I contracted for a new whole house system for my new home construction completed in December 2013 and signed up for regular Hauser salt service with the desire to eliminate water treatment as a concern from the daily grind. I spoke with Hauser's in Jan. 2014 when I noticed that NO salt was being consumed by the unit. I was told that it just may “look that way and not to worry”, “kick the salt reservoir” to loosen likely cavities in the salt, and they would look at it next month. I am extremely busy with my own business, family, etc. but took their representatives guidance figuring this was a new installation by professionals and this was the recommended guidance. I never got the next service call until March 29, 2014. When the representative came over with two bags of salt, he found exactly what I had complained about in Jan. 2014. There had been no salt consumed by the unit at all. He tested the water coming out and verified it was hard. I have inspected my expensive brand new plumbing fixtures since and found that nearly all have unsightly scale build up. This is also present in the dishwasher as well as in showers. I can’t tell if this is also in the new pipes or washing machine. I don’t know how this occurred that a new system professionally installed was not functioning but it doesn’t seem to have ever been tested for function since no salt was consumed since installation. The problem was never detected through the service plan until months later even after I raised concerns 2 months prior. Hausers did troubleshoot and replaced a faulty motherboard on the unit on April 7, 2014. Now I need to deal with a massive across the board clean up on brand new showers, appliances, and fixtures. This is in addition to paying for soft water but not getting it for months. When I asked for cleanup assistance, the president said they had called me immediately after the sale to check up on things but I never responded to a message left so it is my fault. I don't remember ever such a call and don't know how a homeowner is supposed to know after install that everything is working right anyway. I am not a water expert and thought I was paying for experts. When I emailed the president this point and mentioned how I did voice concerns months prior to the April 2014 repair to the Hauser representative in Jan. 2014, the president responded: "Obviously the unit was tested at time of installation or the installer would have replaced the board right away had it been an issue. When the softener is first put in service the water is soft right away. The installer will cycle test the unit and leave it in brine tank refill. Your problem would not have shown up at time of install. Had you returned Mr. Hartvigsen's request to follow up on the installation it would have been corrected within a month at most. We apologize for the problem, but in no way will we pay to have your fixtures cleaned professionally. Best Regards, Sean M. Hauser President Hausers Water Systems, Inc Manchester,IA 52057" They claim satisfaction guaranteed, but wouldn't accept return on the unit, or remedy the adverse effects of their faulty unit. They offered 10 bags of salt and repaired the faulty unit. They felt this was more than generous. I disagree and would not recommend their water softener product, monthly service plan, or customer service.

They were prompt. From initial call to installation was only 2 days. The installation was neat and professional. Their everyday price is comparable to a national company's limited time price. Equipment is made in the USA and has a very good warranty.
Description of Work: Installed a residential water softener.
