The project went very well, although with most builders, these guys were busy and sometimes not able to come when I would have liked, however, they fit me into their very busy schedule and did a terrific job. Tom Faulhaber and his sons are very, very professional, pleasant to work with, and very responsive to what their customer wants. They are also sticklers about following code, building safely, cleaned up the work place. I can't say enough good things about these builders. If I were building a new home I would definitely want them to do it.
Description of Work: Built two story, plus full basement addition to my home. Did construction of the structure and some finishing inside plus put siding on new addition and built a fabulous pergola over part of the patio.

Over all we are extremely happy with our purchase and experience with Tom and his business. We made an offer on the house a month before it was completed and had him add a door the the basement, extend the size of the deck and add a mud room. We were extremely happy with the work he did and it looks better than expected. In fact he did extend the deck as we asked, but then did not like the looks of the added on decking so ripped the whole thing up and started over. With Tom his strength is his attention to detail and quality. He is not known to be exceptionally speedy, but if you want it done well he is your man, not our experience since we came in at the end of the process but what we have heard. We've heard comments from numerus sources like the inspector, electricians who worked on the place long after we purchased it how well it was constructed and how far above and beyond he went better than code. I read a review from one of the other reviewers who was upset because they didn't think he got the best price from his subcontractors. While they might be right about price I would reassure you that at the price level you are at with one of Tom's home you aren't getting the cheapest house but your getting one of the best built. We've only been here for a couple of months and he or is sons have been extremely responsive to any questions or requests we have had.
Description of Work: Built spec home that we bought, was not yet completed so made some minor changes for us.

April 2008 before we dug he claimed breach of contract so we halted and did nothing for 30 days to let the arbitration clause run it’s course. April 2008-June 2008 lawyers went back and forth, we didn’t build on lots we bought from him and bought a lot elsewhere. June 2008-September 2009 built our home without builder on a lot we didn’t buy from him. June 2009 Builder & his attorney filed for arbitration proceedings more than 1 year after they gave formal notice. June 2009-July 2010 went through arbitration process and reduced our damages, but not completely. I had to pay Tom Faulhaber $57,806 for a home he never built and $19,908 in attorney's fees. This builder is a good option if you don't care about money dealing with an honest individual. Tom also built one of the largest homes in Bettendorf iowa that burned down. Search the QCTimes newspaper website for "tom+faulhaber+humes+fire". When asked about it Tom says it was not his fault at all, but a jury found as the lead builder he was partly responsible
Description of Work: June 2007 discovered a lot for sale by Tom Faulhaber that we wanted to buy to build a home. June 2007-November 2007 worked with city and builder/lot seller to keep trees on adjoining city ground. November 2007 purchased lot and signed Tom Fahlhaber Contract. November 2007-February 2008 worked on house plans with Tom Faulhaber's draftsman. February 2008 met with builder for his first round of bids and found them to be way out of line. For example $45,000 for plumbing. I took the same fixture list and blueprints to 3 other union plumbing shops in town and got bids for $29,000; $30,000 & $31,000. When I asked Tom why his guy was so much more expensive he said what's $15,000 here or there when you are building a new home. Februay2008-March2008 worked on getting my own bids, the builder said I had to use his guys and pay his 11% despite contract. He quit and I went ahead and got started without him.
