Description of Work: I was needing a deck to replace my 20 year old deck put on when my home was built. My deck was 12x16 and 8 feet off the ground with stairs going down to the ground. Every thing on the old deck was built weak and didn't seem safe. I had Costello Construction come out and take a look at my deck, they were very nice and explained how a deck is built when they do it. They help by giving me plenty of options on what to do with the steps down and what kind of railings I could do. When we had decided what to go with for the right price they started right away and didn't mess around. The post were now siting on frost footings when before they were only on one foot down. The steps were now very comfortable to walk down not scary.

Description of Work: The contractor was actually Costello Construction, Inc., 2137 Thornwood Lane, LeClaire, IA, which is near Davenport, IA, and is an offshoot of Costello Construction at the address you list. The LeClaire branch is operated by Bryan Costello, the son of the owner of the Davenport branch. I had about 30 feet of concrete driveway, 10 feet wide, which was in bad shape. It was the only access to my property becuase of the ditch along the road. I wanted them to tear out the driveway and culvert and replace it with a new concrete driveway and new culvert where the driveway crosses the ditch. The specifications required 4 in. thick concrete, wth embedded wire reinforcing, a 16 in diameter culvert and subgrade, with an entry flared out 1 ft. on each side for easier entry. Because the driveway was the only way into our house, if the construction had been done in the usual way, we would have been forced to find another place to keep our automobiles and walk to that temporary location until the work was done and the concrete cured. However, the conttractor agreed to do the work during August, when we were on vacation, and complete it before we returned home. The contractor performed exactly as agreed and we returned home in early September to find a beautiful new driveway and culvert with excellent finish work and grading. The contractor had even planted some new grass seed on the graded areas, although that was not required. The contractor's cooperation and performance were outstanding. I would not hesitate to recommend this contractor for any small job.

Description of Work: I was putting a fence up in the back yard. It is a large yard and I was planning on doing all of the work myself. I was planning on sinking all the posts in concrete and had purchased the concrete and lumber already. I have a manual post digger and started using it. After about 8 hours of work the first day I had 4 holes dug. The soil was nothing but large tree roots and rock. I contacted costello construction and they came with a big machine that had a large 2 ft wide drill attached to it. They got all the work done in one day. They also leveled out an area where I planned on putting in a stone patio as well as dug out some large bushes. They came within the week and had everything done in a day. Very efficient and the work was done right.

Description of Work: This company turned my back yard from a swamp to a lush green grass that I can finally mow. They did all the work I wanted them to do and let me do as much work as I wanted to keep the price down. Costello Construction will be back to remodle my deck next week.
