I recently moved and needed the gas fireplace checked out. The technician who came out was able to work on my Heatilator fireplace; when other fireplace service companies were unable to assist. He cleaned the glass, lit the pilot and educated me on proper use.

Our A/C was making horrible noises. I was afraid that the compressor was dying, but Dan, the Kohles & Bach technician that came out, determined within a couple of minutes that it was only a bad temperature sensor switch and a redundant one at that, so it wasn't even needed. He removed it and the A/C is back working properly again! What a relief! Thanks Dan!

Two people came to complete the service for approximately 5 hours. They left the area cleaner than it was before.

Exactly as many other online reviews have said - Rick Bach is extremely rude to customers who have questions or complaints. Rick yelled at me over the phone, used vulgar language, and said he didn't need to deal with ********** from ******customers.I called with a simple question. Amazing that they are still in business.

They were at my home within an hour and had a solution within 15 minutes. Provided follow-up resources if I needed additional help. I have been using Kohles and Bach for 4 years, and I am very satisfied with their work and their professionalism.

They were the original company who installed my fireplace and I would use them again in the future.

The technician was prompt and called ahead to let me know when he would arrive. He was friendly and professional and fixed the problem quickly. Also did not try to sell me parts that I really didn't need. Overall a very positive experience.

This is the second and continued review for this provider. The first one I did was not that complimentary. The first time they came out to review the fireplace to determine what needed to be repaired, they told me it was the damper. They were going to order one and call me when it was received. I didn't hear from them so I called but did not get a return call. I wrote a less than complimentary review on them on Angie's list. My complaint was they didn't call me back. I wrote the review and within two days, the fireplace technician called me, apologized very politely. Explained that it was his error for not calling me back. He had the damper and wanted to know if I would allow him to come and install it. Of course I said yes. He came over to the house, arrived on time and installed the damper. He charged me for the damper but did not charge me for the service call. He again apologized for not calling me back. He was extremely polite. The every next day, the owner of the company followed up and called me. He wanted to make sure the driver had contacted me and that I was satisfied. I told him I was and I did appreciate his call too. I was probably too quick to write the complaint and I do want to let everyone know, the minute the owner knew I had an issue, he made sure I was taken care of and in a very professional, very courteous way. I would not hesitant to recommend them to anyone.

They arrived at the appointment time fine, inspected the units and the pilot item was taken care of fine. However, in the inspection they noticed that the Damper on one of the units was not working. The repairman said he would locate a replacement for the damper and call me the next week. I waited the entire week but they did not call. I Called them last Monday, the 24th and asked if they had located anything. Explain the situation to the nice lady on the phone and she said she would have the repairman follow up and call me. I've never heard anything back. It's frustrating that you can't get any information or a simple call back.

Vince was out soon after my call...professional, polite, friendly and appreciated the extra knowledge offered to get me through one more year. Cleaned up after himself. I will be in contact next year for possibly changing out my furnace and a/c. Thank you much!

Estimator arrived at the (approximate) time established. His work was completed promptly and professionally. We ultimately decided to go with another provider who was able to offer a better price. I worked with five different companies; quotes ranged from net $3,800 to $7,200. After talking to a friend who is "in the business", we went with Appliances Plus and the low bid. But I wouldn't be afraid of doing business with Kohles and Bach.

Two day project. Very clean installation. Has worked great and our utility bills are, so far, substantially lower.

I moved into a house with a Heatilator fireplace that was having problems. Called this company and they had a technician come out to do an inspection. The technician was extremely friendly and informative and told me why I was having the problems and did a thorough cleaning and tune up. He even told me about an option that I could add to the fireplace to work better, and told me that I could save money be installing it myself. Did not feel sales pressure because he said I could call him later if I decided to buy the part. I bought the part from him, and he even gave me his phone number and told me to give him a call if I had any questions while installing it myself. The only concern that I had was when I made the appointment, I was told there would be a minimum charge of two hours because I do not live in Des Moines. However, the technician only charged me for one hour and so I have absolutely no complaints.

The owner came over and sat down with us to make sure we choose the correct unit and answered all of our questions. The guys were really great, they even had to navigate a horrible crawl space and said "no problem." Prices were very competitive as I check with a few others to be sure. I wish I had used these guys for a new furnace a few years back.

The technician showed up and was very professional. Part of the problem was that the circuit had been tripped but he continued to check for any issues and discovered that the unit needed to be recharged. A year later and I still haven't had any problems with the unit since.
