+ -1 moreDryer was 17 yrs old, they sold us a used one and it works great. He took our old dryer with him. Oven needed a sm. part, fixed it and it works just fine now. Bill was so very nice to work with. He was going to be a little late but called me to let me know. Very much appreciated.
Description of Work: dryer quit and oven wouldn't heat up.

Description of Work: Never showed up. Did not call or show up for 1st appointment. I called him the next day and he said his truck slid in a ditch. He re-scheduled for next day, At 4:30 I called and was told he was on his way and would be there in the next few minutes, He has not showed up yet and I do not expect him to.(it' been almost 3 months)

+ -1 moreThis did not feel like some service calls I've experienced over the years. It felt more like an old friend simply stopped by to help out. Unlike many repairmen, Jim did not talk down to me. You know what I'm saying ladies: The standard "Dumb Woman" speeches we've all encountered! To be 100% truthful, there was a delay in him getting to my house... an address mix-up. I had nothing going on, so this was not an issue for me whatsoever, plus I know these guys often get into a job and find it takes longer than expected. So, if you're a stickler for punctuality, tardiness might bother you, but IMHO, people this picky about time are just plain unreasonable.
Description of Work: There was a loud noise during the spin cycle of my 18 yr old Amana washer. (was told by another repair man it would need a pump and belt- parts est.: $95) Jim from Affordable W&D Repair identified a loose area near the clutch; adjusted this and the noise stopped. I have to apologize for not providing a complete explanation of the repair. Normally, I understand most of what goes on... that is to say I am not completely devoid of any mechanical aptitude. But despite Jim's *respectful* and repeated explanations, I didn't really understand. I was only charged for the service call: $40. He made sure the washer was level after pushing it back into its space, then he wiped the machine off! (and sorry, it was really dusty) Despite the name of his business, they work on all large appliances. Copying what is on their business card [they]: buy, sell, trade, [provide] service, parts- both new and used.
