deck Doctor

Prompt response to our work request. Equally prompt proposal and thorough explanation. No delays other than due to rain. Two-man crew completed the work and did clean up. Very happy with the result.

My deck looks terrific. Much better than the last time I had it stained. They did a terrific job on the repairs that were needed before it could be stained. Great communication throughout the project. Anytime someone promptly returns calls and comes when they say they will, they get my vote of approval. Will definitely use them again.

I can't say enough good things about the Deck Doctor! Ted and his assistant Jeff were consummate professionals. They worked with us to repair our worn out deck, making great suggestions as to what the best solution would be. They rebuilt the railings, some of the deck floor, and completely replaced the steps. In addition, they built a new landing as we requested. Now, instead of it seeming like the deck is going to fall apart when you walk on it, we have a like new, sturdy, beautiful deck. By the way, Ted and Jeff were fantastic to work with -- very personable. And if something needed to be corrected, they did so almost immediately. To top it off, the price was great as well. We will definitely be hiring the Deck Doctor again!!!

I sleep days because of my work. Ted was very considerate of my schedule.

Basically, we have a 24 year old complex angled cedar deck with an attached fenced in gazebo that looked awful and had recently begun to worry me in terms of structural integrety, especially the railings. I called Ted after reading his reviews and looking at the photos he has. He was out of town that week but he said would get back to me when he returned the following week. He did and came out late afternoon a couple of days later to look things over. He thoroughly inspected the deck and gazebo and we discussed what we might want to do ranging from just a power washing and staining to replacing the entire suprastructure. He suggested that he come back with 3 options: the basic of just a good clean and stain, repair of the weakend railing, or replacing the entire suprastructure as the infrastructure and gazebo were sound. He called after the weekend with the options and I was surprised at how reasonable the they were ranging from about 1k to 5k. I immediatley chose the complete repair. He came over again the next day to do some more measuring and discussed using a newer type of treated wood (Cedar Tone) that he suggested rather than using cedar. We went with his suggestion. He started the following week and while he thought it would only take a week, it turned out to be a week longer, but that was because of the weather killing a few days and his attention to detail. He made sure that the boards matched in terms of finish and blemishes and then would measure and remeasure to make sure everything lined up correctly . Then there were unexpected things such as the crazy angles and some modifications to the original railing and steps that added some time. All the time he was here with his workers, there was no inconvenience. We came and went as we pleased and felt very comfortable leaving the keys to the house with him so he could access the circuit breaker if necessary and to get some ice and water and to cool off considering how hot it was the past few weeks. Then after finishing, he power washed everything. We then discussed staining the original wood that he replaced and he suggested we wait until next spring in order to give the new wood a little time to age as the Cedar Tone tends to lighten bit with age. Therefore, he will be coming out next spring to rewash and then stain the parts that need it. And after leaving, everything was cleaned up and one would never know we had workers here for a couple of weeks. We are extremely happy with how the deck turned out and wished I had done this several years ago instead of me just trying to replace old boards in a piecemeal fashion. The Cedar Tone wood looks just like cedar and I'm glad we went with that. I told Ted that if anyone wants to see the result and how good his work is, he could relay my contact informaton to them. Also, I plan on having him come out every year to wash the deck and keep it up to snuff.

Ted quickly contacted me, and agreed to do the deck project as soon as the rains quit. He brought a color brochure and gave excellent advice. He has made extra trips to assure the desired color and results. He is very personable, considerate and prompt. I will rate him as the best!

I had an unusual project, which every other prospective contractor gave me a very high bid, or shrugged me off. Ted came in and gave a very reasonable bid (compared to the tough task I was offering). He did a fantastic job and my wife and I couldn't have been happier. We have other projects around our home we'll be happy to have him work on!

Ted contacted me and came out the next day to view the damages I had on my ceiling which was water damage and noticed the west wall needed to be replaced. He talked with me, gave me an estimate was very glad to take on this small project to get my closet back in order! I was very delighted and happy with the results. I was amazed how fast they got this done and looking like my good old closet back! I truly appreciated his time, his honesty and work that he did, I will hire him again!
