We are central Iowa's Best resource for Furniture Repair, Furniture Refinishing, Antique Restoration, Antique Refinishing, Furniture Touch-up, Scratch and ding repair, Custom built furniture, Furniture Re-upholstery, and Commercial Upholstery. We offer a full range of services: Structural repair (re-gluing, and part replacement) Antique refinishing, In home repair, and touch up, Custom designed and built furniture, In home upholstery repair (springs, webbing, foam), Re-upholstery, Water damage repair, Fire and smoke damage repair. We have put together a collection of the finest craftsmen in the area. Our goal is to offer you the very best quality and service possible at a price you can afford, without sacrificing quality. In-home repairs offered: Most people don't know the level of repair that is possible. Frequently, we have customers tell us "I'm pretty sure it's ruined and you can't fix it." Often, in less time than people think, we can repair the damage. Just because it looks bad, does not mean it is. In most instances, work is finished for less than one would expect: structural repairs, chair re-gluing, drawer repairs, hinge replacement, mechanism replacement on chairs and recliners, hand stitch repair to blown out seams in upholstered furniture, leather repair & recoloring dent and ding repair, color replacement, and antique refinishing. In-Shop Furniture Repair: We are the experts at giving you the very best quality repairs possible. Customers have told us many times that their pieces of furniture were “completely destroyed and could never be repaired” just to surprise them by showing them what can be done. It is always a wonderful feeling to see a customer look at a piece of furniture, they thought was destroyed, repaired and in better condition than it was originally. Very few pieces are truly beyond repair, although it is occasionally more cost effective to replace a piece than it is to repair, more often than not it is less expensive to do the repair. Custom builds: We are always willing to work with our customers to give them the most cost effective repair. Custom Built cabinets, fireplaces, and furniture. When you just cannot find what you are looking for, or want that custom look that no one else has, we can help. We will work with you on every aspect of the project from initial design, wood selection, to finding the perfect finish and hardware. Too many of our customers have family heirlooms that are just rotting in a corner of the basement, because they are not in good enough condition for display. We repeatedly find that once these pieces have been repaired and refinished they become the center of attention, displayed proudly in the customer’s home. We can offer you a choice of options from touching up the color and giving the piece a fresh coat of finish, to refinishing in some of the most durable finishes on the market today.

"Sent them two requests for a quote and even asked them to let me know if they couldn't do it. No response at all."

"They returned old carpets to a very acceptable level, even on the stairs. It was a busy time of the year for Steamway so we did have to wait close to 3 weeks to have them cleaned so plan ahead. The two Professional cleaners were friendly and worked quickly. It took about 4 hours. It takes a lot of work to get as much as you can off the carpets but it is worth it especially in the closets."

Leather and vinyl repairs FAQs

Whether the leather repair is worth it depends on the extent of the damage, the cost to repair, and the value of the leather item. If the leather is part of an item that’s very expensive to replace, then attempting to repair it may be worth it. Also, if the leather piece holds great sentimental value, it’s worth restoration or repair, if possible.

Most leather sofa repairs cost between $100 and $400. A small repair, like a single scratch or tear, may cost between about $100 and $150. However, larger, more complex repairs that may require total reupholstery can cost up to $4,000, depending on the type of leather, the build of the sofa, and the time required to complete the work. A leather repair specialist will provide an estimate based on the specific project and its damage.

Leather patches can last anywhere from two to 20 years, depending on use, maintenance, and the environment the leather is in. The longevity of the leather repair also depends on the nature of the original damage and the repairs required. Consult a leather repair specialist about how to make your leather fix last as long as possible.

It’s possible to repair damaged leather as long as the damage is not too severe. Professional leather repair specialists can fill, smooth, and refinish damage like scratches, cracks, and other damage by color matching the rest of the leather. Leather repair pros can evaluate the damage and recommend a plan for repair or replacement. If the leather is on furniture or another item that’s difficult or impossible to replace, repair is the best option, even if the repair does not match perfectly.

When deciding whether to repair your leather furniture or not, consider a few advantages and disadvantages:

Pros

  • Less expensive than buying a new piece

  • Extends the life of the leather before replacement is necessary

  • Makes your leather item look like new

  • Some repairs are relatively easy

Cons

  • Some repairs may be costly

  • Damage may not be repairable

  • Repairs may not blend perfectly with the original leather

  • May need to leave the piece with a repair expert
